- No option to customize controls or adjust sound levels. - Alt-tabbing or scrolling up on the leaderboard crashes the game. - Levels are short and straightforward with many checkpoints, making it less challenging. I'd recommend it if you like a puzzle-platformer game, with a funny character, a decent story, and extraordinary visuals.

Originally a mobile game but pretty fun to play on PC with a controller. Game is short but getting all stars in all levels is fun and makes it longer unless you're a pro.

Physics are quite jank and the levels are generally not very interesting or fun. No ability to customize controls, change volume besides a straight up on/off setting, or play above 1080p (it's a mobile game port and it shows quite heavily). Hardcore mode is also one of the least fun things i've ever done in a game.

Its as if Oscar The Grouch, Sonic the Hedgehog and Little Big Planet had a baby. This is great for some light gaming so far, but I have only gotten through the first few levels thus far an who knows how hard this is going to get. Even if this game lasts only a couple hours it will be worth the asking price! 10/10 Would come out of my trashcan again!

Wow! I have been playing video games for almost 40 years (since PONG). I love 'left to right' 'platformers' with 'leaderboards' the most. This is one of the best I have ever played. The level design is absolutely incredible. There are shortcuts to be found on every level. And I love that there are different objectives. And the graphics are really something else. If you just stop and look, you'll be amazed. To round it off, with leaderboard support, this game has plenty of replay value. Well done!

+ Beautiful art + Well designed levels + Good amount of checkpoints +/- Collision detection is sometimes hit and miss - Too short - Easy
If you enjoyed this review please consider following me: curator page

Teal Deer

Developers: 1337 & Senri AB
Publishers: Tilting Point
Initial release: Sept 2015
Genre: Platformer
#Worth/NotWorth: #Worth

Exposition, Concurrence and Summation
Leo's Fortune places you in control of the most adorable fuzzy ball with a mustache ever. This is a simple, casual but enjoyable physics based puzzle plat-former with gorgeous whimsical art styling that makes a turn to be rather menacing looking near the end. Almost like a proper Pixar movie. Leo is an inflatable ball, that when inflated can slow his descent. Which brings me into the actual plat-forming bit; You are a ball, the action of jumping is caused by rapidly inflating. So the physics here are not always the most accurate. You might think of Sackboy with his soft mushy feel. Leo is also kind of sticky, with some momentum he'll pretty much stick to anything not perpendicular to the ground. Additionally for no particular reason he is also able to rapidly descend, which comes in handy for traversal and puzzle solving alike. None of the levels are all that challenging; there aren't that many stages. I finished them all in about 2 hours. You can unlock bonus levels by getting higher scores (collecting things in the level or completing with low fatality rate.) But to be honest, they aren't that interesting. After completing the game you unlock 'hardcore' mode which does not allow retries. All in all, an enjoyable very cutesy filler game/palate cleanser between more substantial titles. Leo's Fortune is one of my absolute favorite platformers. I had the pleasure of playing this game on the Amazon Fire Android TV with a wireless controller and fell in love with it instantly. Now, that I've duplicated a lot of my gaming collection on Steam, I'm getting to experience games like this one on a different platform. I played the game from beginning to end this evening and enjoyed it just as much as I did the first time, if not moreso. The scenery, graphics, and level design are really terrific, and the controls are very responsive. The concept behind the game is relatively simple, as a blue ball of fluff named Leo goes on a mission to retrieve his gold. This game is much more platformer and coin collector than puzzle-platformer, and that's precisely why I like it so much. A well-made platformer is so very rare these days, and those that are well-done are more often than not complex puzzle-platformers or purposely made to be very difficult. Leo's Fortune is not one of those games. This is a game that can be played casually without having to think too terribly much, and as much as I enjoy a cerebral game, there are times when I just want to play a straightforward platformer. This game is exactly that. It can be completed in one sitting, but it also includes challenging yet attainable achievements and hidden collectibles that will appeal to achievement hunters, and 100% completionists. This is a game for young gamers as much as it is for seasoned gamers. There's nothing that I wouldn't want my children to see, and it's great for gamers who have short attention spans or are prone to rage, because each of the 20 levels is short and a great stopping point. Furthermore, while there are achievements associated with "no game deaths," it's possible to complete the game without needing to be such a precise gamer. You can "die" as often as necessary and simply pick back up near where you left off. There's replayability here, too, as completing the game will unlock a hardcore mode, and there are 4 additional secret levels within the game to unlock, as well. It's also a safe bet that a second playthrough will be necessary for those who are achievement hunters or completionists. There's really something for everyone here, but most specifically, I recommend Leo's Fortune very highly for those seeking their first 100% game and anyone looking for a platformer with just enough puzzle-solving to be fun and not so much that it feels like, "Work."
