2 Ending, Traditional RPG Puzzle Horror Game with an AMAZING Story and alot of soul put by the developers in all of it's aspects! (The Jumpscares, Rooms, Puzzle and Story), rarely see games like these these days but when I do I instantly know that they are going to be amazing and I'll buy it at the spot even if it's early access or not translated. When I bought this game it wasn't translated but the developers promised a translation would be coming around December and while it was a little later it did appear meaning that they actually keep their promises and care about their product! HUGE W! (Translation is a little rough around the edges in some very minor parts but it's 98% on point and for the price and effort that went into this game I genuinely didn't mind at all but thought i might mention it as a last tidbit.)

Short review: Are you intrigued by the two characters on the cover? Do you like noir themes, RPGmaker games, and mystery stories? Do you have a little more than five dollars to spare? If so, you will likely enjoy Space-eating Croc. A longer, more spoiler-y review now. At the beginning I was pretty skeptical because the story is linear and the world sells itself short a bit. I wished there were more ambience- dialogue from hotel guests, more minor lore information from bookshelves, maybe some more exploration. After all, the player is given a map of the entire hotel, but the story remains limited to only four floors ( with some extradimensional spaces in-between, of course ). Once I realized this game is tasking itself only with telling you one story- the story of its main characters- I let go of these wishes and just played the game for what it is. And when I did that, I was pretty impressed. The soundtrack is phenomenal and I'm actually planning to buy it on steam, something I never do. As a fan of noir, I liked the tone and emotions presented by the story and found them authentic. Another review mentioned something about translation of the dialogue being clunky. I actually disagree, and outside of a few sentences scattered about, it's mostly unnoticeable. I loved the character design (I love short-haired girls in suits!) and the game absolutely uses the tech of RPGMaker to its fullest, with cutscenes, moving CGs, and solid sound design. I really did like the experience of playing this game, and its story certainly surprised me even when I didn't think it would. Heavy Spoilers: My biggest gripe with perhaps the whole game was that the "Croc" motif was used at all. This may seem silly, but I honestly don't think it was core to the story, and would only be a "mandatory" detail for the scenes where Jay Smith's gloves come off. Everything the Crocs were doing sounded a lot like stuff that might be found in a David Lynch film, and the theme of extinction and anxiety about it weighed heavily on the story in a good way. But if instead of being a weird animal-monster species like crocodiles, they were something mysterious and alien but nonetheless humanoid, I think it would've worked better for one simple reason: crocodiles are silly! The story was emotional and the drama was almost real, so the "space crocodile and human war" being something I had to say felt tone-breaking. All in all, I like it how it is, but if "crocs" were replaced with something different I think the story would overall be even better. I hope to see more RPGMaker stories from this developer in the future!
