Be aware: This is not a "game", it is an experience, and it is beautiful. Take your time. Walk. Look. Listen. You will get to the end soon enough.

A walking simulator with a beautiful story about nature and life..... Someone with a soothing David Attenborough-like voice will be narrating as you walk through nature in each of these four chapters. The game is about an hour long. Enjoy as you go along!

A beautiful and relaxing short walking sim. The narration is gorgeous, and the story is moving. It looks very pretty, I enjoyed lingering to take screenshots. It took me around an hour to complete, and it's easy to 100% the achievements. Recommended if you feel like getting cosy and unwinding for an hour.

Note: This is a non-VR review. Parts of the walk look quite nice, others are just dark tunnels. There is some music and a dude telling a story. The expecience is way too boring and you can only select between two walking speeds: - slow - very slow Going to bed now, at least this serves as a sleep aid...

Very slow game, the areas seem huge but in reality you are only forced to listen to a narrative that is not striking. Non-existent soundtrack and graphics that have nothing exceptional, indeed .. Maybe with VR it's another thing but I don't feel like recommending this game

+ good graphics (not ultra-realistic, but still good); + beautiful narration and story; + free VR support (didn't use it myself, but I'm sure it's alright); + cost is just 68 pesos (bought it with a 66% sale coupon for 26 pesos); +- literally a walking simulator; +- very short.

This game looks beautiful, that's about all that amazed me. The ramblings of the narrator did nothing for me and made me want to shout at the screen at times. This game just didn't do it for me. I was hoping to get sucked in to the world but no. Also that slow walking/jogging mixed with the boring narrating made it feel like a chore. I managed to get some nice screenshots though....

It was ok, nothing memorable though. The narrator was very good but for some reason the music volume was higher than the narrator so you couldn't really hear him most of the time. The story was ok, the ending was nothing special although it does add things up but nothing really up to that point made me beg for answers. The gameplay is a bit of a chore, you walk extremely slowly through the levels where 90% of the level looks the same. The graphics were very hit and miss, the ending and cave area looked good but the rest of the game was average, I feel "walking simulators" are usually known for HQ graphics. The soundtrack was the same, some was ok but the soundtrack in the Cave was particularly amazing. I don't think the music went on for long enough or didn't loop as you would get half way through a level and the music would finish and it would just be silence for the rest.

Reaching for Petals is a short, atmospheric, introspective, philosophical walking simulator. It follows the story of Kai and Renee, glimpsing small snippets of their lives as you walk through a forest and climb a mountain. The language is extremely poetic and flowery. I enjoyed the writing, but it certainly won't be to everyone's taste. The narrator has a soothing voice and excellent articulation and subtitles are also available. Whilst the story concept is moving, it's relatively simple and requires you to be emotionally connected to it. Deep philosophically, the details given in the game are very sparse. Visually appealing, graphics are good - very attractive and very detailed. There are some screenshots on my website; but the store page shows off the graphical detail very well and accurately. This really is the strength of the game. The gameplay is virtually non existent - I would not mistake this for an "adventure" game. It is pure walking simulator and the walking pace, even at its fastest is snail-slow. It needs to be for the narration and music to work, as it's heavily triggered by location, but it does get a bit tiring just pushing W for the entire game. There are a couple of interactive elements but not enough to make mention of (just walk up to something and interact with it to trigger the next scene). You can jump, but the "platforming" elements which are jumping over a few rocks and going up some stairs are sluggish and hard to control. I'm very glad there wasn't more platforming, as in the final chapter one set of stairs took me 5 attempts as I kept slipping down no matter how hard I jammed space and that really damaged my immersion. There are a couple of options for narration choice in between each chapter; but they are very simple and alter a small snippet of text you receive after, having no real bearing on the story. Although it looks great - this fell flat for me on the whole, even as an experience rather than a game. The writing may have been poetic and philosophical and I enjoyed the narration, but it didn't tie the story together or make me care about the world or the characters in it. Even the personal sequences felt slightly jarring, short and the choices unimportant. I have experienced love and loss and I understood the emotions that this game were attempting to invoke, but the slow walking speed and the clumsy movement detracted from feeling immersed in that. It took me 62 minutes to complete. It's a 7GB download and has a £6.99 price tag, so I'm heavily questioning the value of the game. If you fancy spending an hour walking through a lovely forest with some poetric voice-overs than this game may well be for you but even for lovers of the walking simulator genre, I think there are many better games out there. Perhaps heavily discounted I'd feel better about a recommendation; but as it is, I'm unconvinced. ♥♥♥ If you're a weirdo who wants to follow my reviews, please clicky some links: My Curator Page and My Twitter. I absolutely love walking simulators, and was looking forward to this game for a while. Unfortunately, it is a very boring and disappointing game. The narrator's voice is nice, but the writing is terrible. It reads like a middle school creative writing project. Also, the pace at which you walk in the game is frustratingly slow, even when 'jogging'. There is almost no interactivity with the environment (after 20 minutes of gameplay, all I have done other than walk is push over a tree). This is far, far from the quality of great walking sims like Edith Finch and Firewatch, and not worth the money.
