I'm coping with my own issues by helping others with theirs :'D you receive: my help & advice I receive: the thiccest amounts of serotonin Hey, HOWEVER, to the ppl who haven't yet played: I've already read & received quite a few alarming & complicated messages from people just after 4 hours of game-play. If you decide to purchase & reply to peoples requests, please advise yourself to a different activity if you've got fragile or declining mental health. This game has a very lovely community with lots of supportive & loving individuals, but you're NEVER obligated to reply to messages you view. Mental health is tricky & often taxing for others to handle after long-term exposure. Play at your own discretion & drink lots of water!!

Kind Words is a game that should have no way of existing. And yet it does, and is exactly what it looks like. Consider the nature of what kind of people play video games. So many of us are social outcasts, maladjusted, bitter, self-centered, often hateful. The stereotype that a typical gamer is a manchild exists for a reason. Some gaming communities are unfathomably toxic places, second only to actual hate groups (and newspaper comment sections). So you'd think that a game where the main "skills" for the lack of a better word are kindness and empathy would be instantly overrun by trolls and extremists, and nobody would use it anyway. You'd be wrong. I've been using Kind Words for more than 3 years, sometimes because I needed some advice, sometimes because I just felt like giving back to the community. And I think there was only one case where I got a letter that was somewhat out of line, and only one case of a request that was something dumb and improper. Apart from that, the contents of the letters carried by the Mail Deer are earnest and helpful. People write about their actual fears and issues, and they get actual responses in return. I've done both, many times. Surprisingly, the quality of the advice is really good, too. Many letters I've received have legitimately changed my perspective on things, gave me tools to deal with a situation at hand, or at least provided a moment of solace and understanding. I know that whenever I write a letter I really do it out of pure goodwill for my fellow man, and I only respond to requests I can somewhat relate to. Seems like many others follow the same logic. A minor complaint would be that it feels like the majority of users are teenagers, or uni/college age people. So for people who are above that age bracket, some advice might seem misguided, and issues a little juvenile. But I honestly don't think that should matter - human suffering can't be compared. A heartbreak of a 17 year old girl is just as valid as the gnawing loneliness of a 23 year old man. And besides, it's always good to hear the perspective of someone who's in a completely different place in life than you. I honestly can't recommend Kind Words enough. It won't substitute for therapy, but it sure works as a painkiller for your everyday woes and more. But most importantly, it's a game that managed to foster kindness. And that's an incredible achievement. Curator Page

An sorely needed tool bringing connection and comfort that our society is so often lacking.

My partner thinks I'm silly for getting this game and giving advice to people for free, since I'm a therapist. But it's not free advice; I'm getting paid in stickers!

This isn't a game. It's an anonymous support community for whatever you're going through right now, and maybe more importantly, a portal to strangers who may be in such a dire situation that a few Kind Words from you could give them the boost to carry on and turn things upwards with more confidence. For four? FIVE? YEARS! Two devs have moderated millions of messages to keep this fragile community safe. If that isn't worth the price of a fancy coffee, what is?

This game has the best story: it is only the second game to make me cry. You are the main character and your goal is to help as many people as you can with only kind words and stickers. There is no end but a major turning point in your story is when you build up the strength to seek help yourself.

I bought the game on a whim, no real desire for it. I opened the game with hesitation and a little skepticism. I figured it was just a kinda one off thing and it won't really go anywhere, or be anything substantial. I ended up sitting for two hours in front of my computer, just stunned at what I was seeing and feeling. I sent my first response to a request. And I kept reading more and more requests. And I responded to some, sometimes with just a little "I hear you" or "hugs". And the airplanes. I didn't know what they were at first, and then I clicked on one. The first one I opened just simply said, "You will be okay." And I broke down. At some point after that, I decided to send out my own request. I didn't really know what to say. But I decided to write something that had been bothering me for sometime. I typed it, and sent it. I was nervous, because I know how anonymity can be. I know there can be just one that can ruin things. I didn't even believe I would get any responses. But I did. Quickly did I receive notes with respectful advice, tactful ideas, and everyone of them said they were listening and they were cheering me on too. And I didn't realize, until the tears flowed that, I really needed to hear that. I love the links for mental health help, openly honest about recognizing that maybe there is more than just kind words for assistance. The links are easy access for that extra help in a relative safe space. With all the stigma that still can surround the idea of getting professional help, it is comforting to see opportunities for someone to search for and find help they want in a setting that feels calm and shielded and warm. I recommend this game...though it is certainly more than that. It is a gift.

Pen Pals option please! Allow for an internal and still anonymous friend list, with the ability to send them longer letters. Without the options for maintaining contact, relationships can never form. I guess this is the purpose of this app, to be full of little pleasant messages and advice. It's a shame though that there is no way to progress past initial contact. So if you need a little advice or to vent small messages, this here is your app. If you want to meet people then you're better off joining a small forums somewhere.

I felt sad so I wrote a letter and threw it into the void. The void wrote back and was very kind, it made me feel better.
