  Essentially an escape adventure game, “Escape the Past” consists of four scenarios that you need to resolve to leave an unknown island where your main protagonist became stranded. Game consists of static hand-drawn-styled screens where you need to pick objects and uncover clues, which you then use to solve puzzles that unlock your way forward. Music, though somewhat subdued, is good and fits the scenes well; graphics have a nice touch, but the problem is that some corners are quite dark and it can be difficult to spot the objects to interact with. The game is quite short, each stage will likely take less than 10 minutes to solve for experienced players, and the story you can only piece together from found text scraps, giving the impression that it almost doesn’t matter at all. Still, the game plays well, and it’s available for a reasonable price (plus has trading cards for those who care), so it can be recommended to players who like this type of adventure games.

  Short, what started out intriguing eventually ended with me feeling frustrated and irritated. It reminded me at times of the worst parts of old point and click adventure games. The art was well drawn, but the interact-able items are poorly indicated, so you end up wandering around clicking all over the screen to pick things up. It's easy to miss items of importance that can be small and hidden. There is no meaningful audio or music. The in game text does not well sign post the next step, and I solved a few puzzles by randomly clicking without understanding how I even reached the right answer. The story was not well fleshed out; interesting visuals and a intriguing kernel of a premise did not culminate in a satisfying resolution. I really love escape games, and I would say this is not worth your time.

  I enjoyed this short puzzle game. It took me two hours to complete to 100% but you could do it in no time by following the walkthrough they provide. I did need to use the walkthrough a few times so it certainly isn't easy. The difficulty level is just about right I would say as I felt quite chuffed when I actually worked things out without cheating. I would say the normal price is a bit steep perhaps. I bought it on a 50% sale and I would say that's about right. I could have asked for a refund seen as I completed it before the 2 hours were up but I enjoyed it enough to keep along with my 100% achievements.

  This game made no sense with neither the story nor the gameplay at times. Visually pleasing but little to no story.

  The game starts as a quite goodish escape puzzle, but eventually displays a number of unforgivable flaws : some hotspots do not give user any feedback while all the others do. That makes the game unsolvable via logic and ruins the whole point of puzzling.
