I am an engineer who spends all day working with 3D modelling software. Simply put, Dream Car Builder is what I wish I was using all day at work. The game allows for the creation of an incredibly diverse selection of vehicles, aircraft, and so on, but this is not some cheesy cut-and-paste building system, this is almost more like CAD, (albiet infinitiely more fun to use). The interface is simple, and easy to navigate, and the design control menus are well laid out and very clear. The player is resposible for every aspect of the design, but having a familiarity with CAD is by no means necessary to enjoy the game. Being able to see and feel changes applied to a vehicle's dynamics in the garage while cruising around one of the many maps, makes Dream Car Builder unique. Just playing the game and refining a design can help to develop a real understanding of the way the physical world interacts with a mechanical system. Beginners can start with some of the excellent work posted to the workshop, modify them, or start their own designs from scratch. For advanced players of Dream Car Builder, the sky is the limit. Excellent game, and it gets better with every update. Strongly recommend!

the idea of building your own car seemed fun to me at first but after a quick try i realized that i dont enjoy it afterall and that i preffer drive cars then building them. would only recommend to people who are the opposite of me. game isnt bad itself but not my cup of tea.

Best game I've ever refunded. While the game didn't scratch my weirdly-particular itch for a customization-heavy arcade racer, it would be remiss of me to deny that this game may very well be THE most in-depth car-building-and-testing simulator on the market. Anyone with even a passing interest in designing and testing out unorthodox vehicle designs really ought to check this game out.

For me, there's no other game that even comes close to this. I like to tinker and make stuff; I've tried many sandbox building games to scratch that itch, but have always felt limited by the builder. Many building games dumb down the builder in order to retain mainstream appeal. Dream Car Builder is like the polar opposite of that; it's made for the natural born tinkerers and wannabe engineers. The builder looks more like a CAD program than a video game! (but the learning curve is still easy) Right now, I'm trying to build a car with realistic wishbone suspension, and I'm actually having to do research on suspension geometry and apply real-world principles with the roll centre, caster angle, scrub radius, etc. in order to perfect the handling. Making changes to the shock absorbers and swaybars has the same effects on understeer and oversteer as it does in real life and in sim-racing games. If that sounds like fun to you, then buy this game now.

This is not a game about building your dream car. This is about being the car builder of your dreams. In the past two days I've played about 16 hours of this game. It's amazing how much time you can spend engineering suspension systems and then crashing the same vehicle in 50 different ways. I think the sandbox mode is the only true way to experience this game. You can spend 30 minutes or so working on a super fancy suspension system, then watch it crunch in front of your eyes because you forgot to add a support beam. That just makes it all the more satisfying when you finally get it working. You get to watch your intricate mechanisms working in a realistic way (other than the fact that frames have no collisions, only the points). You get to drive fast and crash in slow motion. Want to make a crab car? A porta-potty that drives? Or a replica of a real car, complete with the same suspension setup? You can do that in this game. That said, there is no logic or programming, it's purely physics-based, which means this game does not scratch ALL my itches... but it sure does scratch a lot of them! Other reviews have compared the user experience of the editor to that of working in CAD. I can see the similarity, yeah. It's just a lot more intuitive and fun than CAD is. There are no sketches, extrusions, tolerances etc. just you and your vertex-based creation. Have fun!

A nice little game thats headed in the right direction. Its in the good hands of a sole developer who isnt lazy and is constantly improving the aspects of his game. There is a pretty in-depth building system here and lots of time can be wasted making cool designs. The physics are also quite complex and fairly realistic. Its currently lacking content. No AI races, multiplayer, manual transmission and controller support. As it stands, its a damn good car-building game.

Very good game, and the developer is constantly working on it (unlike, it seems, many other early-access games). It's great for anyone who's been into those bridge building games, or physics based games, or even just racing/off road car games. Pros: - Virtually bug free, which is fantastic for early-access. - Excellent physics modelling; everything behaves how you should expect it to, and behaves accurately. - Best integration with the Steam Workshop that I've seen in-game. Already a lot of user-made creations. - Custom maps available, though the standard map has a lot of different terrain to get you going. - Level of "OCD" is up to you; you can build a car pretty quick (or customize a default or steam Workshop car) and get racing, or spend hours tweaking every little aspect and getting things just right to shave a second or two off your laps. - Very familiar GUI/controls to anybody who has used a CAD program before. 3-window modelling space is a great idea and works very well to let you see what you're doing. Cons: - Graphics could be better. Based on my framerates, this game could increase its textures and add some better shaders without being a hinderance to even mid-level PCs. - GUI needs an update; the menus and buttons look a bit like an old Windows 95 strategy game or something. - No controller support (YET. This is on the Dev's ToDo list, so check the details and discussions to see if it's been implemented when you read this if controller support is a must-have). Having said that, due to the nature of the off-road racing, the keyboard isn't nearly as annoying to use as a road racing game for the time being.

This game is definitely a recommender for people who love cars, jets, or anything like that. I played the free 2D Evo version, and had a lot of fun. The fact that this game is now in 3D is even better. In short: I love this game The game can be a little bit complicated from time to time, but after you know the basics, it gets easier. (I still have trouble with the suspension :p) Now, don't be all "oh no, this game is crappy, it's broken", because it isn't broken, yes, it may lack a bit of content, but remember: THIS GAME IS IN EARLY ACCESS, so don't expect the biggest things in this game, it's not finished yet, and the developer is still working on it. This game requires at leat a little bit of knowledge of what you're doing. This game is a game where you design, and engineer your vehicle. If you like games like KSP, Scrap Mechanic, Space Engineers, or any games that requires some thinking, this is a game for you. But keep in mind, every joint is capable of rotation on every axis, and will do so! Or, if you like stress-testing other people's cars, planes etc, then you can do that. Like experimenting, engineering, planning, designing, and thinking about your creations? Then this is a game for you!
