  I initially had issues with this not working with windows on my portrait monitor. But to the devs credit, they got in touch pretty quick and pushed out a fixed version that solved this issue. No hacky workarounds required or excuses made, it just got fixed. Imo the UX in this is better than XSOverlay and now that it's working with all my windows perfectly i'll be setting this up as my go-to overlay app.

  Works fine with HP Reverb G2 & WMR controllers. Desktop Portable is very stable and I had no issues navigating my desktop, pulling up various media types and watching online videos. With that said, the way the app is design mirrors what you are watching on to your desktop & as far as I can tell there is no way to disable mirroring. The issue with this is that it utilizes more system resources than necessary when watching videos so playback from a website like Youtube is a bit sluggish from my experience. I have an Alienware Aurora R9 that can pretty much handle all VR titles with few exceptions. I have no video playback issues with other VR players so it's most likely the mirror that needs to be disabled but I don't see any such options within Desktop Portal. It's a pretty stable and solid application otherwise that simply needs a few more tweaks to make it just right.

  As of the time of posting this review, lacks essential features for a paid software, mostly ones that make it difficult to use when in any position other than standing or sitting. - The main menu bar should be grabbable and spawn where you are looking. - The windows as well as the main menu bar should be rotatable and/or rotate according to your headset (toggleable in the settings). - The keyboard should either spawn under the window that you are currently using, in its proximity or have a set position that is chosen by the user. But other than that, it's well-made software! Good job.

  I had an issue with the menu not responding the first time I tried the app, but all is good after a system reboot. So far everything looks cool... a little too cool if you ask me. Hmmm.

  There's nothing that compares when it comes to VR desktop browsing, fluid even on low specs machines and intuitive design.

  New to VR and this app has been a god send for playing VR and also able to use other functions of my PC without having to take off the headset. Typically using discord/twitch chat/spotify for the most part and is essential while streaming VR for me. The developer is very active on discord and constantly working to improve the app.

  Helps me with twitch chat when I stream, works perfect! Especially since I can edit opacity and everything. All it needs in my opinion is a bit more window editing options and anchoring to somewhere like my visor so that even if i turn and move that way it moves with me.
