In a nutshell, the best open-wheel immersion and fun, I've had for many years in any game. The sense of speed, ffb, and intricate handling sets these apart, form the F1 variants, that I found were really good, but slightly underwhelming for one reason or another. When you drive the Formula USA (Gen 2 only as of now) around certain tracks like Long Beach, it makes far more sense with these motors, it's truly a blast to play, especially in VR. The two initial tracks, Cleveland and Watkins are very good, BUT as a rule,(Cleveland being a shortish track) wouldn't have been my cup of tea, but again, in the F USA motors, it's really decent racing. I said last April that Reiza was onto a winner with AMS 2, and this dlc, and recent patches, physics updates have gone a long way towards being just that. A+ ( I have at least 10 hours+ in this dlc,,it's doesn't show for some reason?)

This is a great expansion for a great game. The Indy cars are really good fun to drive with a great sense of speed and the nose cam is not as bumpy in these cars as in the Formula Ultimate cars in the main game so they are more enjoyable as well, although the nose cam views in all the open wheel cars could still do with being damped to a degree to make them not quite so bumpy. Watkins Glen is one of the best courses to race on. Road America, coming this month to this pack, is another classic American track that is great fun to drive. Not that keen on the Cleveland one. Just hope we get Indianapolis, as I loved the old racing game 'Indy 500', and a few proper long and short US ovals eventually like Daytona, Martinsville and Pocono.

Before this DLC came out and since launch the launch of AMS 2, I had roughly 20 hours in the game as a whole. Since this DLC came out, I've put in another 20 hours. Yeah, that should tell you everything you need to know. But if you want to know more, here you go... AMS 2 has done something no one else has in the history of sim racing had done before. They've given us downforce cars that actually maintain their mechanical grip at low speeds. What does that mean? Simply put these cars are some of the best to drive in sim racing as they don't violently twitch and blow their tires off every time you look at the throttle petal. They have a very progressive feel that let's you drive aggressively where no other sim can. If you've seen the Indycar drivers complaining about Iracing's Indycar, drive these once and you'll understand why. Track wise, you get Watkins Glen, which is solid but nothing to write home about. Road America (eventually, it got delayed along with the 2000 and 1995 Cart seasons), and the start of the show Cleveland. One of the greatest Airport Circuits ever built. On paper it looks terrible, 9 turns, extremely flat and bumpy, and extremely wide. However in practice, this track takes the best parts of Sebring, adds a final extremely high speed chicane that will make you crap yourself in VR, and then gives you the first (or final depending on layout) turn of Spa for good measure. It's a 50-60 second thrill ride, and a absolutely travesty that it isn't on the current Indycar schedule.

The cars alone are worth the price and feel simply amazing, and the included rendition of Watkins Glen is also very good, right up there with any other sim. However, I really wish Reiza would stop half-releasing DLC like this; another track to be added later is fine and dandy, but how about you guys just sell me the things you have ready right now, OR sell me everything all at once when it is all ready, and stop selling me half a DLC alongside a promise of more things to come, for the price of a full DLC? Honestly getting a little absurd how unable Reiza is to meet the deadlines they set for themselves; just don't set a deadline, you guys. Release when ready. I was initially excited about the Cleveland track, but for sim racing purposes it's really pretty dreadful. I'm sure it's a faithful recreation of the real-life track, but the extraordinary flatness and complete lack of trackside objects to use as brake markers makes it a nightmare for anyone except those already familiar with the course. Personally, I'd be fine with Reiza taking a little artistic license to add some doodads around the track for all of us who've never visited or watched a real race at this obscure place. It's nearly impossible to hotlap on your own at first (bet half of everyone playing gets hopelessly lost immediately upon leaving the pits their first few times out), and even with an absurdly high camera position it was really difficult to spot where turns were. Perhaps in VR you could raise your head for a better glance at what lies ahead, but for us single-screen pancake guys it's near-impossible to tell where every turn is and would take a ton of practice to ever really race competently on. If you're a fan who is familiar with this particular era and class of racing I'm sure you'll love Cleveland, but for sim racing casuals it'll be a track you load up once, have a frustrating time, and never return to.

The more you drive these GEN 2 cars towards their limit, the better they feel. Though they don't have as much aero as a Formula 1 car from the same generation, but you can still throw them around the corner and expect to see yourself come out right on the racing line. I am really looking forward to the GEN 1 and GEN 3 cars (which are expected to be released sometime soon) The tracks feel alive. The moment you set up a race and see yourself on the grid, the immersion takes over and everything about it just feels right. Cleveland feels majestic when the sun is under the horizon. Definitely worth the purchase, for Cleveland alone. Everything else is just a bonus. Really looking forward to the remainder of the content which is yet to be released.

If you love Champ Car racing in the 90's, this is for you. Brings back fond memories of the game "Indycar Racing" and it's sequel. All we need are the Tracks from those games, and maybe a cameo from Paul Page.
