I really enjoy AoW Planetfall and its other expansions. This DLC I had to uninstall sadly, because the added faction is a ridiculous load of BS that kinda ruins the game for me. Playing against them is such a chore, all their units have constant crits, constant heals, apply every debuff to your units that you can think of while buffing eachother, and are just generally lazyly designed. "There; I put a banner in your ranks that does nothing but ostructs the players view and damges your units. Why it's got and AoE damage and can just be teleported 6 hexes away? Well it's a magical banner! And, having fun already?" You have to outnumber them 2 to 1 to even have a remote chance of success in the early game, in the lategame it better be 3 to 1.. Seriously I'd like to give this a thumbs up since I love the visual design of the units (looking a lot like the Guymelef-Mechs from the anime "Vision of Escaflowne", which I quite liked a s a kid), but I cannot as long as the faction combat mechanics are as messed up as they are.

Star Kings is a great addition to the Planetfall list of DLCs. The space paladins feel very thematic and are fun to play. They focus primarily on Melee and play quite differently from the other races (Oathbound vs Kir'ko is a nice melee vs melee match-up which we didn't really have so far). They synergise fairly well with a number of secret techs, though their 'good' nature makes it harm for them to thematically match with some of the more 'evil' secret techs like Psynumbra. Grail quests are a pretty nice new feature as well, reminds me a lot of a similar feature in the HOMM games. The rest of the expansion is just 'moar'. New wildlife units wouldn't usually be very exciting but there is a new twist, and that is Campaign mode (which is actually part of the free patch and that alone warrants supporting the devs because it is an absolutely huge addition). All these units can now be recruited as part of a large (never-ending?) campaign where you gain experience for your 'empire' as you play more missions, allowing you to customize your games with units, operations, mods from other factions/secret techs/minor factions/wildlife. This is fantastic and really adds to the replayability of the game. It gives you a sense of progression and you don't have to completely start from zero in every game. Overall with all three expansions, Planetfall is now a very well rounded game and stands head and shoulders above AOW3. If you haven't played it since launch, it is worth booting it up again, because a ton has changed (in particular with colony building which was somewhat convoluted at the start).

There is a beta patch already out for anyone having a few selected bugs introduced. I've not run into any so far as I've noticed yet. Ao far as the Star Kings go, I've been enjoying these most of all the DLC so far. They have a nice vibe to them with their paladins in battlesuits and synergies in shielding and mods. Just been messing about with their campaign since it came out today and it's the longest I've played the game for quite some time. If you've bought into the game already then I think this one's a worthwhile DLC for the new race and all the rest of the additions it brings.

As prior, another solid DLC building upon the robust foundation that is Age of Wonders: Planetfall. This is the biggest DLC yet, as it should be with the increased price tag. This DLC comes packing a punch with great additions such as: The Oathbound - a new race with has this weird mix of anime mechs, mystical arthurian seers and a whole paladin crusader vibe going for them. The faction in itself is solid through and through and really differentiates itself from the other factions. One of the most important criteria for me with games like this that have multiple factions is that the factions feel and play unique and I am very happy to see Triumph studio delving even deeper into that. A very engaging and cool faction with a new campaign. I won't talk to much about the campaign because I haven't gotten to play that as much, but as a faction in themselves the Oathbound are ACE. I expected the Grail Configuration to be a bigger factor then it was, but it is actually a pretty big aspect as it is. I guess I just (unreasonably so) expected it to be even a bigger deal. More wildlife enemies - the more the merrier right? More variety on the world map enemies gives more different playthrough and that is always good. I like the new enemies for the most part - I feel so so about the "dark Star Kings", but the others are great. The Psionica are probably my favorite new enemy time (well, expect for the mutated pigs from previous DLC, but nothing can beat mutated pigs!). And there are also additional amazing addons in the form of Galactic Empires play mode which is really great for those who enjoy continuity in their playthroughs. It basically let's you spread across the stars and create the "universe" of your design. Touching a bit into those grand star stategies a bit now, eh Triumph? In addition to that and new world maps they also added endless research. These are for when you have researched everything and still want to get value from all the research you have developed. Though I get the point of this feature, I don't quite see it holding value for me as none of my games last long enough for this to be a thing - but for those who enjoy playing those week long games I guess this should be a perfect fit for you? All in all - I can just say it's the same great content as before, it's just more of it. If you have been enjoying the game up to now there is no reason why this wouldn't give you even more hours of fun to enjoy. The content is well worth the asking price. _____________ Disclaimer: I was given a free copy of the game, but I elected to buy the game regardless and gave away the free copy I was given. A lot of my experience with the game is prior to release and updated after release.

The Oathbound are fun to play and have some fairly interesting mechanics so to me, the rest in the pack is a bonus positive. I got into a 4 hour war with sentient plants. Recommend, would do space knights vs little shop of horrors again.

Just finished a game (couple of hours), and wanted to provide a quick first impressions. Age of Wonders: Planetfall has all the components of expansionism and exploitation for its genre, but I've always felt it lacked a sense of progression and purpose. You're expanding, but why? The new empire component brought with this expansion, of conquering planets, growing your roster of heroes is a well-needed addition. I very much look forward to conquering planets and building up my empire. Haven't tried the campaign or oathbound yet, but I very like the thought of the Empire-building addition with this expansion. It will hopefully make each "win" of hours long games feel like meaningful additions to the expansion, leveling, and rewards of growing your empire. Will add more to review as I play :) But this looks to be one of the more impactful expansions.

The new empire game mode alone is worth the admission price imho, made the game a lot more fun and works better than the campaigns from the base game and other expansions. Also, STILL include with the premium edition and season 1 pass. There's simply no reason to play Planetfall without this.

Nice to finally see a science fiction setting taking you OUT of the grim darkness and into a bright future. As an old softy for the knight in shining armor trope, and a king arthur buff, this is a dream come true for me! Great work!

40 HP. Large unit. No defense mode. The perfect Tier 2 skirmisher.

Must-have. New race is a blast (basically Protoss + paladins). Lots of additions to the world. And a new game mode with a ton of replay value and some new RPG elements. This xpac rounds PF off beautifully.
