  I don't normally write reviews but I felt I had to for this AOE2 DLC. I'm strictly a single player gamer. At first glance, I thought the price was a bit steep for what the DLC added, especially in light of previous DLC price points. Despite this, I bought it to keep my AOE2 game up to date. What a pleasant surprise this DLC is! The campaigns are probably the best out of all the DLCs so far. Each mission is unique and challenging, with differentiating aspects and scripting that makes for some of the most absorbing gameplay in the AOE2 franchise. There are none of those standard base build and steamroll vanilla missions. I hope this DLC sets a precedent for future DLCs.

  How is it that we have the foundational game (AOEII) come out 22 years ago and still be fun? Was it because the mechanics have been polished to a smooth lustre? Maybe. I believe the game engine for AOEI (24 years old) was just made to be a perfect item. What other fantastic games came out in the fantastic 1997=1999 era? Final Fantasy 7, Goldeneye 007, Super Mario 64, Gran Turismo, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Diablo 1, Street Fighter III, Pokemon, Crash Bandicoot, Twisted Metal 2, Blade Runner, GTA, Tomb Raider, Ocarina of Time, Metal Gear Solid, Half Life, Grim Fandango, Starcraft, etc etc etc There was something in the water during this time of videogame making and Ensemble Studios was drinking it up like they had nothing to lose. Metacritic claims this game has a 92%, has over five million copies sold and has had iterative updates to it for TWENTY FOUR YEARS. If that isn't perfection, what is?

  Very good single player campaigns and good choice of new factions. I love how each campaign is linked to the next, and the missions are very well designed. Please, more of this! I would gladly pay for campaign packs if they retained this level of quality. There is so much that hasn't been touched so far in AOE2 considering the width of the medieval age, or that was touched in the early days of lackluster campaign design. Actually, some of the 2000's campaigns focus choices seem very weird now. Like, why don't we have a full Japanese campaign, or a full Reconquista campaign, an Anglo-Saxon campaign, a Danish or Norwegian campaign, a War of the Roses campaign? The possibilities seem limitless, even just going with the most popular tropes. But anyways, I just finished the 3 campaigns of this DLC and my child self couldn't feel more satisfied. Last but not least, it was a pleasure to kick Segismund's ass once more in videogame format. We will never forget what he did to our good folk at Silver Skalitz.

  If you get this DLC then be sure to play all three of these campaigns in chronological order, as the first two together form arguably one of the best narratives found within Age of Empires campaigns, while the third one follows off from it nicely. For the added civilizations, Poles offer some unique economic bonuses to help differentiate themselves from other cavalry civs, while the Bohemians are another take on a gunpowder/monk civ that especially opens up in the Castle Age. Overall good, but it is reasonable if you want to hold off until a sale.

  I play AoE2 only for its singl player content and this one was a treat. Campaigns are very well designed and just fun to play. Also narratively interconnected and best experienced in chronological order.

  This is a masterpiece of a DLC! So far I finished the Lithuanian and the Polish campaigns. Maybe I am a little biased due to my background, but the Polish campaign was a real work of art. The delivery of the story is absolutely breathtaking. I'm very happy that unlike Joan D'Arc, Jadwiga had an AMAZING voiceover. The story of Jogaila, Jadwiga and the Battle of Grunwald is probably the most iconic in all of Polish history. I'm extremely proud that it was shown to the wider community in such a beautiful way. You simply MUST try it out.

  The campaigns alone are amazing. The 2 new civs are really nice too. And for the low price of 10 EURO this is really good :)
