See those 3 hours up there? Those were the same 3, consecutive hours spent immediately after buying this game instead of going to bed. It's now 7:40 and I'm only going to go back in and keep playing after I've written this review.

Afterburn is a behind the aircraft shooter. Sporting frequent new missions to play against other players in a race for the highest score. You are rewarded for your flying expertise. With the ability to apply some miner adjustments to your craft to help suit your playing style. Graphics are very good and apparently a little blocky to reflect older games look and feel. Audio is very good, with satisfying explosions letting you know that you scored a kill. The destruction of cargo ships is especially appealing. All in all I recommend this game. It is very fun.

This game is witchcraft. It's only 45 MB. No not GB, MB! And yet it looks really good, even if it's simplistic, and it's actually rather fun. It's not trying to do a million things at once, it's just a simple game, very straight forward and accessible, though plenty challenging. You know how games once were simple, small and fun, and now many games cost 100 euro/dollar if you want all the content, they take up 150GB of hard drive and do a million things, but it takes a super computer to run it (a PS4 has more TFLOPS than the strongest supercomputer in 1997 and the PS5 has more than the strongest supercomputer in 2000). They aren't very fun anymore, they have a whole big story that doesn't really mean anything, and the actual gameplay is really not that great... Well, let's just say it's very refreshing that this developer is still making the games like the ones that were great when I was young (I'm 32, so it's really not that long ago...). 45MB, 5 euro (on sale) and it does 60 fps very easily on Steam Deck, with the GPU on a lower percentage than I've ever seen. Don't mind the emotional nostalgic rant. Just buy this game and have some old fashioned fun.

I think this game has potential to a really fun arcade shooter. There is definitely some initial fun from first couple of missions. Probably things that could change are the design choices for the different fighter types as they look virtually identical with only slight colour palette swaps. Another thing would be changing keybindings. Most of the controls are mapped to the mouse, which can make maneuvers such as 'rolling' fickle to execute. All in all, I believe that with some more content and some changes to the design, the game will be a fun experience that can get very positive feedback.

Saw this game for the first time maybe a month or over back and it was love on the first site. I just have some games that I knew on the moment I saw them that I would love and play it and still do 100s of h later and I have a feeling this is one of them if you, the dev ,work hard and bring enough content for that. Where do I start? Well first of all I have thing for smaller indie games and secondly I have a thing for fighter jets. Do I need to say anything more? Well I will. This game was an instant pick up for me on the minute I got the email from steam about the launch. Even if it yet hasn't payed me back my 9€ that I invested I have my full trust in Morfeo bringing more content in the future and listening to us players about what we want. If it isn't clear already the only selling point that I needed to see was the trailer and that it's a single dev who answered me within the same day of me asking a few simple questions about the game. I was sold and so was the game when that email dropped. A few additional selling points that I have come across after playing it for a little and taking a closer look at the steam page. -It is so simple and easy to pick up. I mean I could give the controller to my little sister and say that this controls, this shoots, and this makes you go fast and she could play it. -Playing this game with the controller is so much fun and just feels so good. (running the steam controller) Yes after trying out also the mouse that is way better and easier but it just doesn't have the same feel. The only problem with the joy con is that the aim doesn't feel exactly same as with the mouse but I also like the controller feel more. It is missing the ability to point the aim at the same speed, distance, and of course accuracy but that is to be expected with a controller. All in all a better controller experience than mouse and would 100% recommend using one tho it takes a little getting use to (max 15-20 mins). -the third very appealing selling point is the minimum spec list. The game is literally 42mb and could run on the steaming potato that my mother gave me for lunch on the christmas day 69'. I literally think my phone could run the game but it looks so amazing. Like I can't believe it. -The final selling point is the obvious. It's a god dam jet fighter arcade game that is soo fucking awesome. I just love it. and you should too if you're anything like me. Now what I would love to see added besides the obvious of more stuff to do etc levels whatever normal crap. -It would be so awesome to have some proper music. Like you know some proper jet fighter arcade fast paced shooter music. -I would also love to see a way to customise jets. -Multiplayer someday? You and a friend working as a team against a massive horde of enemy. From what I've understood it's not easy but most of the other smaller indies I play all use the steam servers and their tools so maybe something to look into. -Of course just keep up the good work and hopefully bring us some good regular new updates. I think that's all for now. If the game picks up I will update this review but that is to be seen. Hope this was of some help to someone. -Lartzam

I'm rewriting review as It leaved Early access. It has nice and simple flight controls and satisfying explosions, and most importantly very fun, but unfortunately I can't recommend to this to others, especially someone who spend their money wisely. For a game that costs 10$, the amount of contents in this game is almost a scam. During Early Access I hoped the game would get various enemies to fight with, but the developer suddenly decleared it's finished after adding only 4 enemies. even his previous game Furious angels had more enemies. I wouldn't have mind it if it was cheaper or free, but there are so many games with more contents in the same price. The developer is making a sequel so let's hope that game is much more colorful than this overpriced game.

Another arcade style game ruined by: * essentially only rewarding a tedious playstyle with high scores * a lack of precision of player control (3 different control input styles, each of which do something badly) and predictability to enemy behaviour * extremely little variety in enemy waves and attacks and gear for you to employ against them * essentially random hit probability If those sound like problems, I would by far recommend House of the Dying Sun or Sky Rogue to you over this if this looks fun.

A small, but very solid Flight Combat game similar to games such as Star Fox, but most obviously the old Sega arcade game "After Burner". The visuals are really nice considering the game is only 15 MB, and the controls are fluent, but takes time to feel accustomed to. There are some nice unlockable Aircrafts, varients, and weapons, that change up the gameplay and makes the game more enjoyable to play. The game has nice sounds, but does not have any music as of the 1.0 version of the game, I recommend playing some music. The missions can sometimes feel drawn out with the long lasting waves, but this game has a lot of potential, as it had just gotten out of Early Access the day I am reviewing this.

Had early access to the game, the dev was, and is, active and receptive to input. Afterburn is focused and simple. A fun, chaotic, arcade combat flight game. You take out targets quickly while performing daring maneuvers to rack up the most amount of points. Points reset every 24 hours giving you chance to prove yourself "Top Dog" A bit of a difficulty spike as you get swarmed by targets in later missions, but manageable. Don't expect this to be Sky Rogue 2.0, this game was intended to be a straight-forward experience that is easy to get into and challenging to master. There are weapons and skins to be unlocked for each of the planes giving you more options to tackle missions. Each mission (of which there are 6) consists of 1-3 waves with a final challenge mission at the end. 10/10 - Great straight-forward arcade game. Fast, fun and challenging.

id say the Devs description of the game was spot on "Your daily dose of air combat. Super easy to pick up, minimum requirements and vibrant visuals. Setup your aircraft and jump into action!" no BS no "do this extra stuff" just install, load a mission and BAM your in the action
