A game that sadly falls short of the standards set by its peers. Play any other deckbuilding rougelike out there, and you'll probably have a better time. The biggest issues: - A lot of mechanics and math, but minimal resulting strategy. The facts that you keep cards in hand and that your deck doesn't cycle, combined with a restrictive draw means you'll often just play all the cards available. - You'd think that meant the strategic focus was on the deckbuilding, but besides stat buffs and debuffs I've yet to see a single card synergy several hours in (instead you're comparing numbers and percentages with a calculator). The cards, at least thus far, simply don't interact. There also aren't relics, but instead equipment that mainly just increases stats. - The heavy focus on meta-progression (as you are simply sent back to the hub on death) means you'll eventually fall below the curve on your first run, no matter how well you play. Enemies gradually become heavy-hitting damage sponges, as you just feel weaker and weaker in comparison. I'm not gonna grind dust until I got stats to match. Smaller issues: - The party-mechanic is really clunky. You get one more action point per turn when adding an additional party-member, but you can still spend all of those action points with any character. They also share hand and spells, meaning the only reason to ever use a party-member other than your highest damage dealer are the personal equipment cards. - The map traversal is just an annoying chore. When enemies share tiles with anything, they turn into tiny icons that you must hover over to read. You only get a few of your tiles at a time, and sometimes have to waste turns waiting for the one that fits. The fact that the dungeon master places one of your tiles every turn is usually insignificant, but means it can be hard to plan multiple turns ahead. You also cannot see your remaining pool of tiles, even though they are visible when you pick them up. The missions often seems arbitrary (something you would do anyways) and the whole system is an ill fit for this kind of game. - RNG in all the wrong places. Starting hand had much more effect on how quickly I could end a battle than anything I did afterwards. - Non-contextual text-box banter you have to click through that suddenly interrupts gameplay at random intervals. - Unbalanced enemy design. Even on the same floor, and before I had any semblance of a specialised build that could be countered, one type of grunt would take me from full health to death's door, while another wouldn't be able to touch me. - Monotone battles. Lack of strategic challenge (or any real agency for that matter), spongey health-bars, mandatory healing and being forced to use the basic attack over and over when my deck ran dry. - Unclear UI. Enemy intentions are equally complex and multi-faceted to player cards, full of numbers and percentages. Positive and negetive effects on the same stat does not equalize, and there was no way to know how much damage a card would do without actually doing the math. TL;DR: This game actively wastes your time. It's a clunky, boring, grind-fest. Many of the design decisions are objectively bad, and you should just go play more Slay the Spire.

Really enjoying so far! Great art direction and sound track. Mechanics are a mix of Darkest Dungeon combat with deck building. And navigating the map is very puzzle like. Enjoying a lot worth checking out :D My Gameplay: https://youtu.be/XaSYkYBxoHY

Right now it's a pass for me. This game was on my wish list for a long time. I was very excited when I got an email it was available. I didn't play too far in before losing interest. The "puzzle-like" navigation is a turn off for me. I'm going to keep an eye on this as it continues to develop.

I'm enjoying it so far. While I can assume a lot of content has yet to be added, I'm enjoying how it shares unique mechanics from other great deck builders (Slay the Spire, Deck of Ashes, and Deep Space Derelicts) mixed in with the clever concept of allowing the player to modify the labyrinthine strategic map as the EVIL AI works to thwart your building of pathways to the map's objectives.

I played for 21 hours and probably will play even more. I finished the game in 7 hours and I was so disappointed that it is all for now... So I was messing around with different playstyles for next 14 hours of game play. I like the art I like the combat system I like the upgrade system I like the dungeon master trolling you. I hope this project will be finished and I will have more fun... I will probably finish the game without upgrades and maybe then I can leave it alone.

I have been playing A Long Way Down for a few hours. The game mechanics mixes RPG elements with dungeon crawling and deck building, with a slice of rogue like as you could need to polish your stuff before going deep down in limbo. The atmosphere is pretty neat, and background elements for the character are cool. I haven't been annoyed by bugs as I could have read in other posts. Devs are pretty actives and content seems to be on the go.

Great game in it's genre. (Roquelite deckbuilding). Too short in its current form. You have just begun to build up your deck, upgrading cards and items and game... ENDS! I'll sure hope to get more content soon. Pros: +Great tactic level play +Great combat +Great idea about forging, creating and upgrading stuff +Deckbuilding; upgrading and collecting cards is always fun Cons: - Game ends as soon as you are beginning to enjoy and staring forging, creating and upgrading stuff
