The Divine Comedy is the most important creation of Dante Alighieri and is one of the fundamental works of the transition from medieval (theocentrist) to Renaissance (anthropocentrist) thinking. It is considered the masterpiece of Italian literature and one of the summits of universal literature.

It is composed of three parts: Hell, Purgatory and Paradise. The parties assimilate the path of Dante and his partner Virgil during the events and most prominent people in history until then. The exact date on which it was written is unknown although the most recognized opinions ensure that Hell could be composed between 1304 and 1307 or 1308, Purgatory from 1307 or 1308 to 1313 or 1314 and finally, Paradise from 1313 or 1314 to 1321 , date of death of the poet.

The poem has three main characters: Dante, who personifies humanity, represents the temptation of sin, Beatriz, who personifies the Faith and will take Dante to each of the spheres of paradise, to the Empyrean, still space, where he will contemplate the mystical rose formed by God and his elect. And Virgil, who does the same with reason.

Paradise represents knowledge and divine science. Hell represents the human being in the face of his sins and his dire consequences. Purgatory, the slow purification of its faults until liberation. In this work the author tells us with extraordinary realism a wonderful journey during which he meets the souls of great and terrible characters in history; It is a song to mankind that only in faith in God will he find his happiness.
