  tl;dr - I definitely recommend Pedro's Adventures in Spanish. My Spanish is low B1 and the game didn't have a lot of vocabulary I was unfamiliar with. I don't think anyone high A1 and up would struggle too much. However, the game helped me put words I don't normally use into a bigger story, making them much more memorable and easier to recall. Like a lot of people, I thought the price was a bit high. I think I was a bit unfair though. I wouldn't bat an eyelash paying $25 for 7 hours of non-live Spanish video lessons. This is a fully voiced game with custom art, etc. It's a perfectly reasonable price imo. I think the 10-15 hours of gameplay is a bit of a stretch. I AFK'd with the game open and beat it without hints in about 7.

  I've finished this game and have been sitting on it for a while. Thinking about how to write a good review for it. I'm about a high A2 in Spanish right now. I've heard it sometimes referred to on the internet as "false beginner purgatory", where everything is either too hard or too easy. The tricky part is finding content at your level, and that is where this game comes in. When I first went in I was surprised at just how much I was understanding. I was expecting the game to be chock-full of rare vocabulary right from the start. I devoured this game in a little over eight hours. I really enjoyed it. After finishing I went to look for more. I was disappointed to learn that there aren't many games like this. The only way around this problem would be to play games I already have in Spanish--which is fine--but the vocabulary is sometimes so fast and so advanced it goes right over my head. Another thing I like about this game is that it was created by a developer who is actually passionate about language learning and wants to help make it easier, not treating it like a throwaway project. We are in a genuine need for more games like this.

  Firstly - the style of this game is awesome - this is like an oldschool-game, very useful adventure. Secondly - all the tasks in this game help you to get used to spanish speech, memorize new vocabulary. Especcially in cases when lots of wholesome words are being repeated many times during different episodes. And to put it shortly, this game is just an excellent way to spent your spare time. And humour in this game is hilarious. Thank's a lot for this great opportunity to return to my childhood)

  This is so cool for learning Spanish! I have only played it for a little bit at this point but have already expanded my vocabulary by several words already. There is just something about the interactive nature of the game that makes learning fun without having to do a bunch of boring memorization only to later forget about it because it didn't really mean anything to you, but on this when you are presented with something like "Gafas" you will stand a much better chance of remembering and holding onto the word because you need to interact with the "Gafas" on a logical level (finding them, returning them to who they belong, etc) instead of just looking at a bunch of words on a paper/screen. Hearing things, seeing things, interaction, logic all add up into a great tool (and fun game at that) that will definitely add something positive to whatever you are doing to learn Spanish (and here's hoping to other languages in the future)!

  I can't praise this game enough. Beautiful art style, solid controls, charming characters, lovely soundtrack, some really fun puzzles and - most importantly - an engaging language learning tool which doesn't feel like 'work' because it's a genuinely awesome game in its own right! As context I'm at an 'advanced beginners' (A1/A2ish) stage of my Spanish self-study. So far I've found Pedro tremendously helpful, but I think learners at any level would benefit. The game excels at teaching new words and phrases via contextual clues and - perhaps more importantly - also helps solidify existing knowledge so that it feels more 'second nature'. On that point I should say that I quite like the survival mechanic - I understand why some find it a little annoying, but it's a low pressure gig (water and food are plentiful in the game and you can't actually die) and really helps solidify knowledge of those 'food' words. After about 20 hours of gameplay I've now fully completed the game (with all 178 points, woo hoo!) but still plan to do another playthrough soon - this time turning the text off (so I'll rely on audio only) as an additional challenge. I wouldn't normally play a game like this again so quickly but it's such a fun game (plus I'll get to listen to the addictively awesome 'dancing' music in the bar again!) I see that Rocket Boy Games have made French and English versions of the game too which I'm sure are worth a look if you're interesting in those languages (personally I'm praying for a German version!). I'm also pleased they're producing more unique language-learning content - namely the super cool-looking shooter Linguist FPS - and I hope they're able to make some more point-and-clicks in the future as well. So thank you Rocket Boy Games - this is a fantastic game which I'd recommend to anyone.
