Clunky controls make this game unplayable for me. I'm using the Valve Index VR to play this game. - Touching the Track buttons (the small "touch pads" for your thumbs on the Index controllers) will be handled as if you are moving the thumbsticks - resulting into sudden, uncontrolled movement all the time. Effectively you are not allowed to rest your thumbs anywhere comfortable, which is really a problem if at the same time you are supposed to "grab" cubes for prolonged times via the trigger button without suddenly falling off the cliff you have to be standing at. I haven't found any possibility to disable this behavior. - Whenever you are holding a cube and are "touching" any wall with it, it will be knocked out of your hand. I don't know how I am supposed to put the same cube into a small hole inside a wall while standing on a moving platform this way. I gave up on the "Tower" puzzle after failing like 20 times at it for the above two reasons. Content-wise the puzzles weren't that impressive to me either. It's basically just a cooperative puzzle solving (think of Portal 2 coop mode, but without being able to put any portals yourself), but the team is all you and you take turns with yourself performing the separate tasks the puzzle requires. Can probably be nice if you liked Portal 2 but don't have any friend to play with. Or hate the fun you have while doing that. I haven't played this game very far so it would probably be unfair to complain that the puzzles I encountered weren't exactly hard to solve (from the "what do they want me to do?" perspective. Failing the puzzle due to clunky controls is another thing, of course).

This game and The Talos Principle VR were the most fun I've had with puzzles since Portal + Portal 2. I don't know which game was harder between this and The Talos Principle VR. Both were very challenging. Transpose deals more with time and recording yourself up to 8 times to finish the puzzle. You also have to deal with doing all that on ceilings and walls which gets VERY complex quick. M. C. Escher would have loved this. The last level of Transpose had me stumped for several days and multiple attempts. I'd say just by that alone it was the hardest puzzle I've had to solve in VR. Most of the puzzles aren't that time-sensitive but there are some you have to do sequentially synced up with your other "echoes" or recordings and damn it's not easy but it feels awesome when you complete a puzzle. There are 3 worlds, all have a similar futuristic dreamy vibe, all with the same minimalistic synth music. In the entire time I've owned this nobody has posted in the discussion forum. Seems like no one plays it anymore. I found it recommended in a bunch in old VR recommendation threads. If you're at all into puzzles and you haven't played this you're missing out. I played using a Valve Index with Index controllers and my only gripe with the controls is if I wasn't careful I would snap turn when I would toss a cube and it messed up my throw. According to Steam achievements 15% of players have beat the game which is a lot higher than The Talos Principle VR which is around 2.5%. The question is: will you be one of them?

This is a pretty good simple puzzle game. It is very light on story but a small bit of story is there. The environments are really cool but not varied so most of the game looks pretty much the same. However the visual style is my favorite part of this game as its geometric and somewhat psychadelic environment is very well done. The puzzles are a good level of difficulty, but the puzzle mechanics are the same pretty much the whole game its only changed up just barely enough to keep it interesting. Essentially you are able to record your actions and interact with your past and future recordings to get cubes from the start point to their finish point. This can get pretty mind bending as you have to coreograph several recordings with diferent tasks and often different gravitational pulls. f you are a big fan of puzzlers then this is one you should check out. If you are not into games that are simply puzzles then you might skip this.

This review was done while I was about 2/3rds of the game. I have enjoyed this game so far immensely. The soundtrack is very relaxing and the game mechanics are pure fun. The game is rather short but extremely well made and in first line, lots of fun. There are levels that will definitely bend your mind. Can absolutely recommend for people who enjoyed games like Portal 2 and The Talos Principle.

This is just cool as fuck. Love the visuals and the music. Brain microwaving puzzles. An early VR classic.

This game has been in my Library for months and I always want to try it but I have no idea why I never try it. I know it now because you need to play this when it is THE TIME to experience the most TRIPPY and SPIRITIUAL experience in your life. I realized that I am the best teammate of myself and I looked lost most of the time from just the body language in my Echoes. your present is your past to your future self. This game has confirmed that I am an extreme narcissist because I love watching myself so much. Great audio, great environment, cool concept, if you want brain melting VR experience, try this 100%!!

A really good VR puzzle game where you 'record' your past actions to interact with clones of yourself to move cubes and solve puzzles, throw in some gravity switches / perspective puzzles and you have a reasonable amount of difficulty. The main mechanic isn't a new puzzle idea (both 'The Swapper' and 'Braid' do similar) but the fact you are working with your own past movement & actions in VR is pretty great. Can be played via full joystick locomotion and teleport (which you will need to use anyway to platform). It is rather uninteresting but serviceable visually and runs well, the story is vague to non-existent but doesn’t get in the way of playing. I do wish there was a proper seated mode as while it can be played that way reaching some things can be a bit of a stretch. Overall it is definitely worth a try as the VR puzzles themselves are fun and engaging.

General praise for the game is certainly true. Transpose is creative with its 4D puzzles in an unfamiliar way and setting the game within VR enhances that surreal foundation. It’s only through more personal grievances that I find myself unable to step positively away from the experience. Introducing a heavy reliance on throwing in VR has an inherent set of limitations that become irritating when accuracy is demanded. Without hand throwing, it may be possible to play the game without a headset thus making this clever game more accessible. Many puzzles are difficult to wrap your mind around simply because of the repeated, bland texturing and homogeneous blocky platforms. Plenty of time in later puzzles can be spent attempting to get comfortably oriented in that environment. A few color changes to distinguish each angle or perhaps an indicator for the biased gravity of a cube would do wonders for grounding each level. Within these extended minutes of wandering is a fight against the teleport and snap-turn controls that continued to tragically misplace me at inopportune times. This quirk coupled with a disengaging state of visual and situational confusion drained my enthusiasm for uncovering the rest of the game’s mysteries.
