  Okay, before I say anything else you need to know that this recommendation isn't for everyone. I will explain in the Pros and Cons. Pros: Admirably smooth animation and graphics. The controls are extremely smooth and responsive. The characters move fluidly, save for some wonky lip syncing sometimes. The voice acting itself is top notch. I didn't check, but it sounds like the voice actors are the same as from the new MLP series. Cons: The game is extremely short. I 100% completed it in 2.5 hours including all achievements. There also isn't much more to the game-play other than exploring the map and collecting stars, plus a few basic mini-games. Music is nice but can get a little repetitive. The story is extremely basic and predictable. Summary - So with all those cons, why did I give a recommendation? Because I honestly feel the developer easily could have made a much more obvious cash-grab of a game if they'd wanted to. But the animation and voice acting are so good, it's obvious there was some love put into this. It's a shame it's so short, but the game is clearly targeted for a much younger audience than I fit into. For those young ones, this is actually a nicely polished game for them. My hope is that the game does well enough that Hasbro can take note that there is a fan base willing to pay for a good MLP game. Maybe then we can get the G4 game we always wanted.

  Even watching all the cutscenes and getting all the collectables and achivements, the game is still under 2 hours long, and for 40 bucks, thats way to much to ask for, a painfully mediocre game. My expectations were already low cause its a licensed game, a my little pony one at that, but even then, this was pretty painful to go though...

  Here are my main issues with the game: - It's 40 EUR/USD for 2 hours of gameplay. I understand that the game is targeted towards a younger audience, but even if you got three times the gameplay out of it, it still wouldn't be worth the price imo. I would've expected the full price to be more around 15-20 considering the amount of content. - The game is made for controllers and doesn't have keyboard prompts. You can still play the game with a keyboard, but you'll have to figure out what button does what yourself. - There are no graphics settings at all, you're stuck with whatever the defaults are. Those points aside, I think the game is pretty well made and is fun to play. While the gameplay and minigames are easy, which is to be expected from a kids' game, they are still challenging enough to be fun to play. The game is overall pretty polished and has thought and care put into it. I think the price is still a big deal-breaker though. Note to Steam Deck owners: The game controls and runs great on the Deck, but none of the tutorial video clips render. This isn't a big deal if you don't need basic tutorial prompts, but it may be something to keep in mind if you're gonna give the game to the younger ones.

  Before I start my giving my opinion on it, I wonder who is reading my review right now. Is it being read by a brony? In that case, you‘d probably buy the game anyway regardless of what some stranger say on the internet because it‘s a franchise you love. Someone who barely knows anything about My Little Pony, and randomly came across it, wondering why it‘s on steam? There actually used to be a lot of games for kids on steam years ago, but they got removed with time. A troll, wanting to see what adults could possibly like about ponies because it‘s ''immature'' and ''for little girls''? In any of those cases, you either have already pretty much decided if you want to buy this game or not. However, I want my review to specifically target older siblings, cousins, and or parents/other relatives, thinking about buying this game for their children. My Little Pony A Maretime Bay Adventure, is what I‘d consider a better-than-average kids' game. To play it, It would be best to at least have seen the first movie, My Little Pony A New Generation. You can play it without having any knowledge about the about, but you‘d be a bit left in the dark when it comes to certain behaviors or characters, first and foremost Sprout. Unlike my experience with child-oriented games, the characters actually do act as they‘d act in the movies or the series, which I count as a plus. You could beat the game probably in an hour and a half or less. But realistically speaking a child would take 2 or 3 hours, or even 4. The Story is very simple, you follow Sunny and help your friends getting ready, as they try to plan a ''Maretime Bay Day" with you. Someone in Maretime Bay is stealing cakes, letting bunnies loose, and spoiling Pipp's paintings. Your task as Sunny is to find out who it is and get everything back to normal. If you have seen the first movie, Sprout hasn‘t changed much, so topics like prejudice, acceptance, and bigotry are in this game, but very very vague. You still go out of this game knowing that judging other people from their appearances is bad. Back to the game itself, the graphics look really good for what it is. It is and feels polished, and most of the time you are also not locked to a certain area, meaning you can walk around everywhere as you like. If you ever get lost, you have a little butterfly helping you out and directing you where you need to go. All the sequences look good and cute. Everything in this game is voiced and has text you can read along. Something I really appreciate about this game is how it handles mini-games. It's essentially half of its gameplay, but some of them don‘t feel like mini-games, because they were put in smartly. Other than mini-games and watching/reading along, it also offers collecting stars and dressing Sunny up how you like. The more you play and the more stars you collect, the more things you get access to, to dress Sunny in. Dress-up is really not that important of a feature in the game, but it‘s sweet that it exists. I am really certain that kids will enjoy having that option. Except for 1 or 2 mini-games, the game also isn‘t hard to beat. So, should you buy this game? There is no scenario I can think of where it could go wrong. It’s definitely better than just giving them a smartphone and letting them play free games. Speaking from my experience now, when I was young, my cousin bought 1-2 steam games for me and used to let me play if he wanted to. It was something very dear to me and still makes me smile knowing he did that for me. And that I just got to play those games when he was around or when I was allowed to play, also limited the time I got to spend playing the game, which only made the experience better, despite it being frustrating as a kid that you don‘t get to play more. I always used to be very critical of kid-oriented games, because the ones, that I didn‘t play on steam, were really just fast cash grabs off a popular franchise. But I genuinely wholeheartedly can recommend this game. The only downside I can think of is its price. It is overpriced for what it is. It would be best to get it during a sale or as a birthday gift. I hope this review was somewhat helpful to anyone.
