It's a nice convenience to have this collection, if you're like me and mostly play on Steam these days -- and if you don't really feel like busting out old consoles or mucking around with emulators. That having been said, this collection isn't the best - but there's still some good stuff in here. Input lag: This isn't a proper PC port, but rather a collection of poorly-emulated ROMs with a shiny UI. There is a noticeable input latency delay of at least a few frames, particularly in X1 - though it's also present in X2 and X3. On the flipside, X4 felt fine to me. The games are still playable, and I didn't have any problem getting all the Steam achievements, but it's a somewhat sluggish experience. Any kind of speedrunning here is definitely a no-go, as the latency issue is apparent even in casual play (such as when you're trying to climb up a wall quickly). I run a higher-end PC setup (a watercooled 5950x + 3090) so I don't agree with those who say this issue only exists for people running potato-tier PCs. It's a problem that can be alleviated somewhat by removing screen filters or turning off vsync, but it's not a full fix. If you don't notice the delay, great. But... it's there. If performance is important to you, you're still better off with the original console versions or emulating these games yourself. In-game Lag: This collection emulates the SNES versions of the games for X1-X3, which means certain bits of in-game lag are preserved as well (such as the final minecart section in the Armored Armadillo stage). If you prefer the lag for nostalgic reasons, then this is all fine and well - but it makes me wonder why they didn't opt for the newer revisions, like the ones included in the Mega Man X Collection on the GCN/PS2 where this in-game lag was addressed for the most part. Versioning: I was excited at first to see that there was an in-game option to switch between game editions (Mega Man X vs. Rockman X), so I started up Rockman X4 expecting to see the intro video with Makenai Ai Ga Kitto Aru, and yet... the generic NA music started playing over the Rockman X4 video. The scene with the General's salute has also been censored out. While the Rockman editions do have Japanese cutscenes + text (as well as other expected changes like Cyber Peacock -> Cyber Kujacker), the absence of the music is a letdown. Thankfully, the cutscenes are just .wmv files that can be swapped at will, and there are some Steam guides you can look up to help point you in the right direction. So with a little modification, you can get the experience you want - but at this point you have to wonder why you're buying something just to swap out a good chunk of its content. I also wish they went with the PS version of X3 like they did before, since that comes with additional videos/music not present in the SNES version here. Extras: There is a section of the menu containing a media collection full of original artwork, concept art, Japanese MMX trailers, pictures of apparel, trading cards, action figures, etc. While all of this content is free to look up on Google and YT, it's all neatly organized in one place here. It's a pretty cool feature, and probably one of the highlights of this collection, but it's not something you'll spend a lot of time on. X Challenge Mode: The challenge mode is probably the best part of this whole thing. There are multiple stages, 9 in total. In each stage, you choose up to 3 weapons from a small pool of options. Then you have three battles. In each battle, you fight two different Mavericks at the same time. So there's a bit of a strategic element, since you only have 3 weapons to use against 6 Mavericks. You have to prioritize what weapons you think will give you the most bang for your buck. You also have to be careful in how you fight, as some bosses have more advanced attacks when their health drops low enough - which means you may want to completely destroy one boss first. Easy Mode is just "spam to win" and is nothing special - though you have to beat it to unlock Hard Mode, which is where the magic happens. On Hard Mode, you have to actually be careful and know how to deal with two boss patterns simultaneously. Some pairings are pretty tricky, where the strength of one boss can compensate for the weakness of another. The one criticism I have, however, is that many bosses from the MMX series never get utilized here at all, while others show up multiple times. Steam Achievements: Most of the achievements (which also double as in-game "medals") are things you've already done countless times in these games, such as completing them, firing all the weapons, finding all the collectibles and armor upgrades, and so on. Some challenges are a little different - namely things like completing Magna Centipede's stage without getting caught by the searchlights. Which is... actually kind of tricky, haha. It's not something I ever paid attention to before, so it took me a few tries. But the achievements are a nice way to help you do everything there is to do in these games, in case you never really bothered before. Saving: No savestates unfortunately. You have the usual password system, with an additional single-save/load feature. It's basically equivalent to having the game memorize a password for you so you don't have to enter it yourself. Overall... this collection is a mixed bag. Many diehard fans will probably enjoy it anyway, despite its faults - I know I did. Others will find the input latency issue to be a dealbreaker. This is one of those games where I wish I could pick a "Mixed" rating, but I'm erring on the side of a thumbs up because I still had fun. X Challenge Mode is cool, but it's not worth $20 if that's all you're buying it for (wait for a sale in this case). Otherwise I'd say buy it if you like the convenience of having the games on Steam, or if you like Steam achievements, or even if you just want to support the franchise.

Input lag for Mega Man X. I bought this game with the caution of the input lag. I played Mega Man X and estimated that this game does indeed have an input lag. Then I got myself a ROM of Mega Man X and a free SNES emulator for comparison. The game plays very smoothly on the free emulator and it's played on the same laptop with the same gamepad. The input latency difference between this Steam version and the non-Steam one is very noticable. This is very disappointing for an official version. Capcom is supposed to be better than this!

Yeah this ain't it... Not just the input lag but the general FPS problems make these as good as unplayable. Wish i didn't try to keep playing despite the problems cause i can't get a refund after getting fed up that the Sigma battle in Megaman X3 is literally impossible to play due to lag. Most frustrating of all is that emulators do a super fine job at running these. Cheers to Capcom for selling a broken product and not caring.

Bought those collection here after playing on the consoles for my whole childhood. The Rockman X series changed all my life and point of view about videogames, bcaming my favourite franchise ever. The aesthetic, the soundtracks, all touched my heart. Some things that praised me much about this new version was the options to play as japanese (Rockman) or english (Megaman) versions of the game, that have his minor differences, and the loyalty of having the usual consoles slowdowns on gameplay, making the gameplay feel like home to the old players of the saga like me, for example. I didn't like the new challenges in its entirety, sometimes the 32bit and 16 bit sprites mixed in the same battle feels out of place, and some bosses repeats too much between crossover battles. But finally, i decided to perfect this game here to state my love for the series and show it with all my love in my profile. I'm treating a serious disease right now and if i not come back again soon, i leave this achievement completion of the game as a personal legacy. Thanks.

All 4 of the games in this collection are totally worth your time. Each one of them are an absolute joy to play (For me, the exception is X3, but I know a lot of people love it, so it could also be a game for you!) X4 and X2 are easily some of my favorite games ever made. Zero's campaign in X4 is straight up THERAPY for me. While I can only recommend the Legacy Collection #2 to the hardcore Megaman X fans; Collection #1 is easily a must buy for anyone remotely interested in action platformers. These are some of the best 2D platformers ever made, and they haven't aged a day. You will fall in love with the gameplay, music, action, tone, exploration, and replayability of these games; I guarantee it. ======================================================================= However; I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend to go through the guides by user "NightCurse" on modding the game to enhance the performance. These ports are not very performance-accurate. as the random input lag and frame drops KILL the whole experience, as this game requires very precise inputs. The mods are extremely easy to apply, simply tweaking some text files and launch options (no downloads), and it will absolutely make a night-day difference with your play experience, making the games resemble their original counterparts more accurately. Also, trust me on this, you are going to want to follow the guide by user "Kaed✩Wolf" on switching all the English Dub to Japanese Dub for Megaman X4. If you have played X4 before, I do not even have to explain why. If not, look up any X4 cutscene with spoken English dialogue on youtube, and you will be rushing to that guide. Don't believe me? Have a listen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9OVv-J-LXQU

Steam Deck Review This game work perfectly and is amazing on the Steam Deck and deserves a “Verified” rating from Steam! No specific Protons needed and no changes need to be made. Download the game and start playing. Overall: Extremely Recommended.

It was priced low for a collection of classic Megaman titles I used to play on SNES. But sadly, with the resolution, and filter options, I had to result to changing my output resolution just to avoid getting my eyes hurt.
