Errant Kingdom 遊戲特點

Errant Kingdom is a queer, high-fantasy visual novel for PC, Mac & Linux, brought to you by Lunaris Games, a tiny team of five indie developers.

After a long delay and porting the game to a different engine, we have now finished releasing the final version in its entirety. Errant Kingdom contains approximately 590,00 words and over 60 CGs in total. Errant Kingdom has also now been brought out of early access.

The Kingdom of Novus has been thrown into disarray, and it's up to you to decide if you’ll help to bring peace, or if you’ll stoke the fires of chaos. Enter a high fantasy world steeped in political intrigue; where magic touches the land and blood turns the wheels unseen. Dishonor & betrayal. Hope & despair. Pick a side, and meet your match.

Errant Kingdom is a story with darker elements at play. As a denizen of the kingdom of Novus, you're at the heart of watching history unfold before your eyes. Whether you see its rise or fall, however, is up to you. There are those who will help you in your endeavors along the way, and might even find themselves enamoured with you. Though, it is also possible to earn their ire should your plans be devious. Only you will influence how the story evolves, and the most important moves to make are yours, and yours alone.

Errant Kingdom features three playable protagonists (with no fixed protagonist portrait, leaving players free to imagine their character as they see fit) and eight potential romance routes (six individual, two polyamorous). You can also play the game without romancing anyone and it will not affect your experience in any way.

If you choose to purchase the game in its unfinished state, your purchase will give you access to the download of the Prologue and Chapters 1-5. When the final, complete version of the game releases in December, you will receive this as a free update. We have no in-game purchases, and this one-off cost will give you access to a potential 240+ hours of gameplay when taking into account our 8 romance routes, our no romance play-through, and our three different MC roles.

Each play-through has the potential to be vastly different, depending on your choices, your actions, and the way you interact with those around you!

Features

  • Three unique character routes; The Knight, The Ambassador, and The Nomad

  • Six individual romances & two polyamorous romances

  • LGBTQA+ cast

  • Choose your own pronouns

  • Option to pursue romances without sexual content, or to play without romancing anyone at all

Love Interests

Errant Kingdom has a LGBTQA+ cast of love interests, each with their own unique backgrounds and intertwining stories. You will begin the game as merely an acquaintance, but as the story progresses you will have the chance to spend time with each of them. Eventually, if you choose a romance route, you will become exclusive with one (or two, if polyamorous options are selected) of our love interests, and will gain access to special scenes, CGs, and conversations.

All six love interests are romanceable individually, and our polyamorous relationships are Lucien & Raiden, and Maja & Erik. Roux is asexual, and Livia is demisexual. Our story is linear, so once a romance is selected, you will still interact with all of our other cast members! We're trying to bring an RPG style of gameplay to the Visual Novel world, and this is one of the elements we're most passionate about executing well.

When you waiting that much, all hype and interest in this game is fading. I expected the delays, but that's just too much. Maybe its not a good idea to grab several projects when you have unfinished game that you already sell. Don't know if it atone everything when latter chapters will be released.

I really tried to be positive about the game, but I can't. Originally game was sold as being updated bi-monthly, but about over year ago devs decided, that they don't want to do that anymore and game will be updated all at once in 'couple of months'. Since then, there was no update and we were only given vague excuses, that they works sooooo hard (usually on stuff, that is unimportant like redoing art for way overdue game). So yeah, for now game is one, big scam and I would ask for refund if it wasn't too late. Game also promised at least 12 CGs per chapter and for now only prologue delivered that. Also chapters are getting shorter and shorter with each update. Even without all this plot is medicore at best, being uneven mess where some characters gets way more screen time (and more interesting scenes) than others. So yeah, please value your money and take it somewhere else.

Let me be straight with whoever reads this: I like the game. I love the story and the characters. BUT! It's been in development for years, and there's no credible evidence from the studio that it's ever going to do be finished. This game is incomplete and likely to remain so based on the vague and infrequent communication from the studio. If you get invested in stories and characters (if you don't, why play games like this one at all?), avoid this at all cost. Getting half a story for full price is not what I call value for money. Avoid.

I spent months checking Itch for updates of this waiting simulator, and, you know, I was willing to let it slide. I was so excited to finally play it this December and be done with it. But no. The game currently consists of a prologue and one chapter, which is less than we had previously. And now we have to wait 2 months to see IF the game will finally be out after years of waiting. And that's with devs not telling anything about the current state of the game. Is the writing even done? And if it is and the only thing left is beta testing, why didn't Lunaris try to find outside beta testers? They have Kickstarter backers, Patrons, people, who bought the game on Steam and Itch. Sooo many potential beta testers, and they won't even think about using their help. At this point, I feel like the devs want their fans to hate them.

Time after time the developers say "the game is almost finished". Have been saying it for more than a year now. They switch from periodic release to full release on Dec 20th, just to announce the day before the game is not ready and is back to periodic release with only prologue and chapter one available? The early access version initially had more content that this, what happened in the last 8 months? What happened to the "game is almost ready"?

They Bamboozled us hard. I supported this game, had patience, not even once complained. IN FACT, I called out folk on Twitter for giving the devs a hard time. The fact that they removed every episode that was out FOR YEARS, after promising for a whole year we would have the game finished by December. Actually, I would have not minded if they had said "you know what? we're moving the release date to February, sorry it is on us, sorry this sucks I know but this is something that happens, we are moving the release two more months to have it perfect" I would have not minded, but the re-release with MISSING chapters is such an ugly perverse thing to do. They have been working on that damned underwater VN or whatever, and ever since they stopped caring about this. To me, the other game is cursed now, and utterly ruined over how they have abandoned and mistreated this title over the other one which in all honesty does not even seem that good. I would have much preferred the honest truth that the chapters were not ready, and that we needed to wait a little bit more. I would have understood. But this? This is blatant disrespect and an "eff off" to everyone who MONETARILY supported the game. Awful behavior.

I understand the negative reviews that have been coming in and I agree, that the developer did not handle communications and the actual release of the game, or parts of it, well. I am also one of those that that have been waiting for ages and when it was said, that the game would no longer be released periodically but as a full game but later, I grumbled but accepted it. But the last move to basically retract this statement a day before release, just to inform everyone that it's back to periodical releases... that did not sit well with me. Especially not, considering that we started out with less content than we previously already had. HOWEVER - I really do hope, that Lunaris Games will learn from this and work on communication, because that would have likely stemmed the flood of the negative reviews, because the game itself is good! Good enough, that people have been waiting desperately for it to be fully released! I've played the game on itch.io and all the content that had been previously available and I still highly recommend it. The art work, while not always consistent, is beautiful, the characters diverse and unique and the story is engaging! It's a beautiful, at times dark but also made me laugh and pulled on my heartstrings. So, as far as Visual Novels go, I think that Lunaris Games does a great job and I do hope that people will give them another chance, not just with their games but also to do better in the future. And if you're in doubt, wait until it is fully released.

I'll be honest I had high hopes for this game as I loved When the Night Comes, but this is letting me down in nearly every facet, and I'm disappointed. Even with episodic releases of the finalized chapters there are still spelling and grammar issues that are glaringly obvious, and the inconsistencies between the multiple art styles being utilized across the game is jarring and makes the same characters look like different people across different scenes. Some of the characters are interesting and compelling, but others the game has to convince you you like in order for them to even be tolerable. It's also honestly startling how much more forward/inherently sexual more of the romanceable dialogue choices are for characters before you have had the option to choose which love interest you are committing yourself to. The pleasant romancing of WTNC has been abandoned for blunt sexual advances. The icing on the cake is the player character just feels like an absolute idiot. Any sense of overarching plot or direction/character motivation is hard to find at the best of times, but when your character keeps aimlessly walking around places on a "gut feeling," as a vessel for finding LIs to talk to, it gets boring very quickly waiting for moments of ACTUAL relevant plot to arrive. It feels like all the genuine plot is being saved for later chapters or to be dropped at the end of each release to keep players coming back, and I have SEEN these developers craft a better and more compelling story, so this really feels like a let-down. Not to mention all of the issues with the development of this game clearly getting shirked and sidelined constantly, it just feels like they didn't care enough to actually polish the game, and instead put out what they had to get it off their hands. I will continue to support future releases from them but this was a serious blow to my confidence as a fan in their ability to produce future content. TLDR; the plot is barely existant, the game tells you how you feel about most other characters you're meant to romance, and the dialogue and art is startlingly inconsistent at times. Wait for the full release if you plan to purchase.

It's unfortunate that the devs have dropped the ball on being honest and upfront. We are all aware when we are being excuses. You CANNOT know that your whole team won't be ready to release w WHOLE game the night before the release, extremely unfortunate. I've commented a lot about the development, but I only comment due to the love of the games. I wouldn't recommend this game at ALL until it's done. CHECK THE DISCUSSIONS BEFORE YOU BUY.

TLDR; Honestly? This doesn't even hold a candle to Lunaris Game's other title, When The Night Comes (WTNC). I would refund if I could. I was a purchaser of early access and was excited by the impressive story of playing WTNC as well as the introduction to their other work in the store. The art in this game is gorgeous as it always has been, but there are numerous drawbacks even upon their final release. First and foremost, the chapters are being released fortnightly after eons of just being partially released, and even then, there are spelling errors and a few minor bugs in scenes. Moreover, some of the dialogue of certain characters is poorly written and gives the impression of half-baked effort put in the transitional scenes before the main narrative. Second, it's true this game isn't even partially voiced, and that's not necessarily a drawback, it would've added SO much. Third, interaction with love interests is.. fine. Occasionally speaking with them feels like talking to a wall. There's a lot more that could've been done to breathe live into them and yet it just falls flat. Fourth, the story pacing is foul. Upon writing this review, I have personally played up to the most recently released chapter, which is 5. We have one love-y scene with our LI, and then we are thrusted back into the narrative with little interaction besides some cute conversation in maybe two instances. The game should've been longer if the release of the next chapter will be the concluding one, because the way it is currently makes me uncomfortable in anticipating a finale when it feels like we're still in the beginning stages of the story. Overall, communication with the devs is poor, this visual novel is probably not worth your money, and unfortunately it's just a flat experience.
