Descent 2 遊戲特點

You're going down... again.

If you thought Descent™ went to the edge of 360° 3D power-blasting sensory insanity, then prepare yourself. You're about to plunge over the edge, and into the depths of Descent II™.

Suddenly warped into the outer reaches of the Zeta Aquilae System, your new mission sends you into the black depths of treacherous alien mines. You blast through enemy robots with powerful new tools, leaving their flaming hulks in your exhaust. Your ultimate goal: to exterminate the alien robot stronghold from the enemy Alien Base and claim total control -- it's 30 new levels of outrageous destruction.

But this time, you're not alone.

Joining you on your deadly new assignment is your loyal Guide-bot. This faithful companion rushes with you through the twists and turns of the menacing darkness, often scouting ahead to hunt down the orbs, powerups and tools you desperately need to complete your job. But beware -- raging enemies are still determined to destroy you, including the menacing Thief-bot who's set on stealing your weapons of destruction and precious powerups. Get ready -- Descent II™ is about to take you on a whole new synapse-smashing ride.

I was around 30 already when the Descent 1 demo appeared, and for me this game was a revelation. I had played Doom before, but it wasn't my cup of tea really. Descent however had me the moment the entrance room of Lunar Outpost appeared in front of me on my monitor, moving slightly up and down as my ship gently wiggled. Descent's gameplay is very unique because of the full freedom of movement in all three spatial axes. For its day (and if looking at what many game devs consider "AI") the robots (the game's "NPCs") had a very good and quite diverse AI. Depending on your point of view, gameplay of the first two titles of the series can seem bland or refreshingly straight forward, which is very much owed to the abstract and artificial nature of the levels and lack of unique and varying tasks and goals in different levels. Still the basic principle of the game seems very appealing to me. On the other side, if you are looking for great and frantic multiplayer action, Descent imo still is one of the best games out there. It greatly rewards skill, offers a huge variety of explosive gadgetry and allows for creative gameplay. There are also several fan-driven mod projects improving the game and allowing to run it on modern OS's and hardware. If you really want to enjoy Descent even today, you should download and install one of these. The one I prefer (and maintain) is D2X-XL, which allows to play Descent and Descent 2 in vanilla mode like in the old days, but also has a ton of optional enhancements for those who like to try a fresher flavor of Descent, offering high resolution textures, better models, improved sound, colored light, many effects (smoke, fire, lightning, weather, glow, etc. - stuff that is standard today), and much, much more, and on top of that has Oculus Rift support. There also are great new missions available for D2X-XL, breathing new life into Descent with diverse, detailled levels, improved graphics, new level mechanics and non-standard objectives. D2X-XL runs on MS Windows, Linux and OS X. Find it on http://www.descent2.de .

    - Negatives N/A ~ Mehs - Graphics aren't easy to digest at first, even being a player from original release times. Seeing them in game while whizzing around makes it not matter. + Positives -You're a space pilot with complete 3D camera rotation and movement with a load of badass weapons, I'm glad its 'inside' to have points of reference so I feel like theres an up. (See Freespace 1 and 2 for an 'in outer space' experience) -I NEVER give credit to awesome soundtracks on games (I don't know why), I need to give it here though. - Great level design, builds up really well from beginning levels. - Choice of using guide bot is really nice, some levels can suck to navigate. - Controls are still really tight, and with a little tweaking of your keyboard it's even better. - Gameplay still holds up like a freaking boos, this is where it really counts. - The minial vioce acting the game has is really good while it's around, along with its minimal yet interesting story. Personal Rating: 9.5/10

Soundtrack is great, played this game back when I was 4 years old on an old Compaq Windows 95. Buy it.

Somethings to note about Descent 2 It's NOT actually a FPS. It's Space combat simulator. Though it does contain A LOT of shooting. And if you -are easily frightened -Get nauseous very quickly -Can't stand a lot of light at once Then I don't recommend this game to you. Positives -Great Atmosphere (Even though it's early polygon. I got sucked right in.) -The enemy designs are Awesome and terrifying -The AI is ...Smart. -The Guide bot is REALLY useful -Weapon selection is Fantasic -Levels, though bland in the visual sense, are fun to play through -6 axis combat is thrilling. -Multi-player is an absolute BLAST! Neagatives -Controls are...Not bad...Kind of. (It's hard to explain unless you play it.) -Music...I'd rather have it off. Half of the game is played with your ears. Each enemy has their own sound, but the music can drown that out at points. -Levels can drag on for too long, not all, but a good amount. Honestly I can't recommend this game enough. Give it a try.

A fine addition to the descent series. This game improves upon the mechanics famously dsigned in the original with quite few improvements and new and lethal bots that will keep you entertained for many hours. Again like its predecessor, this game is great for single and multiplayer. A true keeper!

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love this game. HOWEVER: For an almost 25 year old game costing 10$ I expect at least some preservation to be done and not just running the original files in DOS-BOX. Especially since there are free source-ports for modern Windows OS available. I don't understand why the publishers did not do something along those line (if some dedicated fans can make a really great port for free after all). The absolute minimum I would expect for a game that age sold on Steam for 10$ is support for modern resolutions (not necessarily high-res textures), support for modern controllers (X-Box controller) and not having to be run in a Dos emulator. I mean, the guys from Descent Rebirth did all of that an much much more. So to recap, my only reason for the negative review is that there was ZERO effort put in by the publisher that warrants the 10$ price tag 25 years after the retail release.

I used to play this game alot. To a point that i knew and still kind of know most of the secrets this game offers. I always loved how this game had such incredible movement freedom....up down left right forward back and even pitch rolling. This particular version had flash missiles that would blind enemies and anyone or any enemy close by to the detonation. It also featured an after burner and a guide bot. This one also introduced the theif bot. Anywise the usual concept...you are a mercenary employed by the PTMC to invesitagate their mining operations. It seams some computer virus from some unknown source has corrupted their machines and its up to you to destroy the machines, rescue the workers and destroy the mines in hopes the virus wont spread. The game plays fairly well, and is alot of fun with multiplayer. This version had guided missiles and missile cams...thus you could fly a missile and chase your enemy. If you play multiplayer its even more fun. I recommend this game to any one who likes old nostaligic games from the early 90s. I also recommand this game to people who like first person shooters with 6d movement ability. No not messing up....3d games are you go forward back and can look and maybe jump....but goin in anydirection and control pitch is 6d(ie you can move diagonaly or slide one way while moving your point of view another way). If you do get this game...you might consider looking up the descent rebirth projects on the internet, as they are special loaders that improve the gui and other parts of the game. But you still need this base game to use those things. One more interesting tid bit about this game...yes aside from me actualy being one of the first with the codes i spread all over the internet way back when becasue the developers gave them to me first..... This game as with its previous version of Descent 1 had a curious feature of allowing you to play co-op and the usal detah match games....but also the game play literaly didnt even try to synch all the players....thus a person with a really fast connection and really good machine...would out perform some one else with not a very good connection or good machine. What that means is....if some hacker was trying to lag the game they only messed themselves up....programs like aim bot never worked very well with this game because unles syour machine was fast and you had a good connection better then your opponent you shots would still miss. Kind of interesting....no attempts to synchronize or do things like that resulted in a pretty good foil to hackers. Other things like making your self take no damage for example....if against another player this game was designed to not compensate for that always....sooo...you could always get kileld no matter what hacks you tried to use. Its part of the reason its mutiplayer pvp was so popular for so long.

Ok, first off, you don't have to run the game through DOS Box - DX Rebirth is a much better port and works well with STEAM - read the forum post on Widescreen Support for more info. What is there to be said about the game - it is a classic, the gameplay is frenetic, it really tests your reflexes and the enemies just keep on coming :) Back in the day I had hours and hours of fun with Descent and Descent 2, then lost the discs and have been wanting to play this ever since. Played it again last night for just a few minutes and was hooked all over again ... Only gripe is the price - it should have been offered for 50% off just like Descent, other than that, I have no complaints :)

As soon as I saw Descent get released on Steam I knew they'd have to follow with Descent II. In my opinion, Descent II is one of the best games ever created. Combining the amazing 6DOF and 360x3D with even better graphics, enemies, and maps. The only really negative thing I have to say about this release is that I think they could have set it up to operate better on current systems (enhance resolution support and so forth).

Best Descent gamer ever in my opinion. Descent II was the first game of the Descent series i had ever played and it was captivating on how truly remarkable its visuals were and still are for such a classic game. Gameplay is simple and easy to control much like the original Descent with the added feature of having the ability to obtain an afterburner to give you a speed boost. in regards to the changes of visuals and mechanics of the game, it remains much like how it was in the first game but with added particle effects and a few graphical tweaks. One major difference between Descent II and it predecessor is the added music to the game, simply amazing, would be one way of describing it, but in all seriousness the music of the game comes from Mark Walk and Type O Negative and i believe from Ogre of Skinny Puppy as well. They are a collection of Industrial artists that collaborated in the makinf of Descent II's music and to great success as it adds a whole new depth to the new game, providing another punch in the intesity of the overall game. As for the added functions to the game not much has changed though there are a few new weapons and missiles one can get, as well as a few ship modifications as well. Overall Descent II will always be worth purchasing, whether it be for its incredible music or its classic, fun 3d shooter mechanics. Definitely worth every penny!
