Malicious apps can have a screencapture module implemented, allowing the malware to record the screen of the device, a functionality that could allow attackers to monitor and store what's viewed by the user – a good way of secretly stealing information like usernames, passwords, private conversations and other confidential information that could allow attackers to gain access to the payment data they want to steal.

FAQ:

1) Why are screenshots and recording working on my locked screen or for the notifications although the protection is enabled?

- Since Android 8.0 and above, screenshots and recordings can't be blocked anymore on the locked screen or for upcoming notifications.

2) I can still record the screen. Is my protection not working?

- Although you can record your screen, the recordings are blackened. Your protection is working great.

3) Why can notifications be recorded although the rest of the screen is black?

- Due to the protection behavior in Android 8.0 and higher, only the main screen can be blackened for recordings.

4) Does it work on Android 12+?

- Yes. Screen Protector was tested and works on Android 12+.

5) How can I see that it works?

- If the protection is running, then try to make a screenshot. You will get a notification by the Android system that restrictions disallow screenshots. If this appears, then the protection is working!

6) Does the whitelist of Screen Protector block apps that have the ability to record/screenshot OR is it that the particular app added to the list can BE recorded or screenshot (by anything)?

- The latter one: that the particular app added to the list can be recorded or screenshot (by anything).

7) Does this app impact battery at all?

8) I only want to protect specific apps and not all. How can I do this to not add all apps to the whitelist?

- Navigate into the Trusted Apps -> Click the three icon in the top right corner -> Set the "Trusted Apps Mode" to "Blacklist". During blacklist mode, screenshots and recordings can be made for all apps by default. Apps added to the blacklist are protected and screenshots and recordings are blocked only for them.
