Different approach to side scrolling puzzler by fusing words puzzles. Got it on sale and its worth it, short and easy. Has 2 mini games, if you like to brush your vocabulary and play words for fun. nice ending and innovative 7/10

Admittedly, Typoman's core concept of literal wordplay is commendable. Yet, all in all, I didn't quite enjoy the game. Pros are that this is a word game and you can tinker around with your word idea to solve the puzzle. Cons are that too many a time your idea was not working and it left you wonder just why, and that the control are rather clumsy, especially for the grab-push, grab-lift parts. Not to mention the game still suffers from a major bug (the 'trap' bug) which does not allow the player to progress. It can be overlooked, but the game's been out for so many years and any big issue like this should have been patched off already.

Typoman looks like it would be a lot of fun, and the concept is super cool. In reality, it is a Limbo knock off that doesn't do anything nearly as well. The control scheme is absolute garbage and are not responsive at all. Some puzzles are well made, some don't make any sense at all with the words needed to pass them. The range at which new letters can be pulled in to make words seems to change on each puzzle, and where the words are placed when you come out is nonsensical. You really think I want to put the safe word I had to quickly build half a screen behind me, split down the middle by the terrain, thus breaking the safe word? There's a reason I moved all the letters to a nice flat spot. Save your money, even if it's on sale. You'd be better off paying someone to kick you in the balls repeatedly for an hour.

Beautiful and clever game. Nice combination of side scoller and puzzle game. Using letters to form words to solve puzzles is innovative. Lot's of fun to play.

Great puzzle platformer! It's a little on the short side but if it was longer it might have been too repetitive. I finished my playthrough in about 3 hours and I'll definitely be playing it again for the collectibles I missed and some achievements. My recommendation is to not use any guides. There seem to be multiple ways to get past certain areas and it's incredibly satisfying when you figure the puzzles out on your own.

Really fun game in the vein of Limbo / Inside, with a lovely art style and some fun puzzle mechanics. The use of letters / words in the world is particularly interesting and often quite clever. The length is roughly what I'd expect for a game of this type, and the world building was generally pretty fun. The somber atmosphere in the game feels juxtaposed with the quirkiness of the mechanics, in a way that I mostly felt worked, though I think it could have benefited from pushing some more in the direction of words and the good/evil light/dark nature of the game - something in the vein of a "Once upon a time" fairy tale. Instead, the bits of story that you find read more like a soldier's war diary. It still mostly works, but I think it could have been improved. I could see this game as being a frustrating for people who aren't interested in wordplay, and I applaud it for not dumbing itself down to appeal to a larger crowd. It's made with an intention and even in the cases where it doesn't completely work, it's still worth experiencing. [EDIT] Fixed a typo, hilariously enough.

This game is fun. This game is clever. This game has an ending that will make you smile. This game is painfully short. Generally I aim for at least an hour of gameplay for a dollar spent on a video game. Typoman doesn't even come close, even at a 50% discount. But still I recommend it. Why? Because this game has the right words. In a game where your enemies are the vilest of words given form, virtues are your shield and sword. There's an inherent moral core expoused in the player's vocabulary that makes Typoman a surprisingly wholesome experience. I walked away with more than a smile from a game well played. I am satisfied by a story well told.

Good: - Litterally your WORD has POWER. This game throws you something to think about. - Nice approach to Word scramble + Story - Really clever puzzles and cutscene. Devs are genius. I thrilled on neally every scenes. - Not repetitive. Neutral: - Game is little dark and creepy. Not like 'Limbo', but if you hate creepy atmosphere, you may be disappointed. - Short playtime. I reached to ending in about 2.5 hours. Bad: - Sometimes, puzzles have flucturing difficulty level. Mostly good, but a few were too hard or too easy. - Bugs. In my case, whenever my HDD swap occures, letters stuck somewhere. If you bought this game, reach all the way to ending to fully enjoy it!

If you're the type of person that likes playing games with an uncomfortable control map you can't change, glitches that cause you to reset time and time again, puzzles that make you feel like an idiot for not being able to solve them, a story thats only amusing the first playthrough, and achievements that are so tedious it's not worth the effort, then I'd avise you to never make a video game. Also that you might like this game. I am a writer, I like words, and this game has a charming artstyle and original concept, so I thought "hey, why not?" What I didn't know is that this game requires you to have a guide, a thesaurus, and an alternate guide to cross reference the first guide while playing it so you have a semblance of a clue as to what you're doing. After the first playthrough, the game loses it's charm fast as you're stuck hitting retry everytime you thought you could make it across the jump/rush, everytime a baddie nabs you, and everytime the game just decides to go AWOL and not run a cutscene or the script that makes npcs actually do things. And don't even get me started on party mode. Trying to figure out what word is the opposite of a word with an R in it 167 times over is not my idea of a fun time. I tried to like the game, I did, but overall it's just repetitve, tedious, and annoying.

A novel puzzle platformer; fun but frequently frustrating when you are stuck on a level and think you have tried every possible word and action. My wife and i played it together, although there is no coop mode, handing the conroller back and forth. Its a good game to do that because she will try sonething that i did not think of. We got thru it only having to go to the you-tube well once i think. We thought the ending was particurly frustrating because all the sudden the ui to spell words was different for no good reason and we could not delete letters but eventually figuerd it out. The final cut scene was unnessisarily long and dramatic but overall a thumbs up.
