I own and have completed SE2 (original), SE3, and SE4 on Steam. I love the series. But I can't recommend SE2 Remastered unless you get it at a large discount and have not yet owned/played SE2 original. The only reason I bought SE2 Remastered is because Rebellion gave series owners a discount. I thought there would be a large improvement in the game. But, there isn't. Are the graphics better? Yes, in some small ways. Is the game improved? No, and that's the biggest disappointment. You can't skip cutscenes. You can't disable (can only reduce) X-ray kill cam. SE3 and SE4 let you do this, so these features could have been added. Weird glitches occur - I was once halfway through a map, placed a mine, and then couldn't shoot any of my guns, so I had to restart. The maps still contain weird obstacles - you think you can walk over/past something, but your character is bumping into/stuck on something. Maps in SE3 and SE4 are much, much smoother and cleaner. Multiplayer in SE2 Remastered died out very quickly, probably because no one really wants to play it. The SE4 multiplayer scene is still so much more active. So, buy SE2 Remastered only if this is your first version of SE2 and you want to experience the story. And if you want 100% achievement completion, you will need to look for partners on the Discussion board. Or, you can skip SE2 and go straight to SE4.

This game doesn't need to exist. The original got the job done and this "remaster" doesn't bring anything interesting to the table. Well it does have photo mode, yay... Actually this isn't even a remaster it's just a texture pack essentially and... it isn't even a good one. The only noticeable difference is that Karl mostly looks better, not including his hair and eyelids which actually look worse. Also for some odd reason they have taken out the swastikas. I guess they didn't realise that the game takes place during WW2 in Berlin the capital of nazi germany, but oh well. There are some bugs that weren't present in the original, like enemies glitched inside objects and levels not proceeding properly causing me to restart the level. These are pretty minor annoyances but I decided to mention them since they weren't present in the original and this is supposed to be "remaster". But the most scrotum grinding part of this game is the Sniper elite difficulty, more precisely a part of it. Mostly I like this difficulty, enemies are trying to flush you out with nades more often, they rush you more and give the pushing enemies covering fire and most importantly you have to calculate yourself where your bullet is going to land. But the dung that this difficulty has is the pinpoint accuracy of your enemies, especially the snipers. Snipers are basically Clint Eastwood with an aimbot. This is one of the worst and lazy ways to make the game more difficult. It demolishes the other ways great hard mode, not including the massive damage that your enemies deal to you, which I can live with. Maybe if they would make a remaster they would address this some way, oh wait... Overall this is a really lazy remaster *cough* texture pack *cough* that adds nothing remotely interesting to the original. And the fact that they charge 34,99 euros for this is laughable. If you own the original (its 9,99 if you own the og but still not worth it) just stick with it you aren't missing anything. If you don't own the original you can probably find it from somewhere else. If not then just buy the 3rd one, it has lots of more content and it's more refined.

Didn't know you could sell a update as a full game. It would have been a lot better if this game was done in the same engine that SE 4 uses (new movement possibilites, better killcam, better AI and stealth) The upgrade price is okay if you didn't bought the DLCs. But 31,49/35€ is a lot for a game from 2012 with some texture improvements. Now you have the same problems like in the original: After just one shot, every enemy knows exactly where you are. And something I've noticed: Why the hell is there still blood coming out of the charges placed in the first level (Schöneberg Streets) when shot? I think the idea of an remaster should be to not just improve the original but also expand on it. For example, the new climbing mechanics of SE 4 could have provided so much possibilities to climb on a roof to give yourself an advantage. Let me say it like this: It looks better, but doesn't feel better. EDIT 16.05.2019: I'm now halfway through the game and I can confirm that there is nothing changed in any mission (gameplay-wise) - It's just a sad attempt to get some money. A really sad one.

I bought this game to see how much different could it be compared to the original Sniper Elite V2 after all these years. Sad to say this game is one of the biggest cash grabs I've seen by the Sniper Elite franchise so far. Game mechanics are exactly the same even after all the upgrades done to the newer titles, the developers did not even bother to implement them into this remaster. The game is exactly the same to the old game just with slightly better model textures and the characters having different haircuts. Audio has slight improvements. Like most other reviews would say this is not any much better than the original game. I also realized this game has been turned "Politically Correct" as where any Nazi references have been cut out of the game, reducing the overall sense of World War 2 immersion. If you have never played the original Sniper Elite V2? Yes, go ahead and buy this game and see for yourself If you have the older version of the game and got that $9.99 offer? Stay clear of this scam. Hope this review helps people save money.

*** I asked for a refund! *** In short: It's a money grab. watch this video someone made! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xtxAj5Sr36Q Almost exactly the same game. There are no tweaks no major tuning to the game. Most graphics are the same, Just in high res textures. Some looks like it's 2010's graphics. Character faces have "rust" like look. Vehicles are mostly the same. character design is a little improved but no major improvement. Character hair looks like "lego head hair". I am really disappointed. I'd expected a 4K 2019 Game & Graphics experience and got a remake with high res textures. It still has that annoying thing that enemies knows exactly where you are 100% of the time and all of the bugs the original SEV2 had. Not recommended .

Don't buy this if you already have the original version; no major changes really.

Not really a remaster. I set graphics to ultra for everything and it still looked nowhere near as good as the screenshots appear. Not worth it if you have the original.

There is a lot to like about this game. I do not appreciate the censorship that was done to this game though, not at all. Censorship is never ok.

+ You get the original V2 included with this remastered version - The remastered version is basically the same as the original V2 As a standalone upgrade, this is not worth it in the slightest and is another damning testament to the devaluing of the remaster concept. This re-release was conceived just to sell the game again on the newer consoles (PS4/XB1) which makes more sense than this seemingly pointless upgraded version for PC. Even maxed out, it basically looks the same, or similar to how a free texture pack mod would look. Also newcomers to either version should be warned that the game works significantly better with a controller - mouse and keyboard is far too janky and animations look very twitchy and erratic even with dramatically lowered sensitivity. In all fairness it's not bad getting both games especially in a deep sale but there really is no reason to play both - the original is perfectly fine and the remaster does very little to justify its existence.

I have played all of the Sniper Elite games through multiple times, and I have to say, this is not worth it. Sure, all of the DLC is there, and the textures are updated, but there are just not enough improvements to justify it. When I first heard of the remaster, I hoped it would mean porting SE2's klutzy controls into 3 & 4's vastly improved engine. The cover system is still incredibly clumsy, enemies have bizzare detection range, and the controls still feel stiff. Save your 10 (or 35) bucks and get one of the newer games - or even just the original SE2 for cheaper.
