  On the positives. I love the art style, the artistic direction, the sound the environment and everything this game has to offer vibe wise. I'd love to recommend the game but it has a couple major problems. -The ai does not recognize some mates for example the king rook vs king mate and scholar's mate. I don't know if it's random, a bug or anything else but it's vital for a chess game to have the rules implemented properly and end the game when it's over. -Secondly the ai is very weak. I am a 1100 national rated player and I almost consistently beat the experienced ai. It has no opening book so it starts the game the same way, it doesn't take into account king safety at all and it implodes its own position if you just sit around and wait. -Last and least I would like a crisper job with the pieces outlines. There are some other issues but they are way too minor. Honestly the only big problems are the first for sure and to some degree the second one. Otherwise I'd love to recommend this game. It's nice and relaxing and enjoyable.

  The AI difficulty level seems broken. Even on Novice, the AI is extremely aggressive and can easily take me out within 5 turns. I didn't notice any difference between the 3 difficulty levels at all. Note: I'm not good at chess, and bought this hoping to practice up, but it's just too difficult. I got it for a few bucks, so I won't be too critical - maybe decent chess players would have a better go at it. Maybe someday I'll get better and have a chance at beating the computer. Visuals Visuals are mostly nice, though I find that the stages other than Queen's Lake and Training Temple have some lighting that makes it hard to see the board and pieces. Audio The music and sound effects are great, really high quality and pleasant to listen to.   1. Standard chess game/rules. 2. The graphics are low-poly, but still nice to look at. 3. Soft background music is relaxing. 4. Plenty of options for time, difficulty, piece appearance, board location, and style of play. 5. The more you play (and the more you win), the more goodies you unlock (such as piece appearances and board locations).

  great concept on a timeless tabletop game. i only wish that you could modify the camera angles a little more but other than that I have no qualms about this game at all.
