This is an excellent resource, containing many useful scripts. Customization is fairly easy and straightforward. If you want to design your own battle hud and menu system, Luna Engine is a great way to achieve your goals quickly.

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! if you are already a pro in RPG Maker, you better of getting codes under Support section of http://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/ and all of these are for FREE. As a newbie to RPG Maker VX Ace, I thought it would be much easier if buy this product so that I can build from it. Wrong! Manual is in hieroglyphics. No walkthrough. No quickstart up guide. I went to forum but it was a pain getting a startup guide even pinned short tutorial can not get you started. There are alot of FREE youtube tutorial available for RPG Maker VX Ace both Advance and Basic, make sure to use that and not to buy this product.

Documentation on this isn't the best. It would be nice to have a script next to some screenshots or bullet-point list to show/say what the script does! Got it on sale but seems like it would be a pain to figure out exactly what each script does and if i can use it. I'll need to set aside some time for this.

Alright so first of, let me make one thing clear: You can do amazing things with this collection of scripts. HOWEVER! And that's a big HOWEVER: You need SERIOUS scripting knowledge to make your dream UI happen. "Little to no programming knowledge" -> NOPE! More accurate: "A ****-load of programming knowledge" I know what you're thinking: AW THIS GUY IS SOO STUPID IM SURE ITS EASY Trust me, it's really not. The fact is, you're gonna have to spend a LOT of time and effort after putting these scripts into your game to make it look the way you want. And they aren't compatiable with a lot of things, and the things they are compatiable with can still have errors. Chances are it's going to be chaos and break everything. If you know what you're doing, you can fix most of these problems and once everything is back to normal, you can then customize to your hearts content and make magic happen. I did. But damn I was pulling my hair out for a while. I have a TON of other scripts and when I loaded it up everything was a complete disaster. If you do not have serious scripting knowledge, you will not be able to correct this, nor edit it the way you want to. The description is a quite a bit of a stretch, no-one said its plug and play, but it certainly isn't just changing a few x and y values either. If you have the abilities and time to put the necessary effort into this, it's worth it, at most any price point. You can make amazing things with it like I did. If not, DO NOT BUY. Do I recommend? It really depends on who's buying: their scripting abilities, time avaliable, and patience. Gotta say, despite all the pain it's caused, I like it. EDIT: There's been some updates, and they've fixed a few things. However, there is something I want to make clear: The example projects included in the engine ARE NOT what you see in the screenshots, unfortunatley. In addition, some of the examples don't work properly, right out of the box. So if you want it to be exactly as you see in the pictures, you have to do it manually!

Just wanna congratulate the team for making this. I'm not really gonna use it as I prefer writing my own scripts, but I really want to commend the people behind this. As a scripter, I know how hard it is to make this collection of scripts. For those people saying that you need to know how to use the scripting system, maybe to some extent (you should at least know how to write down values). It is a hardwork to use this, that is a given with the amount of things that you can modify thru the settings of this script collection. But if you persevere, you could really achieve awesome results. Yes, there might be free scripts out there that does something similar (I have one), but none of them compares to what you can achieve with using this. Anyway, it's not a requirement to have this. But if you want it and have the money for it, I do suggest you get it.

Do not buy this. This "engine" is terrible, to say the least. It consists mostly of scripts found via searching the RPG Maker forums, and they are free. To add insult to injury, this "engine" requires you to give credit to the original script owners that are used in the engine. This is not an engine, but a messy collection of scripts from other users lazily placed into one. It is a copyright nightmare, and it is very far from being easy to use. If you would like to have custom interfaces and combat systems, I would recommend you learn RGSS3 and do it yourself. You will have more control and you will be able to do much more.

First and foremost, Thank you to all who worked on this engine. You did a fantastic job. I'm a pretty bad scripter. I'm not going to lie. Ruby is something that escapes me for some reason (but I can code in VB and C++ to a lesser extent. go figure), so modifying the menu was something that I had to leave to other scripts. My problem was I wanted a unique menu, something I created. This product helped me achieve that. It wasn't all that hard either. Everything is well labled and documented. In just one night I was able to create the main menu section, and right now I'm working on Items. The manual was helpful, and I figured out most everything through trial and effor (like any good programmer right?) Would I recommend this? Yes and no. I gave it a glowing review because my experience with it was extremely positive....while editing menus. Thing is, I haven't gone beyond that yet. Could problems arise with scripts later on? Yes they can. In fact, I'm pretty much expecting it. I'll deal with those problems when I get there, but it could be an issue for some. In addition, this pretty much requires you to start your project over with using Luna Engine as a base, so if you are pretty far along in your game, this might be a massive development hit for you. You can always drag over your databases to the new file, but if scripts were involved in your creation process, things will most likely break. I'm going to give this product a recommendation, but I'll temper that recommendation with this. If you are new to RPG maker and you don't know a single solitary thing about Ruby or how RGSS3 works, I wouldn't recommend this for you. It'd honestly be a waste of your money. However, if you are serious about creating a game, and want it to have a unique look, then this is for you. Just make sure you know a little bit about scripting, to save the devs from headaches. Good job Dev team! Good job!

I got this on offer but if I had paid full price I'd want my money back. A lot of the Demos don't display properly and worse still running them throws errors. If they can't ship it with out major bugs what chance do I have? It states: "Luna Engine is a series of scripts created with people with little to no programming knowledge in mind." This appears to be a seriously misleading ad campaign. I checked to see if it was actually designed for VX, but no, it's for VX ACE and the demos should work, after all I have the RTP installed to use RPG maker in the first place. If I wanted to learn scripting then I wouldn't have bought something that says no programming skills needed. It is true that people dipping their toes into ruby may benefit from this but even the help files are poor to say the least. The manual is a HUGE 8 pages of A4 (but comes in 3 different languages) and the how to use file is 5 pages but available in 4 different formats (PDF, Word, notepad and html). I have no other scripts installed to cause conflicts. One of the errors is a missing window graphic resource! The fact is if I wanted to get in to scripting then I could download for free something like Yanflys scripts, or Victor's scripts, or use some of the free community DLC, and the RPG maker website has lots to offer. It may turn out to be my best friend if and when I get used to it but I will not retract my initial assessment. This does not do what it's supposed to and is blatantly NOT for people with no programming skills. Also should I ever manage to use this engine then I hope they don't expect credit. I bought it fair and square and will not credit it as it was not what it claimed to be. A lot of the scripts out there are free, if I use those I will give full credit, but not for this. Luna Engine? Lunatic!

A brand new review: It is as easy as a script can become. It is separated in two parts: Congif scripts (where you will do stuff) Core scripts (you do nothing there) Config scripts are well documented and easy to config. How you config a script: Setting a value let's say from 100 to 110, setting a true to false, stuff like that. Setting a file name like picture1.png Even a little kid can configure it, by trial and error. Some scripts are ready to be used. This set of scripts gives you mouse interface, custom menu customization capabilities. Menus means menus on field AND during battle! This is script does complex stuff. Is this easy to do without knowing scripting? It is as easy as it cam possibly be. If you First off, even if you KNOW scripting and don't own these scripts, if you got to do this alone, it is a hell of a work and hardship. People who actually know scripting appreciate the ease of this and acknowledge that it is a fantastic set of scripts. No major bugs, if any bugs are found, will hopefully be fixed. The script NEEDS one thing from you though. It needs you to study the config files. If you don't intend to study them to be able to do super complex stuff by just tweaking a bunch of parameters, then don't buy it, you probably don't deserve it anyway in my opinion. Some demos help you see what is going on. And if you like any of them you can build a game upon them, whithout even studying the scripts. Just saying...
