Raji: An Ancient Epic Features

A thousand years have passed since the last great war between the demons and the gods. Lulled into a false sense of security and having forgotten the ways of alchemy, humans find themselves at the mercy of the invading demons, who wage a new war to repay their past humiliation.

Cities fall, fortresses are in ruins and young children are abducted from their homes. In this chaos, a young girl named Raji is chosen by the gods to be the sole defender of the human race.

A Story of Siblings

Raji and her younger brother Golu are separated as the demonic hordes attack. It is now up to Raji to save him and put an end to this reckless war. On her quest she will have to overcome the full might and cunning of the great lord of demons, Mahabalasura.

Stunning Artwork

Drawing inspiration from legendary tales of Hindu folklore and the medieval architecture of Rajasthan, Raji: An Ancient Epic brings a visually stunning and unique style to the action-adventure genre! Enter an immersive environment drawn in the Pahari art style and brought to life with hand-painted textures rendered in 3D.

Tactical Combat

Diverse weapons and powers, gifted to Raji by the gods are at your disposal. Mastering them all will be vital to your success as the demonic hordes will skillfully adapt to each and every situation; while the Trishul may be perfect for one battle, the mighty Sharanga bow may be needed for the next.

raji architecture 10/10 story 08/10 combat 05/10 no replay value but has a very nice indian mythology backstory to it. I recommend for a sales price and one time play only.

Isometric action platformer about the gods and demons of Hindu mythology. + Beautiful visuals + Great art style + Interesting theme/context + Intriguing narration style - Flawed platforming - Boring combat Recommending only because it's short and to show support for these independent devs who have created a game centred around a theme you don't see every day.

The story is not up to the expectation but the concept and the execution is. This game deserves support and love from especially the Indian community because of the initiative of creating and developing games based on India. Hats off to the developers for the courage and willingness.

Short game with a simple story, no complex level design and basic combat. Graphics quality is good, except for some models which have pixelated textures even at the max graphical settings. Overall a good game with easy achievements, worth buying it on sale without any expectations for replayability.

The game is truly amazing. Its the indian developers who made this game wonderfull, although its like a prince o persia early access. but developers have added lots of mythological stuffs. and the terrain and graphics are truly amazing. hats of to developers, finally completed the game without any skips. I wish indian developers make huge differnce in indian gaming sector.

A great action/platform/adventure game like Prince of Persia. A lot of nice details and stories all throughout the levels. Visually stunning. Great action scenes with nice combo's and multiple weapons. A lot of love and thought went into this game and it shows. Absolutely gorgeous and a Must Have if you love the genre.

Raji is an absolutely gorgeous game set in a wonderful mythology not often told. It has so much lovely narration, great voice acting and mind-blowing drawings in a game. The intricate detail in some of the artwork is simply gorgeous. The game has a nice progression as you work your way through it. The difficulty ramps up as you'd expect, and it's up to you to allocate your "favour orb" points to create effective weapons. It's worth looking up what the various buffs mean and how to allocate them because they have random effect, so if you don't know what to expect it can get a bit confusing. The fights are largely just brawls. The various monsters have different ways to best fight them: stand-off range attacks, or get in and stun-lock them. The four main weapons are granted gradually through the game, but none of them (except the very last) seems to be decisively more powerful. They just all support different play styles. Saying that, there are some enemies that you simply can't defeat with one or other weapon as they rush you, so you have to be a little choosy. But the game doesn't penalise you for dying, so you get lots of chances to try out different tactics. I'd say that the 'easy' difficulty is WAY too hard. I'd class it more like a 'normal'. For Easy, I'd make some of the enemies a lot less powerful, like the rushing samurai guys, and maybe spawn one or two fewer enemies in the really big brawls later on. A lovely game, that only takes 6 or 7 hours to play through. Absolutely beautiful.

I definitely don't recommend this game. Its only redeeming qualities are the somewhat breathtaking scenery and the good animations, plus the whole hindu mythology theme, which are what drew me to this game in the first place. But the negatives most certainly out-weight the positives. First of all, the combat is terribly balanced. You have so little combos to choose from, which is something that really restricts you (up to 3 chain light or heavy attacks, or some combination of light and heavy, which is not much). And you only have to 3 weapons available to use, the third of which works in a similar fashion with the first one you. On the other hand, enemies are way to aggressive and can chain attacks at the same time (which staggers you), while you can not stagger them. This forces you to either spam dodge and hit once you find an opening, which is often after 3-7 dodges just to get a hit or two in, or abuse the terrain whenever possible, spamming on repeat the climb-on-the-pole/wall attack. Otherwise, you are gonna spend a crap-tone of time in each encounter. The game also has poor level design, not indicating in the slightest which is the main path and which is the dead-end with the upgrade on the end, making it possible to reach the ending without fully upgrading a single weapon element (electricity, fire or ice). Speaking of upgrades, the game kind of forces you to fully upgrade an element, as this is significantly more powerful, that spreading your upgrade orbs towards all the elements, and thus having each weapon equipped with a different element for each situation. As for the story, it's just there, with the ending being an even bigger disappointment than I expected. And finally, the game is full of awful design choices that does not make any sense and could be avoided with a 3 hour search on YouTube about basic game design. For example, there is this classic scene where you have to move from pillar to pillar and hide behind them, because if the enemy sees you it's game over. Well in this game this fucking scene took over 10-15 to do (not counting the restarts), either because the animations of the enemy were too long and he wouldn't move to search elsewhere, or its A.I. was bugging or resetting on the spot. It took around 1.30 minutes of waiting behind each pillar before I could move to the next one, and there were about 10 of them. Also the final boss really sucks. To do any proper damage to its gigantic health pool, you had to use the final and fourth weapon of the game. Problem is that this weapon only uses light attack mechanics and nothing else, effectively reducing your options to just dodge and attack, and disabling the other combat mechanics, which is exactly the opposite of what a final boss should be. You should start off with little to do and acquire more ways to engage in as you progress, with the final boss requiring all of your skills and weapons you have gained during your playthrough. And speaking of dodging and attacking, you will have to do a fuck-ton of that during the final battle (my thumb hurt from my first attempt at this). This boss is insanely hard and unbalanced, even in the lowest difficulty, as I have read online (I made the mistake of playing on hard). The boss can down you with 5 hits and after some point he starts teleporting while having his attack animations ready to go (as soon as he tps you might take dmg). I only beat this 5 minutes tops boss fight after 2 hours, and that's because I abused the game's mechanics, as I was forced to do with every single fight after some point ( for this one I used animation cancel on my attacks while nearly hugging the boss, which took care of a huge chunk of his hp pool at a time, while partially stun-locking him). All in all, this had the potential to be a great game, but the developers didn't seem to know what they were doing, which ended making this game extremely frustrating.

It has beautiful architecture and offers an interesting view into Indian mythology, but the combat isn't all that great, and when I tried to resume my game it refused to let me control Raji again, instead leaving me stuck in a single spot. This was at the start of the final level, and I didn't feel like replaying from scratch. Watching the ending on youtube is always a downer...
