  The new mechanics (especially the swing) feel very random. The music is not quite as good as in the main game. If you're just playing through the levels it takes about 20 minutes to finish all 4 levels but going for all of the achievements feels like a chore.

  The new levels are still great and creative. However, I can't recommend it due to the last level. It feels like I have to remember the whole map to beat it rather than follow the beats to predict the following operations. I am far from a gamer but a casual player, while I don't mind trial and error at all. Just the last level really made me wonder is it the Neon Beats I like? I don't regret buying this DLC, to play 8 well-designed levels with such price, I have nothing to complain about.

  This DLC adds new gameplay elements and cool levels. I really liked it. Especially level 6 and level 8. These levels are just cool as game itselfs. Also new mechanics really make the game more enjoyable. There is only few bugs. Recommended to buy. My score: 8.1/10

  I'm a huge fan of this game and I was really hyped for the announced new content. And I have to say it is not a bad expansion but I'm just a bit disapointed and I cannot give a neutral rating on a steam review so I'm going with a negativ review although as I mentioned I don't think it's a bad DLC. "A beat further" comes with 4 new levels which is really nice because it basically doubles the content of Neon Beats. The new levels also introduce new mechanics, a couple of hidden achievements and of course new music. Honestly I did enjoy the secret achievements because they are well hidden in the levels but not frustratingly hard to figure out and add a nice exploration feeling to the game. The new mechanics are ok, nothing you haven't seen in other games but they make all the levels individual and add to the game. I don't think the music is as enjoyable or fitting as in the original levels. It just never seemed to pump me up and just kinda plays in the background. This is of course highly subjective and not the main reason to why I gave the expansion a negative review. What really caused my decision are the levels themselves. There were just way too many parts in pretty much all of the 4 new levels which were frustrating to play, especially when you try to get the level done quickly without dying. First of all there are often parts in pretty much all of these levels which are just way too boring because you just hold right while being boosted, stuff is moving around you but with no impact to your gameplay and you have to jump maybe once or twice in 5 to 10 seconds. It just seems like a filler to make the levels longer for no particular reason. And another problem I had with some parts were inconsistencies I never encountered in the base game. For example some of the swings can make you overshoot your jump which in these cases doesn't seem to be intentional or even thought possible. Similar things can happen with some of the direction switches and some parts where multiple swing jumps are chained where you get different outcomes from identical gameplay and inputs because of what seems to be a slight missdesign in those parts. These problems combined with the lackluster parts of some levels (and the fact that I couldn't really enjoy the music) just made me often not enjoy my time playing the DLC. I don't know, maybe I'm too nitpicky or sound too whiny about the expansion and maybe I am but as much as I tried I just could not get myself to like it. That's why I cannot justify giving this DLC a positive review but I'm not here to tell you not to buy the DLC and try it out, you'll probably have a different experience than I had. (The price is extremely fair btw.)
