Was honestly way better than I expected. I expected it to be boring and i wasn't even going to get halfway through. But I actually finished it in one straight playthrough because I was genuinely glued to the story. It has beautiful art, interested diverse characters, and a thrilling story. It does have a slow start but it ramps up real fast. I would give it a try if you don't mind these type of reading games. Can't wait for Chapter 2.

This was a surprise of a game. The art work was a different taste than what I am used to and that is a huge plus. Events in the story (so far as of chapter 1) actually surprised me. I can't wait for Chapter 2 to be released.

I played this game in one sitting (only chapter one is available right now). I ain't into RPG maker games but this one is the right mix of good story, simple RPG and beautiful images. There is not much choices to make in the chapter out right now but the characters and the story are quite compelling. The music is quite pleasant too most of the time. All in all it was a good surprise and definitively a "recommend" from me. I will be waiting for the following chapters :D

Most of the time I would not touch a visual novel with a 10-meter stick, the genre is just full of shovelware and generic stories, but to my surprise, 'MAGICAL DEATHPAIR' has a solid cast of characters with a very distinctive art style, and below the superficial glamour, I think there is a very intriguing narrative, even though I suspect some of the sharp dialogue was lost in translation. Now the game is made in RPG-Maker so it also has some exploration, including some nicely animated fights and death scenes, but for the most part, the overworld is used to travel between the characters. I have to give a small warning because it's unclear how long the game is, there is a point where I thought the game ended, but it keeps going, so I would advise using the gallery because most of it should be unlocked just playing the game. Essentially the story reminds me of the traditional murder mystery where you have several characters and someone is killing them one at a time, granted, with a unique take on it, using some strange witch lore that is unlike anything else. The thing about the writing in this game, it's not that I don't like it, the relationships between the characters are very enjoyable and you never truly know who to trust, it's just that some of the dialogue was not organic, not sure if it's a translation or maybe just a cultural thing, for the most part, I think it was done very well. The game also has a bit of cycling effect which should not be confused with a full 'reset' of the game, it ties into the characters and their powers, but I won't say much more than that, I thought it was used in a creative way. Even though I am not a huge fan of anime visuals, I like when the artist puts on a unique take on the style, and I think this game does enough to make the characters look and feel unique. I must admit the design overall is way over the top, but in a weird way, I think it made it more enjoyable for me, pretty much every character in this game is overdesigned in a good way. The only nitpick I have is the choice of tiles for the exploration in the subway, they kinda look dull and there is not much to look at - understandably it's not really the meat of the game, but I can't help thinking that game would be even better if the locations were more enjoyable to look at.

    Pros:

(+) Aside from some occasionally weird dialogue, I very much like the story and the chemistry between the characters, granted I think the second half of the game is where it really starts to take effect. The narrative plays with the concept of trust and that not everything is black & white. It has some nice twists when it comes to the character arcs, I think you will find that not everyone is what you think they are. (+) Even as someone that hates most of the visual novels just based on their generic look, I really like what the artist did with the art style here, specifically the design of the characters, it's pretty different when compared to similar games. Huge props on visuals in general, the little sprite fights and deaths are a nice touch as well.

    Feedback:

Nitpicks - I don't have too much of a problem with the game overall, the only thing I wish was different was the environment, I wish you would put more unique assets and detail so it's actually fun to explore. Again, I do find some of the dialogue kinda strange, not necessarily in a bad way, maybe the game just does not translate perfectly. When the story "cycles" I wish you would put a little more to show that it's still going, I almost quit the game because I thought it got reset. But anyway, small things. Overall Thoughts: For what we have so far. Mmm... I am between seven and eight, but if I am being fair I think the game has many nuances in the narrative, **** it, 8/10. Fight me I liked the characters almost instantly, and I think the story only got better and better as it went on. I am sure it won't be for everyone like with any flashy anime game, but I thought the over-the-top art style was great, and I think if you look at the narrative objectively, even with some issues, I think it's pretty engaging the entire way. Pretty happy I gave it a try, sure, make more. For more Hidden-Gems: http://store.steampowered.com/curator/31294838-Hidden-Gem-Discovery/

Thank you very much for translating this game! The artwork is amazing, the characters are interesting and the developments exciting! I really loved the protagonist. She made me laugh a lot! I'm looking forward to chapter 2! Very interesting game I think more people should know about. The plot is intriguing and the cast is full of colorful and diverse characters with strong personality. If I were to describe the plot it'd be sort of like If Madoka Magica and Danganronpa or Your Turn to Die had a baby. Main character is someone I could see as an actual person. She's neither bad nor good. She's really mostly the type that cares only about her own self preservation and doesn't much care what happens to other people. With the events of the game though, she has to kinda tackle that problem with her and try to help people out. It has a few nice twists and I'm excited to see chapter 2 whenever that gets translated to english. If you're uncomfortable with implied sexual assault though, that's my biggest problem with the game. There's a lot of moments where the male characters will do things to the girls without consent and it's really awkward to watch. It didn't ruin the game for me but the fact that at least 3 different scenes with different characters each time had some sort of scene that involved something akin to sexual harassment is... something. All in all I think it's a good game worth your time, especially if you like thrillers and killing/werewolf game plots. It's an interesting one with a nice setup and detailed rules for the killing game. If you don't like seeing sexual harassment though, you might want to be cautious about purchasing it. It's also episodic so just keep that in mind since at the time of writing this, only episode 1 is out in english.

Do you like murder mysteries with anime fight scenes? Get this game. Chapter 2 when?

THE GAME IS ONLY CHAPTER ONE - IT WILL BLUE BALL YOU AND ONCE THE CHAPTER 2 COMES OUT, YOU WILL LIKELY HAVE TO REPLAY THIS TO REMEMBER THE EVENTS. Okay, other bad things: your choices don't matter and there are no traps despite the game constantly warning you not to wander and such. But if you treat it as a kinetic novel... then it's okay.
