Dark Fall: Ghost Vigil Features

Join the all-night ghost vigil at Harwood House. As part of the 'OPG' paranormal investigation team, explore the haunted buildings and investigate sightings of ghosts, long reported around the area of Wolfenden. Grab the ghost hunting gadgets and solve the mystery surrounding this abandoned building.

Welcome to Ghost Vigil

The aim is to prove the existence of 'ghosts' through paranormal experiments. The venue is Harwood House, boasting a disturbing history, waiting to be experienced, by you. We, The Oxford Paranormal Group, believe the building is haunted, not by a single unknown entity, but several. The O.P.G have placed several remote live cameras and experiments throughout the building.

Harwood House is now empty as it has been for 4 decades, but you can be the eyes in the dark... watching... waiting. Discover what happened.

The house was built in 1747, as a country home for Lord Harwood, his wife and young son, Edgar. The Harwood estate was modest, stretching to a few dark wooded hills, deep in the Oxfordshire countryside. A tragedy occurred, in 1749, when Lord Harwood lost his son to scarlet fever.

A mixed history then befell Harwood House; it was passed from one owner to another in quick succession. It would appear no-one wanted to stay, for long. In later years the house became a hotel, a maternity hospital and eventually, in 1968, a children's home known as Shangri La.

Your Role:

You are new to the OPG, the Oxford Paranormal Group, but have to face your first 'all night vigil' at Harwood House. Your investigation will begin in the Attic, as your designated 'closed door experiment', before exploring the remains of the abandoned Harwood House and the Shangri La children's home.

In addition to exploring your designated investigation area, there are also ghost cams available to see other parts of the venue, as well as interactions with your fellow OPG members via messages and walkie talkie.

Your mission is to monitor the equipment and paranormal experiments. Things start off okay, with potential activity; orbs, flashes, temperature drops... until midnight, when things become deeply ‘unexplainable’. Who haunts Harwood House?

Key Features

  • Explore the old abandoned Harwood House after dark.

  • Use Ghost Hunting gadgets to discover supernatural activity, ‘see’ into the past, and hear the dead.

I hate how the walkie talkie takes precedence over everything: I can't move around, I can't interact with items, I can't interact with the world, I can't skip to the next line when I've read the current one, and there's so much talking in the beginning. I also can't seem replay previous messages spoken over the walkie-talkie and I missed some important dialogue.

Man what a game! Darkling Room have always had a knack for creating a gripping, eerie atmosphere and they absolutely nailed it once again. Jumpscare-less supernatural point n' click games are hard to come by these days and Ghost Vigil is a true shining gem. Esthetically pleasing visuals, easy intuitive controls, nerve-racking story, puzzles of varying difficulty - what else could a fella want? Ghost Vigil is a very smooth ride which I recommend to all point n' click fans!

Despite the subpar VO, it was quite enjoyable. There was surprising depth to this game with some intricate puzzles. It was also a lot longer than I had anticipated! If you like puzzles, ghost hunting & a decent point and click adventure that looks pretty good for the time, I recommend this. Just remember to tell Steve to bugger off ;)

A good point-n-click horror game. Enjoyed the ghost hunting portions and voice acting.

Some of the puzzles were just so obtuse that we had to resort to a walkthrough to be able to complete the game. Graphics are nice, but navigation/transitions are quite old school and pretty confusing at times. Would give this game 7/10

Really loved this game! Played the full game from ShadowTors store and bought a Steam copy as well and am replaying. You don't need to have played the other Dark Fall games to enjoy this one. Playing DF Ghost Vigil may inspire you to play the others. The story was very well done. Dark and spooky but not a blood splatter fest or full of jump scares. The house you are investigating has a long history so there are layers upon layers of inhabitants, ghosts and evil deeds to learn about which all tie together as you explore. This is an easy to maneuver point and click system The game world is pretty large. It is organized very well and so not easy to get lost. You even get maps - just in case. The graphics were crisp and clear with a great attention to detail. There are a ton of "little things" to notice and appreciate. The voiceovers were also very well done. The puzzles ranged from simple to very complex. Time to bring out a notepad or take lots and lots of screenshots. The clues found might not be used until later in the game so keeping track as you find them helps from having to backtrack later. Bottom line: It took me about 17 hours to do my first playthrough, The story got me completely hooked and I was excited to move forward. The puzzles were creative and fun. I wanted to take the time to figure out the complex puzzles since they were so linked to the unfolding of the story even if some of them to me a while to figure out. I enjoyed myself from start to finish. I do recommend this game very much and feel it is well worth the price for a great haunting story, game quality, puzzle challenge and game length!

I haven't finished the game yet, but I am loving it! I love gadjets and this game plays out like a "real" ghost hunt. I'll return to this review when I've finished, but so far the game has been worth every penny! If you've played the Lost Crown and enjoyed it, you'll like this one. I highly recommend it.

I've only gotten about one third of the way through but heartily recommend this artistically amazing, many layered and engrossing game. If you love good adventure games that have a great story, environment and voice acting you'll love this. For those familiar with the Darkfall series, no doubt you already have this wonderful addition . Others have written excellent reviews, just wanted to add my enthusiastic two cents. Get it! Edited..... Finished, it, loved it..... Got the ending that I wanted too. Such a fun game. So good for the little brain cells..... I will definitely be playing it again and before that, think I must roll out Lost Crown to play again too....

For fans of Dark Fall and the Crown games, this is pretty much a must. I guess this a sort of crossover episode. You completely forget that it's "just" a point-and-click game, navigation is usually pretty smooth. The user interface can be a little quirky at times, but thats about the only negative I can come up with. Loads of stuff to explore and look at. The voice acting is top notch, some of the banter really is hilarious.
