When this game released, i was eight. I never got to play it. Always wanted to. so i bought it. It's a great game if you can acknowledge it's age and appreciate the art it is.

Here you will see why I love Crime Cities, but in my review you will read about why I gave it a negative review due to some problems. I love Crime Cities I love the story behind being a supposed crime boss or mafia and reminds me of the classic old video game Bounty Hunter, which also takes place in the future with flying cars, but you are a bounty hunter hunting criminals. I get a OpenGL crash sometimes. Here is a screenshot of one of the few OpenGL errors I experience here and there. Followed by freezing of the video games that use OpenGL, before crashing. https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/887417416764768257/926930307003850792/OpenGL_errors_on_video_games_that_use_OpenGL_on_Windows.png Please Techland add DirectX 8 support or at least a more up to date version of DirectX 9 support which supports 64-bit, which is DirectX 9.0C I believe? Otherwise I cannot give Crime Cities a positive review due to these technical issues, which I cannot seem to fix even if I reinstall Windows or Crime Cities. Also Techland please add Dedicated Servers and A Server Browser List to Crime Cities so that I can search for other servers to play on through the Server Browser List. I cannot really play on Local Area Network (LAN), so I cannot really find players that way.

A solid blend of Quarantine (the game) and Bladerunner. Very fun and ambitious for the time, with great atmosphere and some solid music. But it's main problem is in its resolution. You can't make it too high, or else it crops out the hud in gameplay. The highest you can play it at is 1280 x 1024, but it's still fun. The game throws a lot at you, but you get the hang of it.

One of the forgotten 'hidden gems' from the 2000s. It's a fun, atmospheric, dystopian cyberpunk game of very high quality. I'd say open-world. Somehow reminds me of GTA2 with 3 large maps with missions and some freedom for exploring. But the action itself is something like Descent or Forsaken, with the auto-leveling feature if you not the biggest fan of orienting in all the axis of 3D space. I recommend checking it out if you like classic games. It also works out-of-the-box on modern systems, and it's OpenGL :)

I love the Blade Runner like world design and the flying cars, the gameplay is pretty hard to enjoy. The controls aren't intuitive at all, the missions are frustrating because the radar is set too low and you have to look down yourself or look at the map all the time. This would be way better if it was a fast paced spaceship shooter like Forsaken.

Another piece of childhood secured on steam. Eventually my whole life will be ported to steam... One can hope... Crime Cities is a very old game, and somewhat of a hidden gem. Now, its not mind-blowing or amasing or anything, but i do remember having an awful lot of fun with it. Then again, children have a lot of fun with many things... But i did replay this game like 10 times throughout my life, so... The game's premise is relatively simple, and also very old-school type of badass. There's a solar system that was turned into a series of prison-planets, each containing its very own set of convicts. Something suspicious is happening in this shithole, and a covert operative (you) gets sent here to figure out what's going on before its too late. Your only way of interacting with the world is driving a flying car, which also happens to be armed to the teeth. The game is open-world so you can go and have yourself some carnage fun (remember getting 5 stars at GTA? You kinda can do this here. Kinda...) Other than that you're meant to go to one of the garage-ish spots where you interact with a wonky menu with VERY weird choices for controls. INS and DEL buttons, i think? I honestly forgot. But its in there, somewhere. You get to pick yourself a contract (mission / quest) and do it. The main story ones advance the story, the secondary missions provide you with money to upgrade your car: get better guns, shields, etc. But other than that: many missions are amazing sources of world-building. Contracts for radical zealot groups of all kinds, criminals, just weirdos doing weird shit... All kinds of people live on a prison-world, and you get to work for them for cold-heart cash. I'm pretty certain some missions are even LITERALLY and INTENTIONALLY unwinnable, as your contractor gets lost or dissapears or maybe something worse - never to be seen again, and the player have no choice but to go back to the garage, scared and kinda ashamed for his inability to finish this mission, actually CANCEL the contract yourself and never speak of it again. No, i don't know any weird alien conspiracy enthusiasts, why are you asking me this? The only piece of criticism i have is the before mentioned questionable choice for controls, so some getting used-to-it might be required to genuinely enjoy the game. There's also a weird, uh... "ADVERTISIMENT" system where you get spamed with in-game world advertisiments like, uh... Painting your car? I had NEVER in my life figured out if you can actually interact with those and do something, or if they are actually just literal spam in your in-game inbox. Very immersive, i tell ya. It's just like having an actual e-mail! I wish this game got some kind of a remaster or a spiritual successor. There's some nice potential here. Especially seeing how retro sci-fi theme are ressurging back into the mainstream.
