If the dev can keep adding polish and content to the game, it'll be a classic zombie game right up there with Project Zombiod. Having a blast with it so far. If you want a full break down of the game, I recommend Splattercatgaming on youtube as he gives an in depth first look at the game. In the meantime I'll update this first impressions review when I've more time under my belt with it.

PZ + Cdda + Stalker more or less. So far I'm really enjoying it and surprised it hasn't been done before. Don't let the graphics style put you off if you like zombie survival games, my initial feeling is this is going to be one of the good ones.

Man I dunno... Its got all the makings of a great zombie survival game, but its so... simply unpleasant to play I cant recommend it in its state. The single most aggrovating thing while playing this game that really prevented me from trying to push it more is the absolutely awful inventory management. You can wear multiple pieces of clothing, but if you want to look inside any of them to put things inside, you have to open it in a new window. THIS INCLUDES WHEN YOURE LOOTING SOMETHING. So if you want something in your pant pockets you gotta either drop it on the floor first or into your backpack before transferring it so GOD FORBID you need something urgently a piece of clothing at some stage. Its awful in general, the items give you too much description and too little at the same time. Trying to figure out a glance whether your flashlights needs batteries or not is a difficult task and all of this is further worse by the often terrible sprites (mainly of the small items) that when you collect numerous 1x1 items its extremely hard to identify which item is what, let alone differentiate them from eachother. I like simple art styles such as here, but its so incredibly hard to read whats what with the perspective of the game. Its trying to be isometric and 2d sprite at the same time and imo its really not working. Buildings are hard to figure out. Furniture is odd. When behind a fence, you AND enemies are simply outlined instead of making the fence invisible or transparent since youre behind it. Oh, and youll be shooting at furniture instead of zeds inside buildings all the time, whether or not the laser sight from your gun is aiming at the zed. Similarly if youre melee fighting zombies near anything prepare to hit both the zed and destroying anything around you which also degrades your melee weapon. The "shops" appear as just actual super markets, full of items on shelves. I thought, wow look at all this loot but then you read the fine print that picking things up from shelves in the "shop" buys them directly. Its so unclear and makes no sense. The store is full of zeds itself and it all looks like just free floating loot. Its a terrible implementation of a shop. There are fun bits here, the general exploring and looting (not its management) is okay, the gun customization is nice. The guns feel fun to shoot. The zed variety is nice and the way they die through cinematic slowmo headshots and dismemberment is nice but its definately not enough to keep, at least me, playing. Oh and an absolute criminal offence. The 1911 is chambered in 9mm. Realising that is actually the point I left the game.

This game is fun as it is right now but it has also ton of potential. 2 things will make this game take over the market: co-op and workshop/modding

I'm not going to lie, I originally... played this game through less proper means. After it peaking my interest when I got used to the controls and UI, I decided to pick it up for real for only 10 USD. Before I continue, I admit that I have a soft spot for flash-like games, and hardcore survival games. There is something so charming, yet so capable of having depth in simple games like this. NEO-SCAVENGER and CDDA are quick to jump into my mind when I mention this. That being said, I felt that this game was right up my alley when I first booted it. After installing it, and starting a new game with the same world and character build. I looted the nearby bodies next to a crashed chopper and found the performance to be far better than the week-old build I played first, and the graphics (UI and game itself) to be more smooth and easy on the eyes. I'm the kind of guy to scale a paradox game's UI up to better read text, so you know I'm blind as a bat. The menus are surprisingly easy to read for a pixel-game this early into development. I get maybe 50 frames constantly, which is good for a game that procedure generates the world around you while you play at the highest settings. A few bumps in frames when I enter combat (I'll talk about that soon), or then a large amount of particle effects are suddenly spawned in from what have you, but it's playable (at least to me) for a game that hasn't been out for a week since I'm reviewing my current experience (4/4/2023). The graphics have a real deadwood-deathtrash vibe to them, with more color and use of shading in the artstyle. This is a nice choice, as it both looks good and still conveys an apocalyptic atmosphere to immerse yourself in. Speaking of deadwood, you also have a cone of view similar to that game, but it's not as obvious, since it doesn't put a filter over what you can't see to separate it (CDDA does this as well, as of the newest build). This can trip you up, if you've played that game, or haven't played a game with it at all. Now, for the combat. If you played project zomboid, you've got a vanilla version of that, with some features missing here and there. For melee weapons, you hold down the LMB and let go when you wanna swing. Standard, and effective. Prudish to complain about. Ranged weapons are point and click, but you need to manually load magazines for weapons that use them (if it has a box you need to stick the bullets in, you better make sure you unload the gun and fill it up with bullets. If you don't do this, you're doing the equivalent of sliding a bullet into the doo-hickey and firing, and then repeating). weapons like double-barrel shotguns, revolvers, and bows don't have this issue. Blasting a zombie from maybe a few feet away with a shotgun, and having their pixel blood splatter and their body go limp is actually satisfying, and you can even get a kill-cam like for kills (including your own) that'll likely give you a surge of dopamine that'll make tackling enemies more rewarding than it already is. Next up is inventory management. It follows a mix of CDDA clothing-layering, with a Resident Evil-esque grid inventory system. You also need to juggle weight as well. Wearing too much clothes can make you burn up and slow you down, but might be the difference regarding an attack being fatal or freezing to death. That is old hat for indie survival, but the devs have done it right the first time, which to me is a win either way. If you right-click on an item in your backpack, it'll take it out and put it on the ground, and vice versa. left click on something to open a menu of what you can do with it. Drag and drop items around. You get the gist of it. Now character creation. Not going to hyperfocus on this one. It's basic. I won't complain about it, because once again the game just enter early access, but it's the weakest point right now for the game. You get some point to put into a few basic attributes, and then spend some more point to get basic traits, and choose the look of your character in face types, hair-style, and skin color. More games have it than not these day. You also get to choose your outfit, but you don't get a rundown of stats of the items right then, which leaves it up to you to determine what might be best. World creation is more basic, but the parameters it offers you to mess around with can really change your experience. Damage dealt, city spacing, etc. Unfortunately, I haven't played it enough as of writing this to comment of the story or vehicles, but so far? I love it. There, I said it. I think this is an amazing start for an indie survival-horror game. Just like another reviewer said, with polish and more content, this could be up there with project zomboid. I couldn't agree more myself. If you're willing to put up with some lackluster customization, and somewhat low-fidelity graphics, then you owe it to yourself as a indie-survival fan to pick this up- atleast on sale- to help support the devs and enjoy a good start to an attempt on making a game that covers the survival horror genre in the glory of 32 bit pixilation. NOTE: If you devs are reading this, I'm more than willing to help you all out with the English writing and general story. I'd love to be part of this project, as it is clear to me that this is one made from passion and the want to make something visually and mechanically different to many others that dominate the scene. Hit me up :)

Do I like this game? - Yes, its f*ing awesome. Progressed through the game to the point where I cleared all 3 dens. Very fun time. Would I recommend it to others? - Yes and No. The concept and gameplay is top notch, the feel of the guns firing and the impact of melee weapons can really be felt through the screen. HOWEVER, as with most early access games, it isn't polished and finished. Here are some of the things I've experienced: Many times throughout my run, the fps drops by ALOT, and in certain situations, it can spell the death of that character, especially when its raining or when theres a fire, which is understandable but still a major concern nonetheless. Moreover, some times these framedrops cause me to lose items when doing some inventory management, just 10 minutes ago, I lost an entire backpack full of goods due to the massive framedrop when I was dragging my bagpack to my truck's inventory which made me let go of it in between the inventory boxes of the truck and my bigger backpack. And yeah, if you couldn't tell yet, this led me to write this review. Another dissatisfaction is that melee weapons hit ALL things around you in the swinging motion, so in an enclosed space like a building, to kill zeds i need to hit the shelves or boxes around me to kill them, which drains my weapon durability very quickly and I'm forced to lead them outside if I want to preserve the durability. Which leads me to my next big point, the spawn locations of these zeds. Its super stup*d to find zeds spawning inside my base (one of the huge malls with the blue logo on the map). Theres one entrance and exit, which i built 2 more doors to get into. The spawning is random as well. Sometimes I go for a long trip to the trader and come back with not one spawning, but another time i went out like 100 meters to mine some iron and copper, to come to back to like 10 zeds inside my base (I closed all the doors before leaving btw). So it can be kinda of frustrating as I need to melee them and leads to me destroying my own things (got really mad went I realised I accidentally destroyed one of my storage boxes filled with materials(wood, scrap metal, etc..). So please fix this thanks. Another part is that the inventory management is really frustrating at times and when I started out, i was so boggled with inventory that I took a break from the game just 30 minutes in. It will be a constant frustrating drain on your attention limit up to the point where you get a base where you can store your stuff. So devs, try to find a way to reduce that drain on the mind or new players would just quit after a few hours. A minor dissatisfaction, the roads in this game are hot garbage. They lead directly into buildings and most of the time not connected or blocked by obstacles and forced me to destroy the metal barricades when I am using a car. Its much better to go through the desert biome(?) type area with lots of minerals, as you can move the minerals if they are blocking your path. There needs to be more npcs to interact with. The traders don't give any dialogue (at least in my run) or small talk to give immersion, they only buy and sell stuff (very overpriced), which I can loot easily from guns shops or malls. Theres no other use for money from my experience and thats pretty upsetting. There needs to be factions, like outlaws or mad scientists or something at least to have some kind of story setting. What this game has now is just the skeleton of what it can be, which is understandable as its early access. The enemy types are gorgeous and have alot of variety, which I love very much. HOWEVER, theres this mf*er with a spinning flaming fan on its head that is stupidly tanky and drops sh*t loot. Please, if youre going to make a wannable ariplane tank zombie, at least make the loot good! I got like 2 mutant flesh from one of them and 3 mutant flesh along with a shoe from another. Like, wtf. Used up 40 shotgun shells and like 20 revolver shots on that mf*er. Another minor dissatisfaction, some of the skill trees are still under development, hence I can only watch as I hit my cap for the skill tree as I progress through the game. Being on this topic, spoiler alert!!!! Apparently the boat to escape the island needs a sort of metal/alloy? I cannot find this metal anywhere and I cannot make it myself (at the moment) so I'm just stuck here bascially and its pissing me off. The games is blueballing me (T_T). So, in conclusion, I would recommend it to others when the full game is out or when more bugs are fixed, gameplay is smoother and when theres more content to be had.

⛔️ Too many gamebreaking bugs, wait until you buy. ⛔️

I can't recommend the game in it's current state, it's just too full of gamebreaking bugs & bad design decisions. Worst of it all, you need to use a chinese timezone on your Windows - because the dev hardcoded that into the game - otherwise using skills, crafting and even saving & loading will result in a gamebreaking bug or outright corrupt your savegame. Also, no key-rebinding. You can't change the keys in the game, fuck left-handed players I guess. The dev said he wants to "add content" first before adding key-binding, so it probably won't be added any time soon. Even for an Early-Access title, there are too many bugs.. Flashlights? They either don't work at all, are WAY too bright (literally blinding the whole screen), or they drain a new, full battery in 20 seconds. Because of this the nights are unplayable as you can't see anything. Eating food? You can get food poisoning even though the food is fine. Repairing an item? That can result in the repaired item disappearing. Using weapons? They can break after firing three shots, even if they have 100% durability. And you WILL get your guns "jammed" all the time, which means you have to repair the gun & the magazine. Which you can only do with a special repair kit. Not that jammed / broken guns matter, because there is SO MUCH loot in the game, that you will never feel any sense of survival. The first zombie you kill in the game can literally have a bulletproof vest, a medpack, water, a machete, an uzi AND a sniper rifle on him. Storing loot in a container? After you load the game, the container & your loot has either disappeared or has been teleported to god knows where across the map. Unlocking a skill? That can corrupt your savegame, or if you are lucky it just bugs out so you will experience stuff like suddenly your walking speed is 300%, making you faster than a car. Oh and the character creating is only half-working. You can unlock some skills at the character creating using kill points, but it doesn't actually do anything as they appear "locked" ingame again. And then you get all the bad design decisions.. Inventory management in this game sucks. You can't swap an item (of the same size) with another item in the inventory, you have to first move the other item to another place to "free" the inventory tiles where you want to place something. Organizing your inventory is a chore because of this. Furthermore, tech-demo Crafting is a chore as well. You open a crafting window, select a recipe and then you have to drag ALL the required items from your inventory into the crafting window. Why not just use what is in the inventory already?? Cloth in the game are just weird. You can wear multiple cloth over each other, meaning you can wear 5 pants and 5 jackets. You should be sweating like a hooker in a church, but instead the game tells you that you are "cold". Also did I mention that a lot of the settings in the games options don't do anything? For example there is an option to set the length of a day, but no matter what you choose it's always the same. Performance is awful as well.. You get FPS drops all the time, when there is fire, too many zombies running around or especially when these monsters with the tentacles appear. There is a "performance" option in the menu, but it apparently doesn't do anything. Also, when you drive a car, the terrain gets loaded in front of you. So trees and other obstacles, buildings and zombies do "pop up" right in your path, making you crash into stuff if you don't drive on near walking speed. Ironically having a too powerful computer can actually make the performance worse, as somehow the game can't keep up with your CPU / GPU anymore.

    Verdict:

The game in it's core is kinda cool, you run around and shoot lots of zombies. There is no sense of survival though, it's mainly a shooter. The soundtrack is nice and the sounds are alright. Graphics are mediocre at best but they do their job. However the game is just not ready yet, even for Early-Access. The dev is (slowly) updating the game, but his priorities are way off. He is updating content (and said himself so that's his priority) instead of fixing gamebreaking, corrupting bugs or adding important QoL features like key-binding. So my recommendation is to wait at least 3 - 6 months before buying this game, unless you are a masochist and like to experience frustration.
