My son and I play this game together, He loves it and can build a whole space army in minutes yet there's me with symmetrical power cells, towers and lines of defence, but fun all round, before you know it hours have past and the dinner is burn't and your tea is cold, quite captivating, would recommend!

As a 39 year old player with many years of SC and SC2 experience under my belt I have to say I prefer this game as my ageing reflexes now suck as micro but my mind is as good at macro as it's ever been.

TLDR; great game, large scale, has nukes, can blow up planets, but can be fustratingly slow in the late game. The game is totally worth your money if it costs less than 5 dollars. Update (1/27/19): The devs just announced that their servers have been optimized for more performance. I haven't tested it out yet but it sounds very promising. Ignoring the questionable decisions that the developers have made about the game, in terms of funness (you can say whatever you want, but the word is real to me), PA: Titans is one of the best RTS games that I have played. Unlike many other RTS games, the game runs on a flow economy, so rather than paying upfront the complete cost of a unit, your resources slowly drain as your unit becomes built, which leads to interesting tactics, like destroying most of the power generators of your opponent if you spot them building game enders, effectively pausing their production. Obviously, the game allows combat over many different planets / gas planets / asteroids at the same time, so managing your bases and armies at over 7+ planets at the same time can become interesting. Although the gameplay can start to feel repetative after playing for a long time, there are many mods made by the community (such as the legion expansion) that completely changes how the game feels, and adds a twist to the game. With the addition of titans and other units in this expansion, it allows for new ways to defeat your enemies instead of relying on nukes / halleys / unit spam. For a example, if you can't seem to control a planet, using nukes/units, and you don't want to spend time landing on another asteroid and building a halley, and waiting for the halley to hit the planet, you can instead invade a small part of the planet, defend it with everything you got, and blow the planet up using a Ragnorak Titan. The main issue of the game for me is that everything becomes extremely slow after playing a long game because the servers can't handle the lag. It can be very fustrating to launch a "suprise" attack onto your opponents with bombers, and having them take 10 minutes to travel across half the planet due to lag, and then watching your opponent blow them up because the lag allowed him enough time to think and react to your attack. Overall, for a game that I purchased for 4 dollars from a sale, the game is a absolute steal for that price. However if you are paying the full price of this game, watch people play the game and see if the sheer scale, nukes, death lasers, exploding asteroids and planets is what you would enjoy in a solid RTS. Edit: After playing this game for over a year, it seems like the developers have stopped creating content for the game, and are only fixing bugs, performing rebalances, and adding commanders which just have new looks (the community has already made mods for the latter two points, the devs essentialy just integrated them into the game). If you are expecting a game that will evolve with new official gamemodes, etc. then don't get your hopes up (although there are many amazing community mods like the legion expansion mod which adds a entire new faction, and custom maps where you race scout vehicles).

    >Friend and I get game >We play several games 1 on 1, working on our skills >Go onto 2v2v2v2 game on the same team, expect to loose 'cause we're massive noobs >Start game, land on same planet >I start on infrastructure (my strength) while friend works on an army (his strength) >Catalyst (big Death Star like planet) is knocked out early, wiping out someone with it. >We try offensive to another planet >We cripple owner, but we eventually get kicked off >Kim Jong-Un aparently plays this, because someone fired off like 10 nukes at once (2 directed at us) >Someone starts to send troops to our planet >Friend decides we have really no chance of winning, so comes up with a plan >Build Halleys (thrusters for moving planets) on home planet, ditch commanders to untouched planet and smash our home planet into guy who attacked us >Start production, using almost every single unit for construction, the rest I use for self-protection >Enemy troops about to land >Halleys are all finished >Starts a collision course >Friend never built transit ships, so it's a suicide mission now >I decided to deliver a speech to everyone else >Type into chat: "They say Humanity will go out, not with a bang, but with a whimper." "We are not Humanity, though." >In our final moments, we use all our troops to fend off the incoming offensive as our planet collides with the planet of another, annihilating us and another. 10/10 would commit inter-planetary suicide with friend again

I got this game for $6. 100% worth it. Is it worth $40? No. And only because at $40+ I expect a story mode/campaign. Im the type that enjoys a story with my rts games. Please note: the game has an official expansion that is free but installed in the in-game mod menu. This expansion basically doubles the game content. like 100+ more units, new avatars, everything. Its crazy. Also, it plays well with the current content. ------------- GAMEPLAY ------------- Lots of different unit and building options. The great thing, the options are actually meaningful. So far I dont think Ive actually come across a unit that I think is bad. The balance is great. There isnt an "I WIN" type of unit/build or play style. At least not at my noob level. ------------ AI ------------ Honestly, kind of shitty. Mind you, I was playing at normal difficulty. The commanders, the unit you are trying to kill to win the game...it doesnt even try to avoid death. It rushes into battle. From what Ive read, hard mode is a drawstic leap in difficulty from normal. WAIT THOUGH.... QUELLER AI MOD. The moment Ive started using this...the game is soooo much better. AI actually scales nicely to my ability. --------------------- Multiplayer --------------------- Ive been playing with and against a friend. Looks like the current winter sale has a bunch of new players playing. The forums seem active enough. I dont think finding games should be too difficult. It might mean you need to go into the steam community and ask for people to play with that are at your level, but its active enough to enjoy. multiplayer works. --------------- Overall, if you like rts games, this is a great addition and worth getting. Id say $30 or less is worth it.

This is the original planetary annihilation with more units. Still buggy. Will we have to buy another game later if we actually want it to work?!? It is shameful to charge people for a new game when this still doesn't even live up to the promise of what the original Planetary Annihilation should have been. This would have been ok as DLC, but Uber just want to be rid of their previous negative reviews for how buggy PA is. Unfortunately PA Titans is also still buggy. Shame on you Steam for permitting this. Shame on you Uber for doing this.

You can build thrusters on planets and launch them at other planets. The game has other mechanics, but that's the important one.

Update - 21/11/15 Unfinished base game with poor review score has returned to store after new rereleased "base game plus extra units - Titans" has moved past its initial launch period... Ok, there is a lot of anger over this release and to be honest it is understandable. This game is a re-release of the original Planetary annihilation with a few extras thrown in and then sold for £29.99! (This has become quite common during these hard times just rereleasing what should have been dlc packaged with the base game and then sold for a premium price). I was torn about purchasing (supporting this practise, see end opinion) this. I was given a 66% discount as I had already purchased the base game but even then it rankled me knowing it was basically dlc. In the end I treated it as such and got it. Having spent a few hours trying out all the additions I can say its fairly disappointing. Everything added is what the base game needs to reach a decent state. I feel sorry for anyone who has the base game alone as its basically unfinished. This full priced "dlc" brings the base game to a finished state and as such should have been patched in arguably for free. Now that is out of the way... I enjoy the presentation and mechanics of the game itself. I play primarily in single player and skirmishes. Altho the Galactic war single player non campaign (just a series of skirmish matches) has been rather boring so far as in 15 odd matches the ai has not moved, at all... It builds a few buildings then... nothing... This is on normal difficulty. It will happily stay there for hours as I build up all around it. Unfortunately my ai companion is on steroids and obliterates the non-ai every match in minutes making the whole campaign pointless so far... It is a real shame that no effort was put into making the single player campaign more immersive. I understand that is not the intended goal but to tack on a non campaign is pitiful. I can just hit a skirmish match and get a better experience every time. Wasted opportunity. I suppose it ticks the boxes as it is present but in a most lacklustre fashion. What this dlc brings to the base game is a lot of needed variety to the units. A handful of titan units, tutorial, bounty mode (more fluff) and slightly altered terrain (also in base game), altho in a very artificial tacked on manner. Dont expect mountains, valleys or anything of the kind. Just a slightly elevated series of platforms that look like they have been pasted on. So basically a lot of extra units. What should have happened : Base game remains. Dlc called "Titans" added for £6.99 max. Optionally add more actual content and call it an expansion £12.99. Result - happy customers and reviews resulting in more happy customers, hence more money. Release future series of dlc/expansions. Happy customers purchase them. Look at crusader kings 2. I have spent a fortune on dlc/expansions which bring meaningful changes to the game and also by the way put 80% of the features of the dlc into the base game for free. What happened: Update - 21/11/15 Unfinished base game with poor review score has returned to store after new rereleased "base game plus extra units - Titans" has moved past its initial launch period... Base game effectively abandoned and removed from store. (cynical customers might wonder if it was to hide the poor review score. I personally recommended it. ) Dlc called "Titans" branded as standalone added for £29.99. Result - unhappy customers and negative reviews resulting in less customers. Hence less money. Yes the money men will say if 100k buy it at £29.99 its better than 300k buying it at £6.99 in the shortterm. At the expense of reputation and goodwill. Your reaping the costs now. No amount of countering reviews will change that or removing base games or arguing adding 6 big units and 20 small ones and rebranding the game and selling it twice is a good thing. This really grates me. This game should be massive. Instead it stalled not due to the gameplay so much as the business model and direction surrounding it which is a real real shame. So overall: If you own the original and dont intend to purchase this premium dlc I offer my condolences. You have effectively been abandoned. You have an unfinished game that I doubt will ever reach a finished state. If you have not purchased the original or are contemplating doing so due to the low price, dont. Wait for this one to go on sale a few months down the line. I will not recommend it based on the price and the effective abandonment of the original, removing it from steam. I can not support this style of selling games. edit - clarity.

Enemy sent massive invasion force to attack my planet. Fleet destroyed. Forces are being wiped out. Defeat imminent. Enemy started victory gloating in chat. Que me rigging giant rockets on my planet and sending the whole thing on a collision course towards my enemy's base. Enemy panics. Scrambling to stop me. But it was too late. Nothing survived. Total Victory.
