This game saved my life. I am 38. My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and adopted our son together. They are now both 4 years old. When we were going through our separation, I found myself lost and miserable. I was self destructive. I got so mad one day from everything spiraling out of my control that I punched some concrete in a moment of overwhelming emotion. That caused me to break my 5th metacarpal in my right hand... my working hand... my games hand.. the hand that I held and carried my children to bed with.. The hand I desperately needed to make sure I could continue to provide. After learning of the severity of my self-inflicted damage, I was borderline suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man with no history of depression or anxiety. I have never had fits of rage, or been one to break down and cry, but I was in a low spot that just really buried me from being able to see the light on the other side. Having nothing better to do, I searched for a game I could play, ONE HANDED while I recovered. I somehow stumbled upon this game and read some of the reviews. I decided that it had to be worth a shot... I must admit, I didn't beat the game, or play nearly as long as some of you. In fact, I may have only played this game a day or two.. With that being said, after doing so, I had a new found joy and hope for life. I was able to put behind me the pain and suffering that had been cast over me. I was able to experience other peoples joy and happiness. I was able to see the fruits of my "labor". I relaxed for 5 :hillary: :hillary: :hillary: :hillary: :hillary: :hillary: :hillary: minutes to this music long enough to realize that I was going to be okay. After coming to that realization, I turned the game off, and I went back to work. It hurt my hand like hell but I was motivated. I stopped feeling so damn sorry for myself, and I became the father I needed to be in that moment, not the weak boy I was behaving as. Today, I am close friend with my kids mother. We don't fight, or argue, or say hurtful things to each other. We are parents, and friends. I now have 3 kids. My third child is, wait for it, ALSO 4 YEARS OLD. The woman I am with was going through a very similar situation at the time of my own separation, and we just stumbled in to each others life unexpectedly. We have been in a relationship for a year now, and are very happy together. Moral of the story, you never know what life holds in store for you, and if I would have given up when all the odds were stacked against me, I wouldn't be where I am today. This silly little game helped me realize that. Thank you

pretty funny comedy game if you like Family Guy/South Park-type humor, never a dull moment I think the gameplay is even kind of underrated Quarters is a bit busted though, but you can beat it every time with a hot key command, there is a guide on how this can be done that I made All in all I miss seeing this game with the first time experience

I got this game because it came in the retro bundle and I really wanted the original Leisure Suit Larry games. I love the original games (1-7, sans 4) and played them when they originally came out so, they are a nostalgic play for me. However, when Magna Cum Laude came out in 2008, it was released for consoles and I was strictly PC gamer at the time, so I never played it. To be honest I never really even paid any attention to reviews about it or anything. After having replayed and reviewed all of the original series I decided it's time to give this and the newer Larry games a try. Well... I tried this game and it sucks! It's hands down one of the least entertaining games I've ever played. I'll normally play a game all the way through, even if it isn't that good. I'd rather suffer through it and feel like I finished something than leave it unfinished. This game, I tried for about 3 hours, "romanced" 2 1/2 women, found like 30 something secret coins or whatever they were, and couldn't take anymore. So why did I love the other Larry games and not this one? Well, first off the biggest reason is the games mechanics and game play. The original LSL started as a text parser and evolved into a point & click. P&C Adventures are my favorite genre. This game isn't really a P&C. Part of that is that it was developed for consoles and not really for PC. While you can play it on PC it was designed and optimized for a controller interface. While I have a controller, I never broke mine out to play this game. I didn't bother because 1, I don't prefer to use a controller, I'm an old school PC player who generally loves WASD and arrow key movements or feels more comfortable with a mouse. 2, the gameplay itself would have been just as irritating no matter what input was used. This game has very little discovery and exploration compared to what I expect from a P&C. You have very limited input for looking talking and interacting with the things around you. You kind of have an inventory but its not like a P&C where you can open your inventory, look at items, combine them, and try using them in various ways. Instead the items here serve more like an unseen inventory or collection. Boosts that help you with with the mini-games, unlocks that let you see nudity or additional load screens. It's not as rewarding or engaging in my opinion. Then there's the actual game structure itself. You have to talk to a girl where you play a talking mini-game then do an activity like dance or play quarters or jump which is another mini game. The whole game is just a set of mini-games. That isn't always bad, but the mini-games are all essentially the same mini-game. They all involve quick action using the arrow (or WASD) keys. The talking minigames have you listen to the conversation while a little sperm travels along the bottom of the screen you can move it up and down and there are 3 rows in which a symbol will appear you need to avoid red ones (mostly) and hit green ones. Green fills the heat meter and lets you win while red lowers it and too low and you will fail. This is mostly skill based and a little luck based and makes you focus on the mini-game instead of any story or dialogue. The dancing and jumping games make you match arrow key movement to their timed sequence and quarters is frustrating on PC but involves hitting the down arrow then up arrow at the right time. The mini-games are highly repetitive and boring, but also the response rate for detecting keys pressed is poor so you end up missing things in the sequence even if you pushed it at the right time which more often than not fails you and you have to continually repeat it. These mini-games are the entire game and it makes it a real chore to play. The other thing I loved about the original games are the humor, story, and characters. Larry Laffer was a loveable character. Sure he was out looking to get laid, but he had is own charm and humor and sure he was kind of pathetic and his attitudes towards women were already dated, but you still somehow wanted to root for him. The game was witty. The jokes and sexual content were subtle and focused largely on double entendres. Larry failed pretty much all the time and it was hilarious to watch, read, and experience. They didn't need to swear and most nudity and sex was suggestive as opposed to direct. It was campy and fun. Magna Cum Laude on the other hand relies on more crude comments and jokes, goes for more direct nudity and sex and has us play a new Character, Larry Lovage, whose the nephew of Larry Laffer. Lovage is no Laffer. While they may look similar, dress similar, and both have sex as a main goal, they are worlds apart. I can't stand Lovage, who is a stereotypical frat boy, the kind you'd worry is going to date rape you if he gets the chance. He's crude, offensive, and disgusting. The game actually has him fart all over the place... why? Or publicly urinate all the time,... again, why? Hate, hate, hate this character and can't stand playing him. The whole game comes across as raunchy (in a bad way), crude, and gross. Though I don't mind the graphics they are very dated looking by today's standards. Sound quality is decent, professionally recorded and voice acted. You can at least adjust the volume of the music, voice, and FX separately. There's no option for text/subtitles from what I could see which sucks if you like to play with little to no sound like I do or if you are hard of hearing, or trying to understand from another language and sometimes miss what's said. Overall, I'd say you should give this specific game a hard pass. If you got stuck with this stinker by buying the pack to get all the other games, just hide it in your steam library so you are never tempted to play it. Do everything you can to forget this game is even remotely related to the rest of the Leisure Suit Larry line.

Go to the game main folder (where the .exe is) where you have it installled. And open "ConfigUtil.exe" to change the resolution, and customize controls and stuff. There aren't that many options, but whatever, the game came out back in 2004, that is 13 years ago, so even if it had the settings is not like the game would look significantly better, who knows... This is indeed the "uncut" and/or "uncensored" version of the game, it is the same one as the GOG version so there. This game is pretty much just a game about playing minigames, usuallly only a few of a kind that repeat over, and over again, there's the game of quarters which pretty much involves drinking after bouncing of a quarter from a table into a glass, the controls are pretty terrible and at times it would miss my shots, quite a lot. End up using a trainer for those, and it made my experience a heck of a lot better. Then there's the conversations minigame in which you need to guide a "sperm" into green icons whilst avoiding obstacles that progressively, as you continue in the game, become harder, and harder. There is a way to change the "adaptive difficulty" setting of the game, and turn it off completely, but to be honest, I didn't notice that much of a difference. Then there's the minigames in which you need to "dance" by following incoming patterns, in a similar vain to the Guitar Hero, and Rock Band games, only difference it's that at times the game can become a bit unfuctional and sometimes it would register what I was doing other times it didn't. Thing about this game is that everything that you do is connected to the framerate of the game, as well as to the vsync, so it isn't like you can disable vsync by forcing it off in your control panel, and then enable a framerate limiter that locks the game at 60fps, it causes bugs, and glitches, because the timing, of the minigames, is directly related to how much frames you're "throwing" at it. It can get quite annoying, I mean even in minigames, and activities that aren't affected, the basic problem with this game is that the gameplay its frustrating, and annoying to play, not only because there are times in which you're going to fail, over, and over again, but also because the actual time that you spend with those activities is boring, for the most part it's barely entertaining, after a while you just don't feel anything about it. It only got truly unbereable at times tho, so I guess that's the main reason as to why I didn't hated it completely, plus all of the things you do in this game always contribute to the progression, and eventual, culmination, of some really interesting, and funny stories. The whole game, as you may have come to expect, it's "semi-pornographic" (don't even know if that's an actual term but whatever). I knew this coming into it, and I was willing to play this game believe it or not, mostly because of the minigames, which is ironic because what really made me want to finish the actual game were the stories, the whole game is about seducing women around the college campus, as well as in two different areas that are supposed to represent exxagerated representations of the different social classes that exist in society. Their personalities, similarly to the areas in which they're in, are based around stereotypes that are taken up to a point in which if they weren't offensive to begin with, they get that way eventually within the context, and the use that this game gives to them, they're incredibly vulgar, and artificial personas, but I guess that's the whole point of the game, and however obscene it gets as you continue to play it, the funnier it becomes at times. In other cases, for me personally, it ended up being jarring, and annoying, it wasn't even that I got into this "prudish" mentality, Its just that... It got lazy after a while, it seemed to me as if the game was gradually trying to be funny while trying to be "shocking" and "ugly" without really genuinely being funny. But luckily for the most part it was fine, I didn't really have that much of a problem with the themes that the game deals with, while coming with an open mind, and understanding that this game is part of this game series. Overall the really big problems that I have is that the minigames, and some of the activities, are either boring, or annoying, there are times in which the game requires you to take pictures that amount to a score you need to reach, you take this pictures by usually following someone for prolongued periods of time while also trying to get closer, to try and catch better angles at they're genitals, or faces, it's very silly, and dumb, but so annoying, the game never tells you while you're doing this activities how much points have you collected so far, you have to finish them first, only to then inevitably restart them over, and over, again. I also really dislike how the game at times doesn't give you any sort of "input" about how good, or bad the pictures are, this is indicated by a series of lights on top of the camera that allows you to take pictures, the more lights, the better, it's supposed to be a calculative, and clear measure of where are the better angles, and where are the worse ones, but it doesn't work properly half the times, and at the end, in one of the last ones, I just had to use "tokens" in order to skip said activity. You get those tokens, as well as money, by exploring and interacting with different objects around the map, as well as completing missions, or even obtaining them as bonuses in the middle of activities. I enjoyed the game, it's fine, maybe I enjoyed it more because it was the first game in the series that I played, and the game is introduced as such, it is a new story, and for the most part it's very funny, and silly, to say the least, it is a series of absurd, obscene, and vulgar moments that are connected with sex, in one way or the other, that's kinda the whole game really. get it on a deep sale, and get ready to get frustrated by some minigames, other than that, it's fine.

The gameplay is same repetitive (and boring) minigames over and over again, but the point of the game is all about the humour, so they didn't really focus on the gameplay itself. Some minigames can be a bit frustrating, but the game gives you an option to lower the difficulty or completely skip the minigame, if you have failed enough. Good feature. The game is an absolute classic from my childhood. Never played any other Leisure Suit Larry's, but this was the only one in 3D, so it got my attention over the others. Recommended if you like this kind of humour.
