This game is amazing, accessible, and extremely fun, but you really should pick up the Microsoft Store version, since that is where most of the community exists. Its unfortunate they weren't able to add cross-platform between the Steam version and the Microsoft Store/Xbox.

What this Edition Includes For those Wondering: *All characters and stages from Seasons 1,2,3 as well as Kilgore, Eagle, and Shin Hisako already unlocked. *Gold and Terror Colors already unlocked *Omen gets colors 7,8 and 9 already unlocked *X mas Accessories? (These weren't included when I bought the game, but now I have them. Patched I guess?) *Crossplay between Xbox players (But be sure your internet is stable enough) *Choosing which character theme to play before fights. (Each theme also has dynamic responses depending on what combos you can dish out) *All Retro costumes unlocked (Omen, Shadow Jago, Shin Hisako, Kilgore DO NOT get one sadly. Retros also only have 6 colors, Season 3 characters have 7 colors) *Eagle's Retro Costume and Thunder's Nez Perce Skin are also unlocked right off the bat. *Unlockable Announcers (New, Retro, and ARIA) *Unlockable Training stages based on the original Killer Instinct, with soundtrack. (Just KI1, there isn't any for KI2 sadly.) *ULTIMATES are already included, but sadly only 15 Characters have one. And they're pretty tame considering the originals from past games. -Jago -Sabrewulf -Glacius -Thunder -Sadira -Fulgore -TJ Combo -Maya -Riptor -Aganos -Hisako -ARIA -Tusk -Mira -Kilgore -And Shadow Jago, but his works differently. (Characters with Ultimates will have a flashy *U* by their character model in the Character select.) *Stage Ultras, but only for a few stages. -Downtown Demolition -Forbidden Archive -Forgotten Grotto -Village of Whispers -The Pinacle -Arena of Judgement (Halo Stage) *Arcade Mode, but only for Season 1 characters sadly. There are 3 endings per character, and a secret boss fight with Shadow Jago at least. All characters can use Survival Mode, which works almost the same as Arcade, but with no endings. *Story Mode, but only for Season 2 characters Sadly. *Shadow Lords Mode works for all characters, but needs to be online at all times. Which is also the only way to unlock the Astral Plane stage, unfortunately. *You can train your own AI character via Shadows, but you can only make 2, and nobody uses them a whole lot. *The Tutorial mode is pretty solid, but only covers Jago and basic mechanics. There arent any character trials like in say Street Fighter 4. *You can also buy the soundtrack at a decent price, and it comes with ALL the songs, from KI1,KI2, and the reboot. ***Also Xbox had these Ultimate Source figures that came with a color depending on which character you bought, NONE OF THOSE are included in this version. Problems I've encountered. *Boss Shadow Jago's Ultimate in Season 1 Arcade Mode is bugged. It either gets swapped with Jago's Ultimate, or gets cut off half way through the animation. Not sure if this will ever get fixed, but Id highly recommend they do at some point. *Minor bugs here and there (One notable one is where Glacius uses his puddle move, but sticks out from the bottom of any Bridge level. His entire mesh just points out like an icicle, which I'm pretty sure isn't whats supposed to happen.) *Looking at Profile Icons, Backgrounds, even Extras like concept art and Endings can only be seen when You're Online. Back in KI Definitive Edition you could view them all offline, but here they mandated it for some reason. *Resolution settings might be wonky depending on your PC setup, you might have to fiddle with them to get something you want. *Online can be a ghost town sometimes, some days are better than others, but there will be times where nobody will be playing. Or maybe they are, but Steam version wont connect with them for some reason. Your luck may vary. *The old phrase **"KI WIll never be on Steam because Microsoft Owns it" **they said.... lol (Thought Id poke fun at that statement in hindsight.) So for the most part, the game has a good amount of content, and the gameplay is solid too. Theres plenty of room to experiment with just random moves and specials, but the more you play and catch certain patterns, you start to build more combos. Also the style of the characters, arenas, and even the music is just badass. The game is pretty much the love child of Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat, aesthetic wise. Get it on sale if you have to.

Are you familiar with a feeling, when you watch people play an awesome fighting game and you're thinking to yourself - "WOW! That is SO cool and entertaining, I really wanna play this game!" But as soon as you start playing it you realize something...you suck hard. All you can do is to repeatedly swing that leg and always make this stupid throw in close combat. And after such silly and ugly round you finish your opponent by this ridiculously weak leg poke...and he falls dead. "WOW! Well, that was NOT what I wanted from this game" - you immediately think. But fear no more! As THE KING of FIGHTING games has come! You just start playing and immediately feel like a GOD, like a MACHINE, you smash buttons and this beautifully looking game just gives you what you wanted, what you came for - you actually fight, instead of doing those "hu-ha-hu-ha" funny punches. You make combos, insane combos, ULTRA COMBOS, everything tells you - YOU LOVE IT! And if that wasn't enough yet - there are a lot of awesome and unique characters, each with different strengths and weaknesses, there are a lot of beautiful and detailed arenas, and there's music which gives adrenaline by itself. Of course, later you understand that you had "combo assist" on, that's why you were doing so good. And if you want to get some real skill - you can disable it and go into training mode, which will blow your mind by how many details and mechanics this game has. After hours of training you can start perfecting each character and become true master in the end. But hey, look who has come - those are your friends wanting to have some fun...well...you know what to do - just enable "combo assist" and let them scream in excitement while spectacularly fighting each other! And now the important thing. Jokes aside - Killer Instinct is undeservedly unpopular on PC. Just tell me - WHY? Why haven't you bought this game despite it being so cheap? Why don't you consider doing so? Just try it and you will fall in love! 10 out of 10! One of the BEST fighting games ever created and one of the most entertaining ones. It deserves much more attention!!! Multiplayer is dead now, but we can make it a better place, just grab the game and tell your buddies about it! Summary: this game is an example of how one SHOULD make gorgeous fighting game, making it simple and entertaining for newcomers, as well as deep and super-hardcore for experienced players. It has great graphics and optimization. The story mode is a bit weak, but the gameplay is insanely awesome! PS: I'm telling you all that as a person, who played MK games from the very first one on my trustworthy SEGA, and Tekken games from the very first one on a legendary PS, but I missed the KI becaue I had no SNES...and, well, after seing all those games in modern edition I can safely say - Killer Instinct is definitely on the same level, if not above at some points, especially the ones that are responsible for pure entertainment.

Killer Instinct is the best and the most unique fighting game of modern time. Why? It's probably the first to shake and transform seemingly eternal rules of fighting games. If you think about, since the iconic Street fighter II they practicaly haven't changed. Yes, they added more mechanics, more gauges, more crazy characters, more interactions, a lot of things. But none of them ever tried to change the basis of the whole system. Killer Instincs did. And it did so in an absolutely genius way. Almost all of the other titles are about combos. You learn the best buttons, you learn the most damaging combos, you learn to start them whenever you want. Yes, there's a whole lot of other things, but in the end it's all about memorising and performing combos. That's why watchiing a lot of tournaments is really boring. Especially if it's something like DBFZ, KOF, pretty much any anime fighter etc. *apart from SF4, it was awesome) Some guy starts a combo - sometimes the other one has to sit for almost 10 or even 15 seconds and just wait, because there's nothing he can do. Killer Instinct is on the other planet. It takes the most basic thing - combo - and makes it completely interactive. The combo breaker system virtually transforms the match from muscle memory competition to what it was alwasy supposed to be about - mind games. And the amount of them is utterly ridiculous. Literally EVERY time someone starts a combo, BOTH of the players MUST be very creative and attentive at the same, because any hit can be broken. That's why players actually have to make every combo unique in some way or they will lose. There are no "presets". And it's only the beginning, The authors added more meat to this system so that it would have even more mind games inside mind games. KI is the only fighting game where unsafe and risky moves are not useless and can be performed deliberately in order to BAIT the opponent into a combo breaker, so that you would do a counter breaker) It's insane. The system is very simple and logical, so you don’t have to spend weeks to learn one single character. All you need is to go through the tutorial one time. But it’s also incredibly deep and gives you nearly limitless room for creativity and skill show. It's impossible to actually explain how it all works without breaking down the mechanics and obviously i'm not going to do that, but trust me, it's genius. It's one of a kind. It makes the game feel totally unique. It has only one problem - I seriously can't play other FG's after I've experienced KI. Except Soul Calibur 6, may be) The brilliant game mechanics also allowed the devs to create amazing characters. I have probably never seen any other FG with SO many totally unique fighters. First of all, around 90% (or even more) of movelist of ANY character is actually useful and thought out. It just goddamn works. That alone is crazy. Second, the balance is practically perfect. And considering that almost no FG EVER had a balance where ANY character could be viable and tournament-worthy (like it is here), this is another achievement on the devs’ side (how many are there already?). Just one small example: in all FGs characters with very slow moves are considered low-bottom tiers, simply because any opponent can easily prevent you from doing anything. But here we have Aganos, who is incredibly slow, but at the same time he is completely unique as a concept and is a monster in the right hands. There is a dude who is a zoner, has command grabs, a whole lot of moves with unusual properties, can summon MINIONS for help and can even THROW the minions into the enemy or use them as resources… And it’s all at the same time. And he’s not op at all, he’s just THAT interesting. Not to mention how wonderfully the guest characters are made. Rash from Battletoads literally has animations from the NES game and all of his signature traits are woven into his gameplay. Ok, I already wrote too much. What else do you need to know about this game? - It has the best tutorial in the genre - The soundtrack is magnificent - Many game modes to play - Great multiplayer with very good netcode - Smooth animation and nice graphics - Low price - Crossplay with Xbox Just play it already) If you love FGs. If you are looking for something new in this rusty conservative genre. Put the time to learn and understand how the game works. You will be amazed and stunned. You will see that it has no rivals because there’s nothing like it. I would even say it's a fully completed masterpiece.

Important Stuff: Comes with all characters including Shadow Jago, Kilgore, and Shin Hisako. Comes with all colors except the figurine special colors. Netcode is great. Haven't had a laggy match or waited for more than a minute for a match. Lots of training and single player things to do. $30 is cheaper than $100+ buying all the characters on the Microsoft store edition. Can run this game on a toaster. Other Stuff: I haven't played Killer Instinct since the 64 version so I had a lot of learning to do since this game is 4 years old. The single player stuff helped with learning the system and made ranked matches easier to jump into. My computer isn't the best but everything runs smooth and it looks great. tl;dr - Buy the damn game!!!
