Now the very fabric of time is beginning to unravel, and it’s up to Kelvin and his fellow research assistant Lise to repair it. Point and click your way through three wacky, gorgeously drawn chapters to help Ludwig van Beethoven, Isaac Newton, and Leonardo da Vinci achieve their destined greatness!
For more puzzle game reviews, news and everything puzzle-related, follow Puzzle Lovers and check out our Steam group.
kelvin and the infamous machine is a cartoony point & click adventure that reminded me of day of the tentacle, pepper's adventures in time and bill & ted's excellent adventure, as they're all about traveling back in time to meet famous people for various reasons. in this one you're a goofy assistant working for a scientist obsessed with bathroom-based gadgets. after his time machine that looks like a shower doesn't win invention of the year, the doc goes on a rampage spanning centuries. it's up to kelvin to follow him and save the universe by putting great minds back on track, assisted from the present by his colleague and love interest, lise. controls are a mixed bag, which is always baffling. after decades every point & click should work perfectly. in this case it's left click for everything, with a few hotkeys, including a hotspot indicator. handy, since half the locations are pretty dark, but it doesn't show exits and spots only appear briefly, instead of as long as the key is held. double-click works for changing locations instantly, but walking speed is slow without a way to speed it up. chapters aren't that big or long, so the lack of a map for fast travel is not a huge issue. the inventory is a bit finicky because it can only be opened with a key or by clicking it (mouse wheel would be great), then have to select an item, then click an icon to inspect it (right click should work). and even more annoyingly, every attempt at combinining items closes it. a gibberish toggle isn't necessary because it's all voiced, but I really wanted a way to turn off the zipper sound playing with every opening and closing. text shows up instantly, as it should, click skips the current sentence if you read faster, but not always, which is really annoying. it affects cutscenes, except those are simple dialog for the most part as well. I figured I'd go back to get the hidden picture in the last chapter 4 but I couldn't skip any of the long intro, so I said fuck it. speaking of, the finale can be a bit annoying, you get teleported all over about every minute. there's no fail state, so you'll eventually manage whatever needs to be done. separate volume settings are available for music, sound and speech, plus languages and subtitle settings (off, automatic, click to advance), and audio settings are accessible while playing as well. not sure if autosaving happens in the background, I assume it does, but manual saving only when you quit, meaning no separate slots, but there's chapter selection at least. I didn't expect voiceovers, least of all good ones, but the game looks and sounds great and the writing is solid too. the usual pop culture references, breaking the fourth wall, what have you, but I enjoyed it. it would be a lot better if it wasn't designed for a single mouse button and the other issues didn't exist, but it still outshines many other first attempts at a point & click adventure. by all means, check it out if you're looking for some funny entertainment to fill an afternoon or evening, but wait for a sale.

A short, but sweet adventure with a lot of heart. The writing breaks the fourth wall often, which has become something of a point-and-click trope, but for some reason, Kelvin does it well. This is definitely a love letter to Day of the Tentacle, but does it well and holds up excellently in its own right. Disclaimer: I'm one of the voice actors. Oh, yeah, the voice acting is great.

This is by far and easily one of the best games I've played in a loooooong time. Rarely do I see one so completely bug free, and doesn't even come close to being the top 10 reason's why I like it. (I can't believe error free should have to be a selling point, but it really is.) The voice acting is excellent and talented, the puzzles are clever and logical, the art is beautiful, the side gags are hilarious, the script was inspired, really... everything. It's just perfect; I have not one complaint. An easy 10 out of 10. I don't say "10 out of 10" lightly, and personally (for spare time reasons) I am rarely compelled to write a review of any kind positive or otherwise. In this case I felt it was fair to the creators to speak up. I hope this developer stays around a long time. I'm now a fan.

This is almost a pretty good game and has plenty of good things going for it, including: + Well-balanced puzzles + Pretty good voice acting + Pretty decent visual design + Some humorous quips Unfortunately, while the premise sounds like zany fun, there isn't enough terribly interesting/funny stuff that happens and it ends too quickly. There are better point-and-click time traveling games that play with time as a puzzle mechanic (Silent Age, and Day of the Tentacle), making the game exciting and interesting. Had this game had something like that, even if it isn't a "fresh" idea, it would've made the game more interesting. Also, the game was buggy as can be (though it may be fixed now!). The game would crash and not reload, sometimes load (but not necessarily where you left off), and gave me trophies and then took them all away! This company shows promise, and this game may be a decent diversion for $5 or less (if the bugs are fixed). My recommendation is closer to "shrug" than "not recommended".

The game is pretty easy to solve, but there is some entertaining dialogue and fun, cartoonish graphics. Get it for the light-hearted fun, but don't expect anything overly challenging.

Just finished playing Kelvin and the Infamous Machine. It took me a little over four hours. Amazing artwork. Wonderful storyline. Awesome animations. Hilarious lines. Funny little adventures. It is such a fun, creative puzzle game, almost makes me nostalgic with its mechanics. I loved the concept, dialogue exchanges, and how it all came together. I wish it were longer. Venturing from point A to point B wasn't very tiresome either (as you would sometimes come to expect from a point-and-click), because although a bit repetitive at times, it was done well. You are Kelvin, consistently on the hunt for something, crafting ingredients or objects together, and/or having a hearty, sarcastic little back and forth with someone, no matter where you may be. Overall, it was not boring, it made me think a bit, and brought a smile to my face. 10/10 would recommend! 11/10 will play again

I really like the point-and-click games and this one is really good, fun and leads us to explore every part of the scenario. Only con is the gameplay which is not so long, I would like to see more time travel phases in this game. Anyway, if you like a good point and click game you should try it ;)
A Silly Love Letter
Excellent and fun Point-and-Clicker! The ridiculous antics of the hapless Kelvin as he travels through time is so reminiscent of Day of the Tentacle it's hard not to make comparisons. And it seems like a lot of people have. Or, drawn comparisons to Monkey Island games. The truth is, the game makes no bones about the connection and source of inspiration. It's so heavy-handed, in fact, I'd say it's more of a love letter to those Point-and-Clickers of yore rather than a mere homage. I loved those games and I love this one. The humor is sophomoric, the plot is predictable but hysterical, and the art is awesome but not heavily animated, and I enjoyed every gosh-darn minute. I certainly recommend checking it out, but not at full price. (Even with 100% completion--hunting for all the Easter eggs and achievements--You'll be lucky to eke out 6 hours of gameplay.)

I really enjoyed this game. I got stuck a few times, running here and there unsure of what to do, going long distances. Very enjoyable storyline with humor. Pleasant play through. I got this on sale and for what I paid, I think it was well worth the 4.4 hours put into it. I only achieved 1/2 of the achievements but could've achieved more if I'd looked before playing through the game early on. I'm not disappointed I purchased this game.
