Wife’s been pretty depressed lately so I bought her this to play while I’m gone at work. Every time I come home she’s excitedly telling me about the game. I love seeing her this excited, would definitely recommend this game for casual gamers

    - After a few hours, I haven't encountered any bug or glitch. (If there was any minor one, I didn't notice it) Tested on i7-6700, GTX1060 6GB, 32GB RAM, Win10 64bit, SATA hard drive. The frame rate is steady (I set the limit to 60 fps). And it's less than 1GB on the hard drive. - The game is basically Harvest Moon: Back to Nature with bigger map, improved quality-of-life features, gorgeous watercolor graphics, and beautiful BGM. (In case you didn't know, Story of Seasons is practically Harvest Moon. They just don't call it that due to some license issue.) - Some players complain about the control. I guess they use KB+M which I haven't tried (and I don't think I would). I use Xbox One controller and it works great. - Having two of my most beloved franchises in the same game is a must-buy for me. But if you're not a Doraemon fan, you might want to check out Wiki a little just to give you some background about Doraemon's gadgets, these kids' characters, and how the special 'adventure' episodes of Doraemon are structured. - Using characters from Doraemon has its negative side. It means Noby (Nobita) can't hit on girls around town or he'll be way out of character, unlike the main guy in HM:BtN (or the main girl in that other HM game). So, romance is out the window here. You can still give gifts to the townspeople to make them like you more though. - Two minor complaints. 1) If you grew up in the countries where they translated the manga character names as close to the Japanese names as possible (Nobita, Shizuka, Suneo, Giant) you'll find that the English names (Noby, Sue, Sneech, Big G) really, really stick out in a weird way. It'd be ideal if the dev could patch in an option to pick between the original names and the westernized ones. 2) There's no transparency when you're behind a tree, and if items drop behind a tree, you also can't see them and you just have to walk around until you see the 'Pick Up' button prompt. *** EDIT *** Another complaint: No cloud save. It's not a big deal if you play on one machine. Well, it's still not that big a deal when you play on several machines. It's inconvenient though. Conclusion: For a HM+Doraemon fan, this should be a no-brainer. For a HM fan who doesn't know anything about Doraemon, this game is still a good HM entry on PC.

So far I'm enjoying this game. Yes, it is true the introduction/tutorial/opening story is incredibly long (about 40 mins) and unskippable, but as someone who has never seen Doraemon I found it interesting, though it could have been cut in half because by the time I hit the thirty minute mark I was becoming a bit bored and anxious to get into the actual gameplay. Once I was able to actually get in game and play a bit I found the keyboard controls to be a bit clunky. They take a bit of time to get used to, but you are able to rebind the keys to your liking, so it's not too much of an issue. You can also use a controller if you prefer. Regarding the art - the watercolor design is simply beautiful and lovely to look at, and I find the music really peaceful and calming. The one thing I did do immediately after the tutorial was over was turn off the character's voices. I couldn't take hearing Noby grunt every time I hit a rock or chopped a tree, etc. Also, all of the NPCs seem to talk about the weather a lot, lol. This is a good game if you're looking for something relaxing with what seems like a wholesome and charming story line. There's no combat (and no romance, because kids, lol) and I don't get that sense of feeling rushed while playing. It's a good game to sit down and kick back to for a little bit after a hard day of work or if you're in the mood to play something that's stress free. And yes, the game is a bit expensive, but for the quality and content of the game I feel like it's worth the full price.

No doubt, Doraemon SOS, is a very beautiful game. Decent animation, unique character portraits and sprites, and a stunning village/background.... Unfortunately, everything else left much to be desired, The farming mechanic follows the classic Bokujou Monogatari series, but there are times it can be torturous instead of fun. Animation to bring the animals out of the barn and coop is very clunky and unnecessarily difficult. Intro scene was too long and unskippable. ALL scenes are unskippable and can't be fast forward, so those who might want replay have to see the scenes all over again. ALL achievements are super easy because they only require the minimum. The foraging for items is the normal 'drilling' for any farming game, so depending the kind of player you are, it can be either a good challenge or bad challenge. But the most disappointing of them all is the characters' dialogue. Yes, there is a story/plot, but waiting for the next story point/mission can be boring because the villagers, no matter how many hearts you gain from them, their daily dialogue is always about weather. Only their heart events has unique dialogues, so they aren't all that interesting outside of those events. This game is a spin off from another IP that has its own lore and canon, so having no marriageable candidates is understandable. But I had hoped they'd recompensated through more interesting villagers. Alas... I hope the team who did Doraemon SOS can learn through this one's shortcomings and maybe make a spinoff in Natura? The game is way too beautiful to be just used in one universe. Maybe a new (chooseable) farmer got blown into Natura next time?

As someone who gets burnt out on farming sim games before finishing them, I actually finished this one. Because of the genre, I was hesitant to buy it, but I love Doraemon and the art style looked so incredibly beautiful that I had to try it. The game is fun and relaxing, the music is whimsical, the animals are cute as hell, and I was actually invested in all of the characters and subplots. They’re so caring and have such wonderful can-do attitudes. Natura was just a sweet little world I got lost in. The reason I actually completed this game when I typically never complete farming sims is this: Doraemon: SoS is simple, not challenging, and does not require you to perfect/max out anything. You really don't benefit from trying to be a perfectionist. This game really only asks that you participate and experience a little of everything, and that is SO nice. You CAN sink a ton of your time into this game but it’s not necessary to see the ending. ~40 hrs and I saw everything I felt I needed to see. My only complaint is that it IS a bit of a drag to max out friendship levels (which you would want to do to see all of the mini storylines to completion -- bummer considering this was my favorite part of the game), so I didn’t, because that consists of giving each person about 150 “perfect” gifts. I spent more time on this than I would have liked. I know most farming sims (with villagers to befriend) operate this way but it feels so archaic and miserable.

This is a game for all the OG harvest moon fans, and those who watched Doraemon in their childhood. Art style, music, and storyline are the best features of the game, in that particular order. 10/10 relaxing. Easy game too, considering I've nailed 81/100 achievements in the first year of playing. It's also not a story-rich game for adults (ala stardew valley), more like a cute/fun/random little stories for children kinda plot. Very kid-friendly game. Be warned though, this game is draggy AF. I've sunken in 61h and I'm still in year 1 winter. Not a quick game to get through, more like a chill slow game.

I love Doraemon and harvest moon as a child, and this combination is like a dream come true for me. It's a super beautiful and polished game. I really enjoyed the start of the game and the art style. It feels like living in a watercolor book. The characters are unique and interesting. I wish they have more cut scene so I could get to know the characters better.   Unfortunately, the game mechanic is quite simple. We have all the basic harvest moon features, but it's missing things that i like about other simulation games such as crafting. Maybe when I get further in game, I could explore more of those things.  My first impression video: https://youtu.be/zyc5SNJA57M

I believe this is my first Steam review. Why start now? To warn you of a poor purchase. At hour 25 it will be apparent that this is not the game you hoped it would be. it is easily the most shallow rendition of any game of its type. I got to fall of year one before realizing that I had achieved 61% of all achievements and most of everything I normally set out to do in this type of game. Key things missing/ lackluster in this game 1) Dating system. Typically this drives the mid-late game for this genre. Its woefully missing here. 2) Interactive festivals. Coming from My Time in Portia, this game has fewer festivals and the interactivity of each is extremely poor. No games/stalls, no moving pieces, events to take part of etc. Most are: turn in your best crop and watch a tiring cutscene. 3) Greater mission. Completely missing is anything to drive you forward such as the Stardew Valley community Center, or the many levels of a mining/ combat dungeon seen in Stardew and My time in Portia, or even any museum for all your collected items seen in both other games as well. Other than a very boring storyline that in no way feels important to you as a player, there's absolutely nothing to complete in the long run. 4) Mining only has 9 levels with the 10th being exclusively fishing 5) Im told half of all farmable crops are restricted until year 2. Probably done so that there's "new" things to do in the game when it falls apart completely in year 2. 6) The farming prices/ quality produce system is just terrible. Farming is WAY less profitable than fishing and mining for example. 7) Item upgrades are terrible and no upgrade reduces stamina used for the tool. Overall its a complete rip-off at $50 and a terrible disappointment that the game we all want so bad is stuck behind releases like this.

PROS: - Beautiful visuals - Charming characters - Large variety of wild animals you can interact with - Nice incorporation of Doraemon's gadgets into the game's mechanics - Rewarding fishing system - Good variety of items to customize farm - "Nap" feature that allows you to recover stamina CONS: - Too many cutscenes - Confusing controls - Lack of important features such as: rotating furniture - Tools' upgrades don't pay off the grind for materials - Repetitive tasks such as: having to push animals individually out of the shed - Very small backpack space at the start of the game - No marriage - Poor gifting system This is the perfect game for fans of the classic Harvest Moon/ Story of seasons franchise who are looking for a refreshing look and a lighthearted feel in a farming game. For anyone else, Doraemon Story of Seasons might overwhelm with excessive cutscenes and grind in order to improve your farm and relationship with other characters. Do not expect machines to help with the labor, everything is slow and it is crucial that the player emphasizes with the story and the main character's flaws in order to make sense of all the manual work. 7.7/10
