  This game is awesome. I rarely play games that is about the 17th and 18th Century. It's amazing to see different playable Nations and discover what their buildings, armies and sometimes their cultures look like. Futhermore, the designs of the maps and soldiers armours and uniforms are very lovely. Plus, the stories are very interesting and fun(I also love the jokes they've put in there). Finally, the music is hyper addictive. I can't stop listening to them. This game sometimes reminds me of my childhood when I play flash games. I'm glad that I bought this game, I can't wait for the next DLC to come and I hope they finish the Editor mode.

  I feel like I need to throw my review into the stack due to the bad press this game is getting. The game is genuinely fun. If you're an old school RTS player where you like to upgrade stuff, build some walls and invade with a massive amount of units then there's no reason why this game won't be fun for you. The biggest thing about this game is it is priced so well. There are several early access games that will never even begin to get 10% of the content this game has for more money. If you snatch it on a sale like I did, then you're doing even better. Grab the game, enjoy it, and don't be a hard critic or we'll kill off the RTS genre and be stuck with early access flops for the rest of forever.

  Wondering if you should purchase Cossacks 3? allow me to help you in that decision. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you enjoyed age of empires 3 but was dissapointed in the population limit of 200 units, and wanted bigger, heavier battles but still wanted to build a city from the ground up and collect resources, this game is for you 100%. I promise you will enjoy this game. I searched and searched for a game to capture my attention like AoE did, but couldnt find anything close to it. until I picked up this game in the steam summer sale. ------------------------------------------------------------------ PROS: - great visuals - map editor - Lots of unique civlizations to choose from - unique units and buildings - high replay value vs the computer - ability to have THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS of soldiers, massive armies will collide CONS: - peasant A.I is really... odd? sometimes make weird pathing choices, manuevering around in circles or buildings for no reason. - small bugs here and there, nothing game breaking. - long loading times All in all, a really great RTS game, and if a fan of the genre, this is a MUST try. 9/10

  My father is 56 part 3. A few things about my father: -Can't speak english. (Note, the game has no Dutch translation.) -Usually plays AoE or Knights & Merchants non stop. -Used to play Cossacks alot a decade or so ago. -Currently unimployed. -His birthday is in November. And so I bought my father Cossacks 3 for his birthday. Fast forward 2 months and BAM, 130 hours played. 130 hours of him waking up at night to play. Countless hours of hearing loud gunshots in the house during the day. But it's worth it, because he loves it. And that's what matters. My father is 56, and always plays Cossacks 3.

  In 1999, I was a child. A child who loved video games. A child who played Age of Empires 2. A child who went on to play Empire Earth. A child whose father purchased Cossacks. Cossacks 3 is Cossacks. It's the same game. Nothing meaningful has changed, except for the key fact the game now runs on modern systems. Does it run well? It runs. There are new factions, sure. These new factions don't matter. There are functionally three categories that every civilization falls into one of. 1: We cease existing in the 18th century, and must end the game before then Or Else. 2: We pray nobody finds us until the 18th century, by which point it's too late for our enemies. 3: We pretend to be a balance of the two. Several civilizations have identical tech trees and bonuses to others, and their differences are functionally aesthetic and nothing else. This is disappointing. But it IS Cossacks. It's the game I played as a child, and loved. Which I still love. Do you want ongoing support? You receive none. Do you want a game that runs stable? No. Autosave or live in regret. Do you want an RTS where you throw a thousand units at another thousand units in one huge glorious mess you built towards for 50 minutes, while you frantically dot the landscape with cannon-armed towers and pray it'll be enough to forestall death? Do you want to make 4,000 villagers and reach resource numbers in the hundred thousands so that you can sufficiently fund the monstrosity your army is swiftly becoming? You will have this, but not more. This game is 'mostly positive' for good reason. It does not pretend to be more than it is, other than calling it Cossacks 3. It's just Cossacks. It's just a remake with a few new civilizations. Is that enough? Only you can answer that for yourself. It is enough for me, on sale. Perhaps a real sequel will come, one day. I don't know what that would entail. Honestly, what would this game benefit from having added to it? It is what it is. Massive RTS battles. More guns than any other RTS I know of. Complex formations whose effectiveness far outstrips a disorganized firing line, and will beat such a thing every time. Merciless AI that wants you dead and crying. Steam refunds allow a refund of any game you've played less than 2 hours of. Give it one match, and see what you think. I played hundreds of hours of Cossacks in my youth. You could, too.

  Cossacks 3 is currently the only true RTS game that you can play apart from the old age of empires games and starcraft. I played cossacks 1 an awsome amount of times together with my best friend and we had so much fun. Cossacks3 is a very good follow up to that. The engine looks really nice and it is made to support crazy armies. Allthough around launch some people had some problems with cossacks 3 i am confinced that most problems have been solved due to almost weekly patches. The support from the makers has been great and now the game is the best cossacks game ever. The rebalancing of the game has been great in many ways. Civ's are much more balanced, but also all units and the economy. Besides that the game has become much faster then cossacks 1. The mine upgrades are cheaper and the 18th century is much cheaper as well as the 18th baracks. There are much more strategies because of that. A rush during the first 20 minutes is still viable, while you can defend and get to the 18th century quick as well. In earlier versions of cossacks a fast 18th century was suicide, now it can be very potent. Cossacks 3 has become an esport with ladder games and supported tournaments. Hopefully it will grow in size and pricemoney. The game is the only true RTS at the moment!

  I really like this game, but it is extremely hard for new players to get good at the game because everyone who plays it are absolute pros, I have played the game for a while and I rarely ever win in a classic 1v1 match against someone online. I would really like a ranking system to separate pro's from new players.

  If you're familiar with the "Age of Empires" series then Cossacks will feel pretty similar right off the bat. What Cossacks does differently than Age of Empires is scale up the size of the battles and adds a little more realism to the game. In Age of Empires II (AoE2), you were limited to a maximum of 500 population. In Cossacks, you'll need at least 300 peasants/villagers alone to fill your mines, of which there are three types (Iron,Coal,Gold). Cossacks also has wood,stone and food (as found in the AoE series) for resources. While in AoE games you were free to spend up your resources until they ran out, in Cossacks that has consequences. As usual, if you run out of stone/wood, building anything becomes impossible. If you run out of food, your peasants and soldiers will start dropping like flies due to to famine. If you run out of gold, any mercenaries or ships will mutiny against you, causing more problems. There's nothing like a Ship of the Line going rogue right off the shore of your city, while you scrounge up cannon and any other ships availible to deal with it before it levels your town or your army. Running out of iron will prevent you from building units, while running out of coal will mean your gunpowder units cannot function. The battles themselves are interesting, as it can be tricky keeping track of your forces spread across the map. Fortunately most units in the game produce pretty quickly, allowing you to build up an army in little time. AoE fans will notice that you are able to build priests in Cossacks as well. However they can only heal units, and cannot convert enemy units. Enemy soldiers cannot be converted to your side in anyway, although your troops can capture enemy artillery(cannon,howitzers,mortars), buildings and peasants. Cossacks doesn't have the unit variety of say, Age of Empires 2, due to AoE covering the timespan of 700-1500 AD while Cossacks is 17th/18th century (1600/1700) only. AoE has many civs while Cossacks features 16 with the base game, all European civilizations (as the game's focus is Europe). All the civs in Cossacks do have their unique units and bonuses, similar to AoE, and all of them have different building architecture. In the end, if you're an Age of Empires fan but up for trying something a little different, Cossacks is worth a try.
