The third game of Blackwell series and once again we play as Roseangela. Six months after the first time she met Joey, Rose's personality has changed, she started to be more confident and ready to speak and confront anyone. The story starts off with a new case. A man who jumped off the ledge and his death was ruled as a suicide, his ghost was still lingering around and Rose had to release it. Once she was done, Rose realized she had forgotten an appointment with her friendly neighbor who was waiting for her in the gallery. Surprisingly this gallery will be a link to many other cases, and something related to her aunt's past. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2182140363 I loved this game the most, I liked how Rose has changed and she clearly trusts Joey who you can play as in this game. The only different thing is you can't combine clues anymore, you'll just write down whatever she wants to remember and ask about. Rose has her trusty computer to search for information, and she has her own email too. The artwork of this game has really improved and the music is outstanding, especially the credits soundtrack. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2182140526 There are a couple of puzzles where you need to use items if you ever stuck you can speak to joey and he'll give you hints of what to do next, but there is an achievement of not asking for hints. If you are after achievements, they are very easy, especially that you can manually save your progress and return to it to do the other thing, for example getting drunk or refuse to drink. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2182141035 Pros: +Interesting story. +Beautiful soundtracks. +Well-done voice over. +Beautiful and detailed pixel art. +Fast travel map. +Manual + Automatic save files. +Hinting system (Asking Joey what to do next) +Steam achievements. Cons: - Nothing! Everything about this series makes me regret not playing it earlier. I loved the new style of the character's portraits, at the beginning I didn't like it, especially Joey, but the more I look at them the more I love the style and details! This is the 3rd episode of Wadjet Eye's Blackwell series after Legacy and Unbound. Pros:

As Legacy already told us how Rosa and Joey met we are thrown right in the middle of things here.
There is a close connection to Unbound in this game - while the 2nd episode in the series is actually a prequel it is still recommended to go in order (Legacy-Unbound-Convergence) as the antagonist will be familiar here.
Dave probably had a bigger budget at disposal as this game looks prettier (especially compared to Unbound). I think the stories are also improved upon as we play the sequels.
Cons:

Not really issues but I thought I'd mention two things. First of, while the commentary option is available only Dave speaks. I particularly liked this mode in Unbound as some of the other staff members were available to comment.
Combining clues is not possible anymore. This added an extra challenge in the other two games - Dave does give a valid reason for its absence amongst the commentaries, though.
A great sequel in the series. I really am looking forward to completing the final two. In case you liked the first 2 episodes you're going to like this one even more.

The best part of these games is how you feel like you are drawn into a small world that these characters inhabit. I could easily see this as a TV series. I enjoyed the acting and the stories. There is not much you could say that is wrong with the game, except that it could have been beefed up a little more, some how? More story? More puzzles? Somehow... The second game is the weakest, overall, yet I really enjoyed being able to experience it, so it worked well as part of the whole. With that said, the only real downside is that it's really short! Buying the package of 4 games is like buying 4 parts of one game. I gave this review positive because I did in fact buy it as one game. Had I purchased them one at a time I would have brought the ratings down a touch.

The Blackwell Convergence is the third game in the Blackwell series. This game is a point and click adventure where you play as medium Rosa Blackwell and her spirit guide, Joey Mallone as they solve a string of supernatural murders. Rosa and Joey look into the ghost of Frank Lyons, an actor now famous after his death, only to discover that his death is connected to some other unusual deaths, including some that Joey investigated with Lauren in the previous game. Rosa and Joey have to uncover the cause of these deaths and their connection to the Countess before anyone else dies. The gameplay in Convergence is pretty typical for the series: you walk around, talking to people, gathering information, and solving puzzles to help the ghosts move on and otherwise move the story forward. In this game, you don't have to combine clues in the notepad in order to get other clues, unlike in some of the other games in the series. Overall, I would say that the difficulty in this game is on par with the other games in the series, maybe slightly easier. There were a couple of small puzzles that weren't especially intuitive, but for the most part I thought everything was pretty reasonable. This game is probably the least interesting of the series when it comes to characterization of our protagonists, but it's still pretty good. Joey's character isn't really expanded on very much in this one, but it's nice to see how Rosa has changed since becoming a medium: she's coming out of her shell a little bit and she's pursuing novel writing, although it isn't working out much for her so far. I didn't have any technical issues with this game, although like the previous games, it is a little older, so expect the game to look a little weird in bigger screen sizes. Also like the previous game, this game turns off the commentary by default when you reload a save, but if you enable it in the main menu before playing each time you should get the achievement. Overall, The Blackwell Convergence is a pretty solid continuation on the Blackwell series. If you liked the previous games, you'll probably like this one too. While I don't think it's the best of the series, it has most of the strengths of the other games and continues on the series well. 8/10

About 50% longer than the previous Blackwell games, it's also the easist, clocking in at 2 hours or less. While still a fun enough game, don't expect to be challenged, and while you can play this without having played the previous games, much of the enjoyment comes from the continuation of the Blackwell story. A good light game if you can get it on sale.

Blackwell Convergence is the third installment of Blackwell series, and it continues the story of Rosangela Blackwell, a couple months after the first game left her. Convergence drags us further into the legacy of Blackwell family, shedding some light on the nature of their responsibilities, raising many more questions that we will chase after in later installments. The more I play these games, the more I sink into Rosa's shoes, leaving me with a feeling of uneasiness and even suspicion for our age old companions. Several months after the Blackwell Legacy, we learn that Rosa did quit her small book review job and desperately tries to publish a "fiction" novel that tells of her experience about her first case: "The Devil and the Deacon". Frustrating enough, fiction novels are not exactly on great demand. While pursuing a career as a blossoming author, she keeps investigating several cases with Joey, following Lauren's footsteps. After a fairly basic case, she attends a gallery opening as she promised to her neighbor and only living friend, Nishanthi Sharma. The incidents to follow this fairly generic social event will complicate Rosa's life within only a five days period. She is to meet an old adversary, pursue a murderer, rub shoulders with her aunt's circles and encounter a mysterious madam who asks her help in turmoil. I'd like to define the first game as mystery that tips its hat to folklore, and the second was basically a noir movie with supernatural elements. This third one, however is surreal in tone, and philosophically inclined to dabble with notions as responsibility, family, trust, cause and consequence. Nearing the end of game, there is a whole part weaved with metaphors and symbolic apparitions only. I felt a great sense of respect towards Wadget Eye Games and their golden boy Dave Gilbert when they used Joseph Mitchell, legendary journalist and an expert on human soul in Blackwell Unbound. In this game, they add Joe Gould, namely Professor Seagull to the equation and bring in the big term that shall dominate the storyline from now on: the collective unconscious! This installment was a downright early Christmas present for nerds like me, who are greatly interested in social sciences. When we take this second glance on Rosa, we are quick to realize that she is more experienced now. She stands her ground and tries her best to get the job done. She is still an odd duck, but more open to interaction and takes steps on either bonding with other people, or at least persisting on what is right. Her dynamic with Joey is becoming better in synchronicity as a gradual process. But it is safe to assume that she is not there yet. I couldn't believe my eyes when I realized that she was even trying to make actual jokes, different from her passive aggressive sarcasm that we encountered in the Legacy! Rosa is becoming a strong female character, just as Lauren was, with personal standing, a sense of justice and an in-depth personality as she grows up. With her cheesy grin, baggy clothes and nerdy glasses, she is a refreshing figure compared to the sexually exaggerated female protagonists that we encounter nowadays. This is a good example of character development. As far as the game itself goes, it is evident that everything is improved. Graphics are prettier, and the atmosphere is more carefully arranged to establish an eerie setting, strengthened with beautiful soundtrack. Adding clues sequence is completely removed from the game, yet we are encouraged to use technology more to progress during case investigation. We use Rosa's computer to find an address, get into people's mail, and gather information and so on. Joey hasn't been very effective in this game, but he is still a controllable character with the option of consultation. This series is like a symphony; starting sleepy, speeding to raise suspense and dive into a crescendo. What next? Only the fourth game will tell. At this point, I insist. Please give this game a chance, if you enjoy adventure games. Everything will become personal so fast, you will wonder when that happened. Blackwell Convergence is the third entry of the series and sadly the shortest of them all. The puzzles are very simple, but the story and voice acting are both very good. Part of the journey, worth the bundle.

Blackwell Convergence picks up six months after Blackwell Legacy. Rosangela and Joey are still new to working with each other, but a face from Blackwell universe past makes a reappearance in a shocking way. Gameplay mechanics are a mix of continuing elements introduced in Blackwell Unbound, a twist on features that have been in both previous games, and of course some awesome new components. The player can continue to switch between our two main characters, Rosangela and Joey. Joey’s ‘blow’ ability is an added skill to the repertoire players can utilize when playing as him. The player can still type when searching for additional information, but since we’re now in the computer age, Rosangela has access to the ‘Oogle’ search engine rather than just the phone book like her Aunt Lauren. In addition, Rosangela also has access to email (which provides some fun easter egg references from previous Wadjet Eye games)! Although Rosangela still has a clue notebook (which Joey can also now access), the mechanic of combining/linking clues to further the story was removed in this game. Blackwell Convergence really amps up what has become a staple of Blackwell games in the inclusion of iconic New York figures and locations. I’ve never been to New York, but if I ever do go, there are some places I would probably want to visit just because of this game series (such as Minetta, Roosevelt Island Lighthouse, etc.). It gives me a frisson of delight that when you go to the Minetta’s website the pictures show it looks like it does in the game! I also have works related to Joseph Mitchell and Joe Gould on my to-read list. It is a fun twist that basically this game is the game designer’s ‘explanation’ on the mystery behind why Joseph Mitchell never wrote anything for decades, from 1964 until his death in 1996. Joey provides any needed explanation to Rosangela where the story involves faces from the Blackwell universe past, but those who have played Blackwell Unbound themselves will probably have a richer experience. At the end, Rosangela convinces Joey that they should take advantage of the internet and make their gig a real business, indicating new flavors to come in future series installments.

This game has a really high quality production value, especially for an indie title. As with the two previous games the characters are charming and appealing, amazing voice acting and very solid writing. The graphics were wonderfully upgraded, so looks way better while still maintaining the style that defines the series. The puzzles aren't really challenging, so that might be a negative to some people. The music is really lovely, and I think one of the game's strongest points. Another great ghost story, highly recommended.

The 3rd of the 5 Blackwell games. Rosa is now slightly more experienced as a medium at this point and continuing the tag team mechanic from the previous game Joey has even more to contribute to the gameplay making him feel more like a co-protagonist instead of a support NPC. The story is also now picking up momentum with consequences of events from the previous games. Continue the journey of two spunky supernatural detectives. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2755598113
