  I can understand wanting to give your Kickstarters a reward but this is more than that, WAY more. You're asking for $4 more for a selection of content that changes the way the game plays in a pretty significant way. This isn't a matter of rewarding backers. If you wanted to give backers something special there are much better ways you could have gone about it. But cutting out things that legitimately change the way the game plays and gives you new approaches is a disgusting move. Look at how other Kickstarted games have rewarded backers. Skins, names in-game, other cosmetic frills. That is what you use as a backer reward, not game content that is ready on release day. If these DLC vehicles were just new coats of paint on the exisiting ones then it would be fine, but they aren't. This is day one DLC price gouging, plain and simple. So for that reason alone I'm refunding, I didn't even notice the gouging until I had bought the game. You folks can make fun of people for being poor all you want but that doesn't change the situation.

  After about an hour into the game I relized that the DLC is almost required for heavy call loads. The time reductions and tools/equipment you give to your staff really help them get calls/reports done. So far, in love with the game. GG

  See my larger review of the game for the longer version of this. I'm a 911 dispatcher. I don't decide who gets hired, what equipment they're certified to carry or how many people ride in a vehicle. That is all either above my paygrade or decided by the officer/EMT/Fireman. It's not that I think the DLC is overpriced or essential to completing the game. (It's not, and I don't know if it is) It's that it is completely unrealistic for me to assign GUN A to officer B and DOG A and Body Armor B to his partner. This stuff should be decided by an algorithm in the game. Dispatchers assign who is best suitable to call based on their attributes (Canine unit, speaks Chinese, driving a tact van) and on their availability and distance to the call at the time. Also, what firetruck carries firemen without firegear? What Cop doesn't have a gun and what ambulance doesn't have at least a first aid kit aboard?

  Day one DLC?! *Edit: The price of the game, plus the DLC = release price with out the sale. If they had not made the DLC Seperate and just charged the normal price for the game instead of putting it on sale like they did, people would not be complaining about it. However, the way they did it appeases the people who MADE the game possible. I'm refering to the kickstarters. That's the battle cry of a lot of gamers at the moment. While I normally would heartily agree with that cry, this is one time where I do not. Now the reason I do not whine or complain about there being day one DLC is the fact that at the time of writing this review the base game is on sale. Adding the DLC into the game at the moment means that you end up paying "full price" for the game, but add in a bunch of new content. The DLC itself includes lots of new equipment, a few new vehicles, new calls and variations. It's certainly a bargain for the price that they are asking. Basically, yeah it's a crappy practice to have day one DLC, but in this case I think it's a good thing. This content pack was originally a kickstarter backer reward, which with most games like that you do not get a chance to get that content unless you were a kickstarter. TLDR: Good content for cheep, kickstarter reward available to all, adds in better abilities to handle big situations.

  There is nothing wrong with this content, but it should have been part of the base game. Just sell it all as one game and put up the price, at least that way people know what they're in for. The problem is that you do need this DLC, especially later in the game. The reason why people get upset about this is because of a fundamental difference in types of DLC. One is something cool that is added after to enhance gameplay. The other is something that is part of the core gameplay, that is removed or held back before launch. This is the latter, and as a result the base game doesn't stand on it's own. My only issue is that it could potentially be misleading to new players. It's kind of like getting a mobile phone contract and they tell you the price is x, but after you sign they tell you that you need to pay y and z as well for stuff that should have been part of the base package (like caller ID) :P

  Three main problems with this DLC: 1. It was released on day one instead of being in the base game itself (and it should've been there, these features are essential for a game like that). 2. It breaks the player progression because you get all the cool stuff from the get go instead of unlocking it like the rest of the items/vehicles. 3. It costs too much for what's included (all they did is took existing items, changed their icons and adjusted the stats, not an awful lot of work now is it?). Just read through the description of the DLC. How come a base game doesn't have any fire-fighting equipment whatsoever? No tazers? No police dogs? Ah, that's right, you have to pay extra to unlock it. This DLC truly deserves a downvote, it is an anti-consumer move that the developer has taken and saying "but we are indie..." is not a valid excuse. Should you get it though? The game feels incomplete without it, so probably you should... on the other hand, these items and vehicles don't really add much of gameplay value since they are [u]mostly[/u] just reskins/tweaks of items you already have. New missions? Couldn't care less, from what I've seen it's just a few more description texts (not new voice calls), And yes, I know this content was intended for Kickstarter backers only. I don't see how this was a good idea in the first place and how it changes anything now. They were so eager to get their project to the funding goal they made this decision and now they decided "why not cash in on it even more?" so here we have it.

  This was a perk for donating to the Kickstarter campaing, so that's why it's a DLC. I don't mind paying a little bit for the extra resources.
