While there a many negative reviews, I would implore people to give this game a chance, if they can deal with the poor (but almost charming) translation. The gameplay is engrossing, the world-building & lore is interesting, there's tons to do, and the free-form exploration is very fun and addictive. I've had a few bugs but nothing game-breaking. For less than $20 this game more than worth it, with 40+ hours of content. Give it a try!

Awesome wuxia game. Worst translation ever. (though I'll take bad translation to no translation anyday)

enjoyable experience compared to first game: PROs: -better art (the first game character art was a bit "realistic") -party system where you can manage your team member and their skills instead of just one character like in first game -free roaming -music keeps getting better (as good as first game) -no time system CONs: -no custom character -it changed from roleplaying to more JRPG style where you train by winning battles. -a lot of bugs and i start to suspect they wont fix them... Loyalty decreased by 10.. -no general description to skill manual you obtained. Gotta save before using them to see their attributes. still playing the game midway, but there is no ROMANCE probably..... Im starting to lean toward "not recommended"

I bought this game mainly because I both thoroughly enjoyed the first game (Tale of Wuxia the Not presequel) as well as a general interest in supporting the emerging Chinese game market. The translation is kinda shoddy and Im being generous here, but it's by no means incomprehensible However, there are 2 major roadblocks that will thoroughly dampen any enjoyment of this game. 1) Bugs.Literally everywhere. What is this,1995 ? I wouldnt say its unplayable as I haven't experienced any hardcrashes myself but the resolution couldnt be changed on the first day without a hotfix and the fact that everybody has the same description when you right click on them is hardly encouraging.I assume that there will be plenty more as I continue playing like an entomologist's wet dream. 2) The devs have remained mum on support for the english ver of the first game which has stagnated at 1.0.2.6 while the Chinese version is at 1.0.3.1 despite promises to support the english ver. Then, suddenly this new game pops up and yaaaaaaay more Wuxia. This is just poor practice and shady as all heck, pardon my chinese poetry. In short,i heartily recommend to NOT get this game until the bugs have been patched out to a reasonable extent. However,i would recommend getting the first game if you are like me and enjoy the allure of Chinese waifus. TLDR: This game is unfinished and the devs are gonna release patches like hotcakes.Get it then if you want.

Beautiful game infused with Wuxia culture, a type of eastern medieval fantasy setting (think Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon). Good story with quirky humor reminiscent of the Divinity series, though some of it is lost in translation. Turn based hex combat with an emphasis on interactions between characters. Tons of side quests and interesting locations to explore. I'm surprised this game is so negatively rated. There are apparently some day 0 issues, but I've played 17 hours and ran into one bug, and developers have been actively engaged and are providing daily updates. Much of the negativity seems to come from China, with two main complaints: 1) this game has been released and stable in China for a year, and 2) it's apparently slightly more expensive on Steam. I'm simply glad the developers have brought this game on Steam for more to enjoy. Update: As of 8/20, may of the day 0 bugs have been fixed. It's very playable and more importantly, lots of fun.

Classic wuxia game, with many varieties of skills to learn. Highly recommended for fans of the Jin Yong series. 50 plus hours into the game and no bug encountered so dont believe what most of the earlier reviews said about game crashing bugs. Almost all of it are fixed by now. Go ahead, buy and support this game, so that there will be a third instalment to the franchise!! Cant wait to try that out. P.S This was based on the chinese version, not the English translated version.

Like the first game, this takes place in the world of Wuxia loosely tied to the Jingyong classics. This time however, it's a proper open RPG unlike the time management, training styled first game. There are no time limits this time round, and you're free to explore, farm and progress at your own leisure. The game takes place few years before the first game. You'll revisit the characters and locations that you know in the first game and more. This time round you have numerous characters and party members you can use, each with their own styles and skills, and can have up to 9 characters to have in your party. There's no hand-holding like in the first game, you'll have to explore and discover things for yourself. A huge selection of Internal Styles and martial skills are available. Some are found as you progress through the game, finishing sidequests and through less obvious methods waiting for you to discover. The plot is good enough. The fights are really epic and challenging. The sidequests are interesting and diverse. Characters are well-fleshed out and likeable. Music is good and the martial moves are flashy. Character animation is top-notch. The English translation is terrible but adequate enough to make out the story. The free DLC adds more recruitable characters and a extra story mode that's fun too. All in all, a really good RPG and can't wait for more of Wuxia games by Heluo Studios!

Most of the people who review this have major biased opinions, the game is poorly translated almost unreadable. The "tutorial" is garbage because it doesnt tell you everything you need to know at all, the character development story wise is sub par. So please take it from me DO NOT buy this game if you are looking for another CRPG with unique features. It seemed like a good idea but it was executed badly compared to the first Tale of Wuxia (which is an amazing game compared to this one). I feel like they should have just made a sequel to Tale of Wuxia instead of a prequel because honestly having the same old characters that were a bit annoying in the last game doesn't seem to be a good idea. Gu is awesome, Ji is a butt same old stuff different day. Mechanics: (Done too many times before nothing new) 4/10 Story: (Same concept and characters maybe a few new additions) 6/10 Gameplay: (Lack of information for tutorial, lack of hints, difficulty too high for beginners) 5/10 Optimization:(Decent, no lag or crashes so far) 8/10 Music/Atmosphere: (Great as always) 9/10 Translations: (The English is terrible and almost unreadable) 3/10 Customizations: (Boring and clunky, not much freedom) 3/10 Final Thoughts: I love CRPG games when the freedom of a unique character customization is implemented, your own story and your own choices. People love that type of game or atleast I know most people I see do enjoy them that way, when you take that away because you want to build a story off of characters you just decided to throw in again doesn't make it unique. The party system doesn't change the fact that you took away one of the more funner parts of Tale of Wuxia, I feel as if this style of top down gameplay works best with the choose your own adventure style. In all averaging the scores this really comes out to be about a 4/10 game in my opinion without bias fangirling and just playing the game for myself. My opinion may change later on but this is how I feel currently. (Keep in mind you make the decision to buy the game not me, so if you feel you will like it buy it.)

I am a big fan of Wuxia and I was growing up in the culture of "Gum Yoong", who is the most famous Chinese wuxia novelist and has influenced two generations for half a decade. This game has very rich content (probably 30+ hours) and has entailed the spirit of "Xia". There are some flaws in the game design but definitely highly recommend if you enjoy an RPG game that is not just about combat.
