  I feel so apologetic for not recommending this game. I appreciate the overall aesthetics of the game, and the items that represent childhood and friendship... but it is completely boring and pretty much empty. The puzzles are simple and easy, Though I find it cute with the idea of backwards and forwards gameplay, it was not enough to keep me entertained, not at all exciting. To be honest, I might be hooked in this game if i'm younger, like 8 years old. I thought atleast the story would be deep but I saw and felt nothing. I played some more to give it a chance because I'm hoping to have awaken nostalgic emotions (and maybe the story could be open to interpretation), but there are no dialogue so even trying to connect the dots with the images seen seem lazy and did not help in understanding the story or the flow of the game. I'm sorry, but it isn't for me. T^T

  2+ hours to complete, The Gardens Between is a memorable puzzle adventure game about Arina and Frendt; two childhood friends. Explore about 20 islands created by their childhood memories together, from when they first met to some rather fantastic adventures. The goal is to carry a lantern to the end of the islands, with Arina having the ability to carry and use the lantern to dispel fog, and Frendt being able to clear the way of obstacles by moving them forwards or backwards in time. A very charming experience and well deserving of its reviews, The Gardens Between is an easy game to love and an even easier game to recommend.

  The Gardens Between is a beautiful game about friends and memories with them. A slight flashback and a hit of nostalgia with a simple visual, a wholesome experience and a small tear remembering old days is what you can expect from this small but sweet game called The Gardens Within. :)

  The Gardens Between is a solid, low-key, puzzle game with great music and it will hit you in the feels by the time you finish it. I'm not sure how I came across it, I think it was part of a bundle, but it's the type of game that you won't forget. With similar puzzle elements ranging from Braid to Monument Valley and more, their own atmospheric art style, and incredibly complimentary music, The Gardens Between is familiar but distinct enough that you will enjoy escaping into a whole new world. I hope that you enjoy it as I did.

  I wanted to like this game, but the rotation mechanism triggered motion sickness, and I couldn't play. If you're predisposed to getting motion sick from certain movies or games, avoid this one. I really wish Steam allowed neutral reviews!

  Story: Mostly unappealing, although the ending is somewhat better. The story is presented with pure "Show, don't tell" where you interpret it based on environment and Arina/Frendt action. Gameplay: Overall the gameplay is great and has tons of unique modification for 1.5-3 hours of gameplay. However, there are few puzzles (such as puzzle which involve moon) which can't be solved without thinking out of the box and few puzzle contain element which isn't needed to solve the puzzle. Graphic: Amazing eye catching visual which emphasize the world/story. Although the animation could be better. Sound: Mediocre/nothing special. Technical issue: None. In addition, the native Linux version works without any problem. The Gardens Between offer superb visual and gameplay. But considering weak story/soundtrack and short gameplay duration, fan of puzzle game should wait for sale/discount. Those who're looking for emotional/story-rich game should seek different game.
