  As much as I like this game, I seriously can't give it a recommendation in good conscience. I've been playing it for a decent while so I'm at a satisfactory point, so why am I saying I don't recommend the game? Easy. This is probably the most unfriendly game towards newer players that I've ever seen. First and foremost, playing with randoms here is a nightmare. They're usually not very welcoming people, usually very toxic, and are mostly only going to want to join lobbies for EXP grinding, which takes a long time by the way, so that option's out the window. What if they want to play with friends that have been playing for some time? Well too bad, should've joined them at the same time they started playing, because you're going to be severely under equipped while your friends painfully outclass you and destroy you every game. Sure, there's single player content to help with leveling a little bit, but it doesn't get you too far, and after that leveling is only possible in multiplayer. Newer players simply have zero chance that it's not even funny. If they want to catch up, then just waste a massive chunk of your life grinding in multiplayer, easy right? I might be at a point where the game is fun to play on my end, but this game is simply way too unfun for newer players because the weapon balancing between early level and late level weapons is absolutely busted in favor of the late level players, not to mention tank upgrades.

  I am a 45 yo father, probably one of the oldest people playing this game. I am a single farther to my son, who is 12 now. My son got this game for Christmas in 2020 from his uncle, so we installed it on his computer and he started playing. By the end of the week he had 18 hours on this game. This was horrible for me, as it was already hard for me to find ways to spend time with my son, as he is always out with his friends or just watching YouTube. So I decided to make a Steam account and get this game to see if I could maybe play alongside him. I loaded into the game, picked my character and started playing but I was stuck on what you were supposed to do. I asked my son for help and he hosted a game for me to join. I loved it as it was the best time I had spent with my son since my wife had died. This game has ever since brought me and my son closer again and now we actually spend time together outside the house together as well. This game reminded me that there's fun to be had in everything, and it has brought both me and my son many happy memories.

  I used to play this game years ago. I enjoyed playing it. Not a demanding game but has plenty of fun and a friendly and competitive player base.

  I do not know how it is for others but as a beginner there are hardly any lobbies within my level-range. And the hosts of the very few lobbys that are within my level range kick me as soon as I enter....

  These are 671.7 hours that I won't ever see again Jokes aside, I highly discourage you from playing this game unless you're just like me. A child who had seen his favorite YouTubers post videos frequently and really wished for the chance to play with them (never happened). Regardless, I used to frequently play this game daily and pretty much got to the point I am comfortable writing this review. Shellshock Live is a game in which your success is highly determined by the numbers of your display. If your friends or randos you meet drastically overlevel you, you practically have zero chances of overpowering them unless one or more of the following happen(s): 1. The high level is in the middle of a lobotomy and cannot aim for you 2. You have astronomical levels of luck 3. The high level has gone easy on you 4. The high level just had to leave the game If that doesn't happen, get ready to be whooped. As a high level player, low level players will kick you out their lobby for daring to join. As a low level player, high level players will crush you while openly mocking your shortness of good weapons and experience (lord forbid you don't play this game as often or as hardcore as they do). Of course, a decent chunk of the playerbase is cool. The other chunk, however, makes people like you and me reconsider the First Amendment. The game itself is fine, but it lacks heavily in some aspects: 1. The games Skill Rating system is entirely style, no substance. You have a number that goes higher when you win and lower when you lose and that is it. There's no considerations for any skill shots or displays of high damage, no consideration of the gamemode and no consideration of whether you've used up any items or not. 2. The entirety of the Shoccer gamemode is extremely poor and makes me question whether it wasn't just added because the devs just enjoy the IRL sport. One good example of this modes shortcoming is that shots programmed to go for the tank will do just that, contradicting the gamemode's goal of hitting that stupid ball that behaves as appropriately as the current Twitter CEO 3. Shoccer sucks, seriously. I've not met a single player who wasn't playing it for the achievement 4. The chatbox on the main menu is littered with absolute garbage, most of the time. That said, this game has some redeeming qualities: 1. Many of the weapons are fun to use and look good 2. Your Rebound shots can be a display of the fact you can do more than the players who stick to 100 86 in Deathmatches as if their life was actually on the line 3. The music is really pleasant to listen to 4. More stuff that you might appreciate that I simply don't bother to count up Thank you for reading this far, I guess
