Having covered that, let's now move on to the second most important aspect - ‘to pay or not to pay.’

Your gameplay style (Free to Play or Paying a Premium) will also determine how successful you will be in the game. If you're willing to spend money, there are numerous packs available that will provide long-term benefits. However, if you're looking to play for free, you must have realistic expectations. As someone who has played Vikingard since day one, I can say with confidence that it will be challenging to reach rank 1 without spending money. But, don't let that discourage you - you can still have an enjoyable experience and place within the top 50 to 100 players on the server with some dedication and strategic investments.

One crucial aspect is to be mindful of how you spend your premium currency, Gold. Avoid spending it frivolously on unnecessary items and invest it wisely in things that will benefit you in the long run. Though it may be tempting to buy a new Pet or Companion, it's better to spend your Gold on items you need to progress.

Tips for Vikingard

Tip #1: Concentrate on a single Hersir first.

During the initial stages of the game, which can be completed in one sitting, it's crucial to have a powerful Hersir to lead your troops. Don't worry about which one you have, just upgrade the free one as much as possible. Upgrading your Hersirs isn't a waste of resources; in fact, it's essential to have a strong team. Once you unlock more Hersirs, upgrade them equally, and complete the quests that require Hersir upgrades. This way, you'll be prepared for future challenges.

Tip #2: Farm Hersis

Althing, the Norse equivalent of a parliament, is not just a political concept in Vikingard. It's also a place where you can farm for new Hersirs to join your cause. By upgrading your existing Hersirs and using them to battle bosses, you can unlock these new characters and add them to your roster. However, be prepared for increasingly challenging encounters as you progress.

In addition to farming, Althing also offers a daily Quiz that rewards you with additional loot. And don't forget to check the Achievement -> Social section, where you might stumble upon some hidden achievements. These achievements are random and come with better rewards, such as larger amounts of Gold, and even better, you can show off to your friends if you complete them before they do.

Tip #3: What to Buy

If you're a player who is considering spending some money on Vikingard, there are some premium packs that you might want to check out. These packs offer amazing rewards, and there are two that are particularly noteworthy: the Might Fund and the Conquest Fund. Both of these packs come at the same price and offer similar rewards, including Gold, special items, and exclusive packs. The Might Fund requires you to reach 4M Might, while the Conquest Fund requires you to pass 163 Conquest stages. Once you purchase these packs, you'll need to work towards completing the rewards. These are one-time-only purchases, so make sure to take advantage of them while they're available!

However, some of these packs might not be worth your money, as they don't offer much value. Make sure to read the descriptions carefully and evaluate whether the rewards are worth the price. In general, packs that offer exclusive Companions or rare items might be more valuable than those that offer only basic resources. Tip #4: Upgrade Hersirs

Rounding back to Hersirs: At the beginning of the game, you will only have a few green and blue Hersirs (and maybe a purple one if you're lucky). Therefore, it's best to start by upgrading the ones that have the most benefits - for me, it was Hervor. Leveling up your heroes requires Food, Gold, Ingots, and Snake Fangs to boost their Aptitude level. It's recommended to focus on just two Hersirs and maximize their potential. The other Hersirs can be leveled up but not to the extent of the two main ones. Weapon and Aptitude are crucial, and acquiring the resources to improve them can be difficult in the later stages of the game. Additionally, it's important to note that heroes can be upgraded to a higher rank. So, if you concentrate on a couple of Hersirs, it's easier to upgrade them to a higher rank.

Tip #5: Expedite

Expeditions are a fast and enjoyable way to acquire Companions and resources. By rolling the dice and moving the number of tiles indicated, you can have a variety of encounters with NPCs, find special areas around the Sea that contain fantastic treasures, and meet new Companions. It's a fun process that can lead to some exciting and unique experiences.

You can roll the dice multiple times a day, as one roll refills every 30 minutes. If you want more control over where you land, the Designated Sailing option (Golden dice) is a premium option worth considering. However, keep in mind that you can only store up to 15 free Random Sailing attempts. So, make sure to use them frequently to avoid losing any potential attempts.

Tip #6: Work the Mines

After unlocking the Mines, you can farm Gold to keep you going as a free-to-play player. Although the amount of Gold you can obtain isn't significant, it's helpful alongside completing quests. Deploy Hersirs to work at the Mines as often as possible, and seize every opportunity to open the Mine Ruins and claim an item of your choice.

Four items can be claimed from the Mine Ruins, one of which is usually Gold. Choose one item to keep for yourself and share the rest with your closest friends and Alliance members. They can also invite you to share some of their loot when they open their Mine Ruins for free.

It's a good idea to befriend a few players to discuss which items everyone prefers and help each other out. This can be quite profitable in the long run.

When working at the Mines, you may encounter wild Wolves that you'll have to battle to obtain better resources and items. To avoid losing the battle, ensure your Hersirs are strong and upgraded with equipment and levels. Wolves can be tough opponents, so it's crucial to be well-prepared.

Tip #7: Do some Quests

Vikingard is jam-packed with a plethora of exciting events that cater to all kinds of players. Whether you're a new player or a returning one, or even someone who frequently engages with the game's social media channels, you're sure to find an event that fits your interests. Be sure to check them out regularly as you might be able to snag some exclusive gift codes and resources that can boost your progress.

You can easily spot the event icons on either side of your screen. In my opinion, Father's Legacy quests are a must-do as they provide you with valuable rewards such as Drott (Hersir) and Runhild (Companion), and a free Quiz Chest (with 5 Lucky Vouchers) once you reach 2M Might. Keep in mind that some events are designed specifically for premium players. So if you're planning to spend some money on the game, you'll have access to even more exclusive content.

Tip #8: Check out the Mysterious Store

At the Mysterious Store, you can use your Lucky Vouchers to open chests that contain fantastic rewards like Snake Fang, Belly Chain, Gold, and EXP, as well as the highly coveted Lucky Gem. You can use this gem to exchange for premium Hersirs or Companions.

It's best to save up nine Lucky Vouchers to summon 10x (one free). Summoning one by one isn't worth it because the rates are similar, and 10x summoning gives you an extra try for free, which can be beneficial in the long run. Additionally, there's a guaranteed Lucky Gem after 200 summons for those who are unlucky.
