While the store page showcases only 2 maps there are actually 4. Each is different and they give you the option to fight enemies wave after wave. There are 15 waves, overall, and they are getting gradually more difficult along the way. You collect coins by looting fallen enemies and completing these waves. The hub area is a museum where you can spend your hard-earned cash to fill a museum hall with concept arts, models of the game's characters and some kinetoscopes showing you making-of videos and some other funny footage. Back to the waves: between them you can gear up. However, the gears are actually missing, at first, but you get them along the way together with the infusion upgrades. Also, you need to purchase most of the vigors and their upgrades - while all the weapons are available they are missing their upgrades, too. So, you'll spend some time to max out everything. In addition to this each wave offers a challenge. For example: a) eliminate all enemies but start with the Handy Man b) use only the impulsion vigor to dispatch your foes c) complete the wave under 1 minute. You'll spend some time with this DLC if you wish to complete all criteria during all 60 waves. I say this is a good DLC. A great pastime if you've completed the game and its story-driven DLCs many times already.

Clash in the Clouds is all about fighting waves of enemies in a set of arenas, competing on leaderboards to see who is the best at getting creative with everything available in Bioshock Infinite. Money acquired from arenas can be used to unlock concept art and a few extras. If this was included with the main game for free it would be okay, but since we're being asked to pay for stuff that has nothing to do with the best parts of the game (hint: it's not the combat), I can't recommend this.

There are devilish tasks you must do to earn sixty ribbons of blue; For with bird or with cage, they'll all make you rage - try playing, and you'll find this is true.

To everyone who said that the combat in this game is shallow, you coudn't be more wrong. Not only does this mode show you that the approaches you can take to a combat situation is much larger than one originally thought, and aside from being incredibly fun with near endless replayability, it actually made me approach the main game with a different state of mind, which made me enjoy it a hell of a lot more.

I found myself enjoying the different challenges in Clash in the Clouds my first time playing through. It was nice using guns and vigors I hadn’t used much during the main game. What I found to be agonizingly tedious was the blue-ribbon challenges. Getting a blue-ribbon is rewarding but missing one on wave 14 means you must play all the waves leading up to wave 14 over again. I would have preferred being able to pick the wave you want to play so that you could try different strategies without having to replay everything before it. Did I enjoy my first run through each of the four maps? Yes. Did I enjoy playing through all four maps 4-6 times a piece? No. By the time I completed the last blue-ribbon I was tired of Bioshock and all my positive feelings about the game were bordering on anger.

While there is no plot or story line in this DLC, there are reasons why you may want to pick this title up. Firstly, it gives you a place to hone your skills without advancing the story line. "Why would that matter," you may well ask? Getting killed and being moved to a "safe" spot is one of the top causes of missing loot, and if that's not enough, every time you die you lose some of your money and (if you're not equipped to prevent it) some of your health and vigor too. Being well practiced is the best way bar none to reduce the number of deaths you suffer. As the saying goes, practice makes perfect... well... maybe not perfect, but a fine sight better than not practicing. I think. Well, if not, then you gave it a good go and that has to count for something, right? No? Well bugger all! I was just trying to be helpful! Okay, now that I've had some time to regain my composure, I will attempt to provide another reason why this DLC is worth picking up. For the completionist, this is an important DLC in that it can help you pick up some of those "Kill X number of a given type of enemy using only one specific type of attack" achievements. It also adds a few more to further increase your bragging rights. To round things out there is some content which you can use for a sort of self-challenge, such as saving up enough silver eagles to buy all the concept art and/or all of the old phonograph recordings and/or all of the kinetoscope shows available at the Columbia Archeological Society. Another feature of the game is a leader board (as opposed to a lieder board, which is altogether more musical), where you can compare your accomplishments (or lack thereof) either to other people on your friends list, or against all the players of the DLC on Steam. If you find yourself at the bottom of your friends list and need to repair your ego, you can always send me a friends request so you no longer have to be at the bottom of the tip any longer. I should note, however, that I do not accept requests from people TOS violations or VAC bans, from people who have all their info hidden, or from level 2 or lower accounts. It's an issue of safety, not an attempt to play favourites. Finally, I seriously recommend that if you have no other DLC for BioShock Infinite that you acquire it as part of the season pass package if you can afford it. The Season pass offers better value for money compared to buying each of the DLC titles individually, and in my opinion all the DLC have enough content to make them worth the outlay, even if you have to wait for a sale. Here's wishing you good gaming! -Katherine

Was on the fence about recommending this due to the fact it's 99% just arena combat challenges, but the combat scenarios are fun and the DLC includes a great art museum with unlockable models/dev art as well as several new voxophone recordings that expand the Lutece backstory. Downside: This has some fairly obnoxious achievements in the form of having to complete 4x15 sets of "Blue Ribbon Challenges" where if you, for example, screw up the blue ribbon on the 14th wave, you have to redo waves 1-13 before you can attempt it again. Add onto that that you can get screwed out of credit for some of the challenges if they enemies accidentally shoot each other (which they do... a lot) and it gets frustrating if you care about completion. Still worth it, just be warned.

One fight pits you against one Patriot and two Handymen at the same time. Blue Ribbon Challenge: use a different Vigor to kill each enemy. That's when I called it quits.

HARD AVOID. Even if you got this basically for free in the collection or season pass or whatever, don't take it seriously. Like, I'm not recommending you do it WINK WINK but just use Cheat Engine and give yourself all the money to unlock stuff in the museum, which is locked behind THIS game mode for some reason. If you really want to know how bad Bioshock Infinite really is to play, this is where you'll learn. It's miserable. The blue ribbon stuff is such a slog. Each level has fifteen waves, and each wave has a special arbitrary challenge that you can fail for any reason. Seriously, it's completely out of your control half of the time. Like, "do something where the enemies will fail by shooting each other or falling off the map" kinds of deliberately OUT OF YOUR CONTROL. Bad luck? Bad design? Bad game? Oh well! Do all the waves before the one you failed for a SINGLE CHANCE to do it again. I mean, if they broke it up into three sets of five waves for each arena, then maybe it would be a little tolerable?? But nooo then they're doing what Bioshock 2 did and everyone has something against that game for some reason. This isn't even like a base defense like the Protector Trials, it's just straight up wave fights that hinge on adequate gameplay that doesn't exist.

An otherwise decent expansion ruined by obnoxious voice-overs, tedious luck based challenges and a system that forces you to grind for hours if you want the achievements. But perhaps most egregious is the inability to replay specific challenges instead of having to do ALL of them in order to get to the one you need. Beyond infuriating.
