Utilization of this important resource is largely dependent on proper planning. Therefore, it has become necessary to ensure fair and optimal use of these limited natural resources through an up-to-date planning and policy. For this purpose, the land use policy has already been enacted by the Ministry of Land.

Land Records and Survey Directorate, Land Reforms Board, Land Appeal Board, Land Administration Training Center and Comptroller of Accounts (Revenue) Department are currently working under the Ministry of Lands to provide all land related services to the people. Besides, commissioners at divisional level, collectors at district level (district administrators), assistant commissioners (land) at upazila level, union land assistant officers (tahsildars) at union level are engaged in providing land related services. The Ministry of Land is working on land development tax and revenue collection, special land management and settlement, watershed management, land acquisition and possession, land record preparation and surveying and training of land related officials/employees etc.
