I think that this game is very promising and its heading in the right direction. However, the price tag is actually stupid for it being in pre-alpha and having quite literally nothing to do. Quests cannot be completed as there are no NPCs to talk to. The dragons look good, but the environment looks terrible. There is no tutorial, so you are stuck figuring out everything yourself and it gets extremely frustrating as you gradually realize there isn't even a point to the game yet. I paid 40$ CAD for a game that has no substance at all. I hope the devs realize this is a huge issue and they lower the pre-alpha price. The full, completed game, can have a price tag of 40$, I see that being possible, but this game is VERY far from completion and I wouldn't even pay 20$ CAD for what state the game is currently in. I would refund the product for my money back, but I want to see the direction this game is going in. If I didn't have as much interest as I do in this game, I would have refunded it immediately.

Gonna be frank. Starting with the cons because warnings are in order. In the current early access state of the game, roleplay is it's main form of traffic and the best way to entertain yourself. Recently, a character limit was enforced, which drove the roleplayers away quickly, leaving servers dead and dry for the most part. There is no game lore, there is no serious task system, leveling up requires zero effort, and once you explore the map and take cool pictures with your lovely dragons, it's.. boring. Is there promise? Sure, maybe, but given the past abandoned projects of the developer/s, you never know. It's all sunshine and rainbows when you make your first dragon and log in, and the community seems super helpful and, for the most part, is.. at first. The longer you stay, the deeper you go, the more you realize that some of it is a facade. Petty drama around every corner by the players, cliques, harassment, two-faced people who act friendly but will turn on you in seconds if you don't agree with everything they say. What do the moderators/admins tell you to do in response to what you may be dealing with? "Sorry, can't help you, just block/mute". That only goes so far when an entire group is targeting you or someone you know. Definitely don't recommend this game for children. No chat filters for those under 18, predatory folk or people who make extremely explicit jokes are only banned if an admin is on while it's happening. If you're a male adult, I don't recommend this game either, because a favored retaliation method among players is accusing people (males) of acts like p*dophilia, with either entirely fabricated, out of context, or literally just non-existent evidence. It happened twice to people I know in the community. ..Then again, servers are empty anyway. This is just my experience over the past few months, 200hrs of gameplay later. What do I know? Maybe some pros will convince you to buy this game, if you haven't already scrolled away. :) The graphics are great, the mechanics are pretty easy to master, and there are no serious consequences for your character dying. PvP is rough at best, but that's not why people really get this game.. if at all, anymore. Making your own dragons is fun, you get to play around with fun patterns and.. that's about it. I'll probably only stick around to check out the game's progress and pop in now and then, personally. TL/DR: Not worth it until admins do their jobs and the game gets more content.

Because some of the reviews actually made me facepalm, here'smy salt. This game is still a PRE-ALPHA. It released ~8 MONTHS ago. It is not finished, but will be some day ffs. So here's my view: I got the game shortly after it's Steam release, and trust me when I tell you the Devs are doing amazing work with the rescources they got. Draconia is an indi game with a very small team, not a AAA title backed by a known publisher. Considering that, they're working at an incredible speed with fantastic results; during the time of first release and now we not only got another playable dragon implemented (eastern noodle), but an entirely new map, as well as first quests. When problems occure the team is fast at handling them, transparent in communication with the community via Discord, and listens to complaints/improvement. If you don't like the price atm that's ok, some people have high expectations even from fairly new pre-alphas, but please stop comparing an in-progress game to a finished one. It's childish.

Wait, how much did I just pay for this again? Oh lord. It's always telling when 90% of the "Recommended" reviews don't actually say the game is good, but talk about "what may come". "I recommend this game because i like dragons and it might be a good game some day." Mmmk "The devs are really going to make a great game eventually, there's so much potential even if there's nothing to do right now" Sooo...like, probably not a good time to be mashing that thumbs up on Steam Reviews? The character models look and animate pretty damn well, and the flying controls are at least better than Ark:SE....so there's that. Beyond the dragon dudes looking cool and flying being pretty good - there's nothing here. There's DEFINITELY not $35 here. The map is BARREN. I remember when Day of Dragons was getting savaged online I almost caved and bought it because I kept thinking "it can't actually be THIS bad can it?" So literally years later Draconia has plenty of "don't do what he did" to reference, and they still drop a totally empty world on Steam. Why did this need to leave Patreon again? Oh right, money. As for things to do? You can fly around. You can chomp items to loot them and level up. And you can find carcasses on the ground to nomnomnom. That seems to be it, oh right, you can LARP around the village with all the other dragon lovers. I guess that's neat. I've never understood the weird social "wanna chill and like talk to each other" meta-game that games like The Isle, Path of Titans, Beasts of Bermuda, Draconia, etc seems to cultivate, but I guess it must be a popular activity in this genre, and that's good because its really all there is to do. My advice to the devs would be : Open this game up to workshop mods immediately. The map is absolutely terrible and some community modder would make you a much nicer map before you even know it. Add in AI, if they're already there you fooled me cause I didn't see a damn thing. Oh right, the night time sucks. Why the ever living hell do developers keep going "people love not seeing a damn thing, thats so hot right now." I won't lie, I was 30% salty and 70% confused on why the devs weren't giving out keys for content creators except to their little click of fan creators (to be fair I asked to buy a few for my community to give out and spend some time with the game so I could be properly informed at launch) - now I know why they wouldn't give any out - they already knew I wouldn't need days to go over this game. You can pretty much see all the meat on this game's bone welllllllllllllllllllllllll within the 2 hour refund window, especially if you don't waste time getting lost in the character dragon creator screen. This game isn't worth $15 right now, that the devs are asking $35 is insanity.

My issue is the price tag. 34 for dollars for EARLY ALPHA. It should be at least 20 or 15 dollars and then the pay should be raised when the game is done. Right now there nothing to do. Collect some bones and level up. Ai is worst then the Isle. Hunger and food goes down way to quickly to explore the map as a baby. Ya'll should have stay in close alpha and add more things. I do not recommend game to anyone as of yet.

Steam needs to add a neutral rating for games like this. The only reason to buy this is to support the devs in making this game. I don't want to give it a bad rating because it needs support. If you want a game with anything to do right now don't buy it and wait for more content.

Some time last year I told myself that after 1k hours I would write a real, longer than one sentence, in depth, non-joke review for this game and now here I am doing just that! The game in its current state is pretty bare bones, but it has a really solid foundation and has been getting updated regularly since I started playing. Of course it's still entirely possible that the project gets abandoned before full release, but the devs seem quite passionate about this and I would be extremely surprised if it was dropped any time soon They seem to be going for a creature survival meets more traditional MMO type of game, which is basically a dream come true for me and many others, but the game as it is now (in pre-alpha) falls more into the category of a social sim. If you're a social butterfly then you're in luck as the game has a fairly small but amazing and very friendly community, if you aren't much for chatting then you might find yourself running out of things to do fairly quickly Once you reach max level on a character you have a few options on what to do next. There are those who spend most of their time in the character creator, posting the codes for their designs on the discord, some people hoard tons of rare items, and others are just there to talk and help new players, I'd say most regulars are a combination of all of the above. PVP and RP have kinda come and gone over time depending on who the current active players are and what they're into Let's go over some pros and cons Pros: - The game is beautiful, especially the weather, day/night cycle, and lighting aspects of it - character creator and photo mode are both detailed enough that you can get some amazing stuff out of them yet simple enough that they don't feel overwhelming - There's a good amount of variety in the creatures you can play as and the roster continues to expand - As mentioned before the community is wonderful and I've made many great friends here - Great game to play while doing something else or when you want something simple and relaxing Cons: - Leveling up a character can be tedious due to basic quests that just require a bunch of grinding, but thankfully there isn't the risk of losing your character or levels on death - The player count fluctuates a lot depending on factors like how recently there was an update, day of the week, time of day, is the game on sale etc, but it can occasionally drop to 0 players online - It's early in development so bugs are expected, honestly a lot of them are pretty funny and add to the experience, but there are also those that can be annoying for sure - The price is pretty steep for how much content there is, obviously I've gotten my money's worth out of it but that won't be the case for everyone I REALLY DO HOPE that this game continues to grow and evolve with time, I have countless memories here, so many great moments! some just between friends and others from events remembered by anyone who was playing during a specific time period. The game is nowhere near done yet and still needs a lot of work put into it, but I am cautiously optimistic for the future of this project and plan to continue playing regularly

not worth $34.00. I'd check back in a year or two. edit: it's been over a year, still not worth the price. it's by no means abandoned or dead, but due to the devs experience progress is slow. I'd keep an eye on it though because it has a lot of potential.

Do not buy this game. Devs are not only slow to provide updates and any semblance of transparency as to what they've been working towards, but they are also entirely incompetent with managing their community and ensuring that everyone is safe. On my Twitter account, @/moonchicken5, I've written up a ~60 page document detailing the horror show my RP server has had to deal with. Let me give you some details. -Started with a certain unnamed individual being a creep in other ways. We avoided him initially to avoid drama. -They start sending their friends into OUR DISCORD and raiding it, sending us death threats, telling us to kill ourselves. All because one of our staff has a similar name to someone who got banned for being a pedophile. They AREN'T THE SAME PERSON. THEY HAVE DIFFERENT STEAM IDS. -We go to the moderator, telling them that 'hey this guy is slandering one of our friends and raiding our server' and they tell us they can't do anything about it because it didn't happen in the main server, but the main issue person is -still- in their server. -Essentially, they 'can't do anything'. Fast forward to today, and one of my friends brings up the issue of art reposting without permission nor proper credit. -Levia Draconia, the LEAD DEV, backpeddles, ignores us, and her fellow moderator, Amendelwyr belittles us and insists we hush up and take it to DMs, even though we all know very well that neither one of them will do anything. -Levia Draconia brings up the rumor that my friend is THE SAME PEDOPHILE SHE BANNED MONTHS AGO, IN A CONVERSATION WHERE IT HAD NO RELEVANCY NOR BELONGED. ALL BECAUSE SHE COULDN'T SUCK UP AND APOLOGIZE FOR US ASKING HER TO CREDIT OUR ARTWORK PROPERLY, OR EVEN ASKING US PRIOR TO POSTING THEM. My friend has had their mental health SCARRED because of this fucking rumor. Your moderators don't do anything about it, and in fact, seem to ENABLE Levia. Levia is ALSO known for her other game, the Archotek Project. Which was also early access. It got abandoned, seemingly out of the blue. Guess what some of the major complaints were? Incompetent developers. Levia, nor the surrounding moderators, care for their community. They refuse to listen to the users that literally PLEAD to them for help. Arrogant and money-grubbing. Worst $40 I've spent in my entire life, yet at least I've made friends from this horrorshow.
