Nimbus Panimula

Nimbus is a unique combination of racing & puzzling. The player controls a craft with no means of directly propelling itself and needs to use whatever is scattered around the levels to acquire thrust and reach the goal. Traverse a world map with several distinct islands in order to recover your lost love. Light on story, but heavy on gameplay Nimbus offers several hours of increasingly harder challenges.

Key features:

  • Over 50 levels available on the main campaign
  • Unique game play that is easy to understand, but hard to master
  • A varied blend of levels that requires a combination of skill & puzzle solving
  • Plenty of opportunity for optimizing how you approach each level in order to beat the best times
  • Several trails, levels and ships to unlock
  • Loads of secrets & tricks

"That falling game" That's how this was described to me. I never thought I'd like it. But I love it. It's such a shame the team has gone largely off the radar. I'd love to play a follow up.

Colourful, accessible arcade action puzzle game where you manage thrust and inertia to steer your little spaceship thing through a gravity-shifting crazy golf obstacle course to the exit tile. Of course there are optional extra collectables along the way, alternate exits to alternate worlds, Super Mario World style, and enough new hazards and abilities to contend with that it kept my interest long before I ran out of new levels. Works really well as a casual pass-the-pad multiplayer game. It's a lot more forgiving than something like Super Hexagon. Nobody's going to be on for too long but nobody's getting an early bath after five seconds. Well... not often. Feels very much like a game you might find stuffed in a corner in a seaside arcade or find on an Amiga disk with half a Chinese label on it - you'll want to tell people about it, when you remember, but most of them will almost certainly never play it and you're not sure of the name or where you played it. Maybe you should stop smoking weed.

That's not flying! That's falling, with style! Okay, this is a good game. Very good...but also very hard. Especially some of those time attack achievements...I'm looking at you 3-12 and 4-4. Prepare to die and restart A LOT. 8/10

This is a weird but interesting game, it is been a long time since i played it to make a review, but compared to most bad games i played recently, Nimbus is very good. Actually i remember having more fun playing this and its demo than most games i played this week.

Nimbus is a lot of fun and very pretty, and it's basically just as challenging as you want it to be. There are a lot of optional levels, you can configure how you want the checkpoints to work, and your time records don't unlock any content or anything so it doesn't matter if you don't care about trying to accomplish them. However... If you _are_ interested in time records, be aware that Nimbus has one enormous bug: it bases its records on how much time elapses in the real world between the beginning and the end of the level, rather than how many game ticks pass in that time. So depending on how powerful your computer is, falling through the same vertical space without pressing any keys may take you anywhere from 4 seconds to 30 or more. Lowering your resolution and turning off graphical effects can help with this on some of the levels, but these are not adjustments you should be forced to make to fix a gameplay issue.

I guess this is a bit of a puzzle racing type of game. You control a ship and you have to bounce off of panels or use cannons to shoot yourself up. Then you guide your ship across the levels while avoiding things like spikes and crashing down. It starts off pretty easy but it gets difficult quickly. I normally don't really play these type of games (not for long anyway) but I do enjoy them from time to time. So depending on what you're looking for you might enjoy it as well.
