This is my first review in an extremely long time. (Around 2–3 years ago was my last time?) (Any corrections and grammatical criticism are welcome 24/7.) At the time of writing this, I'm still exploring the entire state and all 29 cities. Subject to change at any time when I go in depth. As a native Texan, this really got me hyped up as soon as I had the money to afford it this year!

    Summary

The Texas Map DLC has become the start of adventuring in the Southern United States. (As it was historically part of the Confederacy) Offering 29 cities to explore, a lot of newly made content and effort into detailing, as well as new road layouts, which I haven't recalled seeing in the previous map DLCs (New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, etc.), but a very interesting sight for me to see since I have seen these roads that looked extremely identical compared to what I've seen in real life (Mostly in North Texas). Sure, there is some negativity and things that aren't right in this DLC, as I've looked through all the reviews of this product that say it takes under 3 minutes to get from one place to another (Dallas-Fort Worth that is) and that I shouldn't buy this map for SCS' "lack" of long distance travel. Compared to how it is seen irl, yes, it does take longer just to go from Dallas to Fort Worth (way over 3 minutes). On a different subject: Although this was released 2 years after the 2020 racial protests, Confederate statues have since been covered or going down in the recent or upcoming years since then, but I really don't mind any being placed into this map at all, as history matters in my opinion, and since it's within the state, thus being part of the Confederacy, it shouldn't differ much, and I completely understand it. Since we were formerly part of France, Spain, and Mexico and once our own independent country.

    Scenery

There was a lot of effort put into this state scenery-wise, along with so much newly made content, almost identical to what I've seen in real life as I've lived in and explored (Mostly the east and north portions) of Texas for my entire life. In-game, it does take me quite a bit of time to get from one city to another (Except Dallas-Fort Worth, as well as Houston, San Antonio, and Austin). The detailing within these cities, as well as the historical landmarks of the Sam Houston statue in Huntsville and the University of Texas at Austin tower, were greatly appreciated as well.

    Cities

I appreciate the fair amount of cities they've added to the state; although the suburban cities are visible, I feel like they could've added some of them onto the map, such as: <*>Midland <*>Denton <*>Plano <*>Sugar Land <*>Katy <*>And much more I'd like to list, specifically in the panhandle, but I won't go too deep.

    Extras

The new construction scenery that I hadn't seen in other map DLCs, such as building a highway overpass (Often the supports), new buildings (weigh station, restaurant, office building, etc.), and many more (As we're currently one of the fastest-growing states in the US.) As you pass by some ranches in rural areas, you will see the ranchers riding on horses close to the highway.

    Conclusion

To everyone who's interested: Feel free to get this if you want to explore many, many new miles of your driving experience in the game. It was worth every penny I spent. Subject to change at any time as I'm still exploring the entire state. The final will be set out once I complete exploring. Overall Rating: 9.61/10 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3010501454

I drove into Austin for the first time and the I-35 on ramp was closed down due to a wreck. 10/10 realism.

Having driven through Texas many many times this DLC is pretty spot on especially with key landmark and street names . Phenomenal definitely worth it. To the people complaining about the price...this is the largest expansion of the map that they've released...pick up an extra shift or wait for a sale.

Texas is huge, varied and a sneak peek into the future of ATS. 1. HUGE Earlier this year, Montana was released. Quite a big state, but it feels a lot smaller than Texas. It is the biggest expansion by far. If my calculations are correct, it adds about 38% to the road network of the existing ATS world (including all previous expansions). This number might be slightly bigger because of all the frontage roads, but still: Texas is huge! 2. VARIED The northwest shows what most of the Great Plains probaby looks like: lots of agriculture, farms, fields, long stretches of road. The southwest shows what we know from New Mexico: "wild west" desert landscape. In the middle, there's the Texas triangle with some big city skylines. The I-35 between San Antonio, Austin, Waco and Dallas/Fort Worth and the region around Houston feel very urban. The northeast shows forests and even swamps. Clearly a very green and humid region. In the southeast, there's the Gulf of Mexico coastline with palm trees reminiscent of Florida. 3. SNEAK PEEK When driving from west to east through Texas, it becomes clear that we are now really leaving the West of the US behind us. The future for ATS will give us more of the Great Plains and of the forests of the South, which is awesome, but it won't give us more desert or more of the Rocky Mountains... Texas feels like the closure of the West, the continuation of the Plains and the opening of the South. It shows that we're at a crossroads, with a nice green world in front of us and some impressive arid and mountainous regions in our rear-view mirror.

I was so looking forward to this DLC, truly I was, but as soon as I drove through Fort Worth for the first time, I noticed something. Or, more accurately, a lack of something. The cities in this DLC are so sparse and empty. I'm not the first one to complain about this, but COME ON. DFW is so condensed it's almost baffling. Where's the Interstate loops? Where's the Fort Worth Stockyards? Where's AT&T Stadium? Where's Arlington? Where's US 287? You can't even see Six Flags over the walls on the sides of IH-30. When I drove through Sandpoint in Idaho, an area that my grandparents lived for over 20 years and an area I'm very familiar with, I was so impressed by SCS's ability to condense the city yet it still felt like Sandpoint . When I drive through DFW in this new DLC, I don't get that feeling. Fort Worth could be any generic city backdrop as far as I can tell in my game. It's just so disappointing to see. Much love to the SCS devs (seriously, y'all do amazing work), but this isn't your best work. PLEASE fix this.

I live in Odessa, TX, off exit 121 which is Loop 338. Was passing through and saw Odessa was actually in the game. Decided to take the exit, and it's almost EXACTLY modelled just like the real thing. I am super impressed!

Been a long time coming - I think this was on my wishlist for 19 months but it's finally here! Despite the 35% or so price increase when compared to other ATS expansions, this piece of content seems quite substantial in terms of scale and variety. Probably the largest DLC we've had overall so I can see why it costs more especially after 2+ years of challenging development. If you are dedicated to this game then there is no reason not to buy it!

This one feels rushed and unfinished, like SCS really wanted to get this out before the holiday season. What is here looks alright, but there is just too much that is missing to ignore - especially when compared with other releases. Perhaps the most egregious example is the fact that the Dallas side of the huge, sprawling D/FW metro area barely even exists in the game. Outside of a short stretch I35E and parts of I20 (most of which aren't even in Dallas proper) there is simply nothing there: US75, I635, and I30 east of downtown have been omitted completely! This makes for a very weird driving experience, and there are so many missed opportunities with regard to warehouses and the giant UP railyards in the East Dallas/Mesquite area and with businesses along the highways I've named, that I really don't even know where to begin. I get that you can't make a 1:1 representation of real life in the game, but man there is soooo much that was left out! Even the little details like highway signage, etc. seem sparse compared to previous releases. I gotta say I'm disappointed here. I really hope SCS comes back and gives this DLC an update and upgrade, because they could have done much better with this release.
