This Game Is An Absolute Gem. If you liked My Summer Car and the STALKER series then you will love this game. I don't know if it's the hardbass booming as I speed down mountain roads or the vast landscape to explore, but I can't stop playing. It's buggy, takes a moment to get used to, but it grows on you after a while. What's even better is just how passionate the developer is about this game and how he truly listens to player feedback. Seriously though. I've reported bugs in the discord and they are fixed quickly. This level of developer-responsiveness is fantastic, I've never played a game like this. Looking forward, I can't wait to see what's in store for future updates. If you're a fan of survival, open-world driving games, The Wasteland Trucker is a must-have in your library.

Game has great potential. Dev seems passionate about his game and fixed most major issues in record time. Game still needs polishing but if you don't mind that I highly recommend you give it a try.

Really digging it so far. It's got that dirty, grimy feel of My Summer Car / The Long Drive. Along with the no-f's navigation that gives you a loosely-annotated paper map and that's it. No active directional arrows, POI markers or anything. Wasteland is a good title descriptor for the map as it's got a dry-brush hills & desert kind of vibe. At times it feels like American SouthWest, others it feels like Mad Max outback. Either way the map is sprawling as heck. Like it feels as though it just goes on and on forever. And not in a flat plane kind of way, there's elevation changes and switchbacks aplenty. Not like mountains or anything, but enough to make it feel varied & authored. Looks like you can switch out car parts, upgrade and such. But I haven't encountered those systems yet. Just keeping up on gas, coolant & oil levels between runs. Speaking of, I'm enjoying the directed nature of WT where you take a job in one small-town settlement, load up and transfer goods to another town, and repeat from there. Give a sense of purpose. It's got one of those Half-Life 2 physics deals where your cargo has weight & hit boxes. Orders can be 20-30 or more small boxes that you load into your truck. So you have to be careful when driving as swerving & jostling the goods could send them flying out of the back of your truck. Driving feels creaky as hell in the best kinda way, with your gears practically crying out when you grind from one to the next, just like all good post-apocalyptic junker vehicles should. Oh and you have to manually shift, but it's not too hard as along with up-down arrows you can shift by pressing the 1-5 keys. So all good so far. Nice audio design coupled with day/night cycle open landscapes and fun driving leads to a really atmospheric experience. Great stuff.

basically like if "The Long Drive" and "My Summer Car" got wasted in Eastern Europe and created this strangely wonderful lovechild.. It has SO much potential IMO and I'm honestly very excited to see where this one goes. Hopefully the developer doesn't abandon it because this is a straight up diamond in the rough! Just in case you have played it and are wondering if there is stuff or loot to find off the "beaten path" like in the mountains or out in the desert? YES.. You will be rewarded for exploring, just try not to crash or blow up your engine.. I also learned that if you bounce around hard enough (slam into the ground going 30-40 down a hill or off a jump) ALL your crap you pile up in the cab (food, beer, oil, etc.) will phase through the body & frame of the truck and either despawn or go flying everywhere, sorta like The Long Drive when the physics has a tantrum.. oh yeah, you can become a drug dealer too.. anyways, 10/10

One of the ugliest, jankiest, messiest games I have ever played, but I think it could hold up really well if the developer keeps working on it, which looks to be the case. Slaverian Trucker is VERY much like My Summer Car, many features being lifted directly from it, but that's not necessarily a bad thing when done decently. As is obvious, this still needs heavy polishing, but is an OK time anyway. I got a hold of the controls, threw a bunch of stuff in my truck, half-blindly made way to a town, bought a map and some garbage, got a job delivering boxes and did it, complained to myself about the inconsistency between water bottle and beer bottle drinking mechanics, stared at another job board for a few minutes, and left the game to that for now. I'll definitely come back after a few updates. I wish driving felt bouncier like in My Summer Car. I also think engine sounds should be remade or tweaked somehow because right now they sound irritating and mix awfully between gears. Lack of feel and bad vehicle sounds also happened to be what got me to stop playing Jalopy completely, but that game is dead in the water anyway unlike this one... hopefully. I also think texture quality needs standardization. People in this game are genuinely scary to look at because their heads and bodies are basically textureless, but their faces are realistic... God.

This is a fantastic game. While some people may find it easy to compare it to My Summer Car, I think their similarities are rather surface-level. These similarities boil down to them both being open-world games where you drive and modify car(s) in an eastern-european setting. However, the rest of Slaverian Trucker is vastly different. For one, the atmosphere of the game is impeccable. Where MSC attempts to replicate a nostalgic, lush, rural Finnish locale, ST opts for a deserted wasteland. Rust and decay is ever-present, your vehicles are in constant need of repairs, and the best ways of earning money is through illegal smuggling of various goods. That's another major difference. Where MSC is much more down-to-Earth, where the player character is a teenager working simple, shitty jobs, ST is all about all sorts of jobs. While you can do plenty of trucking in an intricate economy, you can also go hunting and drag the corpses to a town over to sell. Or you could buy out property to earn passive income, *Or* you could smuggle all sorts of drugs and arms to earn vast sums of money. However you decide to get rich, you're going to be modifying your vehicle of choice to pursue that goal. MSC is very keenly focused on one, single car. You have dozens of parts you have to personally attach, bolt on, or put together and maintain. By the late game, the player is intimately familiar with their Satsuma, the gear ratios they specifically set, the damage on the pistons, even the sounds that indicate the health of the engine. ST, meanwhile, is very simple in terms of parts. You have body parts (doors, hoods, bumpers, seats, etcetera), a radiator & engine, and suspension & wheels. It's simple and very easy to manage. However, in its simplicity, ST gives the player one of the best tools in car games - the 'car adjuster.' This piece of equipment lets you change the location of *every* vehicle part however you want. You can raise the car off the ground to give it more clearance, lower the front to make it lean harder, push the back wheels together to make a tri-wheel, pull the engine out of the front, anything you can imagine. *And* every vehicle part is compatible with every vehicle chassis. In essence, this allows you to put the zakmat's engine - a 210 horsepower beast - in a tiny Polska, allowing it to tear up the desert with an engine bigger than the car itself. Or you can slap massive Rus wheels on the Ludu, making it look more like a hotwheels vehicle than an eastern-european car. This freedom in customization and high tolerance for tomfoolery gives the game a vastly different identity to MSC, in addition to all the other stark differences. As such, I highly recommend buying this game if it seems even remotely appealing to you. The world is incredibly fun to explore, the car mechanics are unique and a blast to mess around with, and there's an endless amount of activities to participate in. Word of advice though, *don't* try to take the northern mountain pass from your house to Komsodrinsk. Just take the southern road, it's much faster and much less boring than trying to push the Rus up a 40 degree incline.
