  This is no where near the original Dino Dini's game. I wish I had spent my fiver on a Megadrive and a copy of the original game instead of this. Unless it improves don't buy :(

  Kick Off Revival, by today's standards, is a hard game and takes a bit of practice to just play it, but that's what made this game famous in 1989! This game doesn't hold your hand, the ball doesn't stick to your foot, which makes the game play more satisfying. A great skill based game! Crunching on custom physics/networking/menus/DevOps while playing music, talking tech or handling trolls. He's work ethic is proof of his dedication to his game (well after launch). His openness and accessibility is proof of loyalty to his fans. And giving his time to help other developers is humbling of someone with his experience!

  It's horse manure. Crappy unresponsive controls, ball pretty much sticking to your feet, on top of being unplayable online due to execrable netcode. A million miles away from the original. I guess Dini thought he could dumb down his own game to reach casuals. Judging by the number of people playing this, I guess he wrong.

  I am an old fan of Kick Off and Kick Off 2 on Commodore Amiga who played hundreds and hundreds hours of both games on Amiga in the 90's and I was really interested in the Revival version. Now upon buying and trying it, I noticed it's an Early Access game in the shape of a full game. There are many modes missing like league mode as currently only friendly match and european cup are the playable modes, no customization options for game time, referee, weather conditions etc. There are only national teams available for playing and even those are just some countries. For example Japan and South Korea are completely missing. League clubs are completely missing from the game. You can't even decide your line up or the formation before the game. The view looks like in the original games, but the gameplay unfortunately feels off. There have been no updates for the game in five months so it seems it has been at this point abandoned by the developer which is a shame. I really would've loved this to be the Kick Off that could be called the true successor to the great Kick Off 2. I will look into this game again if it receives more updates in the future to make it look more like a real game than an Early Access game. In it's current form I would not recommend it to old fans.

  This is such a fabulous football game - it has a slightly steep learning curve but it is a super 'party game' for footy fans and is both stylised-retro and modern at the same time. This is no AI controlled FIFA faff - this requires PROPER 'skills'! As Napolean Dynamite perfectly put it - 'Girls only like guys who have great skills!' It is a unique game from a mind that gave us Kick Off when the Amiga was young and ground breaking! There is so much work and detail in this that soccer fans need to give it a shot and take the Kick Off Revival challenge to see if you have what it takes to be a top scorer in this 'skill-based' game! Fire this one up for your next game party night!!
