I love simmulator games like these and Becastled is quite unique in its style and gameplay. Becastled allows you to build whatever sized kingdom you want without punishing you for "settling down". Ofcourse with more and more enemies spawning each night stronger defences becomes necessary but it doesn't mean you are "pushed" towards expansion. The few things i can "complain" about is - the lack of assistance to understand certain structural benefits like how much morale each tavern worker gives or what makes an area "attractive". As there is no knowledge base you're on your own to figure most things out (and have to remember it all). - gamespeed is either pause, x0,5 og x1 which at times when waiting for resources/buildings/units etc can be really slow. I understand there is a performance hit to the speed but i believe it should be up to the player to decide if they are ok with 1x speed with good performance og 2x speed with less performance. - Game is too easy even on hardest settings. Once you get the hang of the game it doesn't bring enough challenges for you to be smarter/tactical about your approach and resource management. - In some areas walls provides no defence as enemies just walks straight through it. This often happens with walls built on uneven ground and especially on ledges. - Despite building a tower facing "outwards" the door will sometimes be placed on the outside of the castle allowing enemies to enter freely. If this happens you better destroy it and rebuild it untill it faces the right way as the "rotate" button only works correctly half the time. Visually it might seem like you fixed it but you wont know untill enemies goes for it. - Balistas are op as hell. Just build towers everywhere outside of the kingdom and place ballistas on them. No need for an army lategame when balistas and their towers almost never gets attacked. You basically have unkillable auto turrets defending you. I'm happy that the "issues" i found are things that are easily fixable and i got no doubt that the devs will improve them. The core concept of the game and at its current stage makes it quite enjoyable and is definitively one of the better medieval builder simmulator games out there. I'm excited to see where this game is headed and hope that a few years from now this will be fully released. I do suggest anyone who likes these types of games to give it a go and keep an eye out for the future as this is quite an unique experience.

The gameplay is cute as. The music is superb, I dont know how Ive gone 12hrs straight listening to just it! If you like base building, and citizen management, as well as army management to defend your citizens THIS IS THE GAME FOR YOU. Definitely worth the price tag for its early access. Thankyou for constantly patching Devs <3

This game is awfully boring ,it's alright if you want to have a peaceful night or two, but gets really boring after 2 days ,lacks alot of stuff ,the only action you get is when you get attacked by the moon warriors ,which are extremely easy to defend ,the game is simple enough ,but apart from that it doesn't have much content ,would be nice if there were other kingdoms being built which u can war with (Edit) I've got to say ,I didn't know the dev team was in Ukraine ,which cuts them some slack off the game ,my point still stands ,the game needs more updates ,and should be cheaper for all of the current content there is

The most recent update has really stolen the fun spectacle that the game was. Now it is just tedious micro managing that is more akin to Call to Arms or Assault Squad. If you can manage to revert the game version back a peg, then I would recommend the game, aside from that.. Diplomacy is not an option is out there!

Played the Demo a few years ago and they somehow managed to mess up the simplicity while not fixing any of the actual problems. The basic gameplay is buying little pieces of area, that you then have to defend by building units using the ressources in the areas you bought and building walls along area borders. My biggest complaints for the demo were that walls were janky and sometimes had little holes that let enemies through and that the AI was a mess on both sides. Neither of these got fixed in the past few years. Instead they added a research-system that means you now have to unlock walls and the ability to use them, which is an odd choice for a game about building a castle that's under siege. Map generation is another problem. (I think the Demo had a fixed map?) You will always need Food to survive, which makes it important for food sources to generate on the map, preferably close-by. This is not the case and you can get stuck in a situation where you run out of food not out of negligence but because there simply was no food-tiles. Similarly, buying tiles increase in cost and at some point starts costing stone. If you get unlucky you will not have any Stone generated nearby and will be unable to extend your area to reach it. Maybe they will fix the AI, the wall placement and the map generation, but seeing as they had years to do so and didn't, I would not get my hopes up.

It's alot of fun but some QOL updates are an absolute must right now i've had so many of my units getting stuck on buildings and for some odd reason my Archers decided to leave their tower and run into a wolfs den and I ended up losing all of them despite me not pressing anything which can be very frustrating especially if i'm under attack the last thing I need is my swordsman getting clipped onto my structures and having nearly my entire base destroyed but if you plan on picking this one up it definitely needs some more time to get patched up till then I would wait

+ Great little castle builder/wave defender game. + Has made some decent progress in terms of pathfinding and so on (given the circumstance) + Nice new features (research) - Unfortunately it makes the usual mistakes of too much rng for all procedurally generated maps => be prepared to reroll the map more than a dozen times until you get what you want - Still pathfinding issues (especially between cliffs, towers and walls) - But the worst part (and reason for the thumbs down) are the many Crashes To Desktop from the middle of the game onwards... => To the Dev: Stop with the features (traps) and fix the pathfinding and crashes! Also give a new option for a "balanced, casual" game where rng does not f*** the resource distribution even on "abundant" tldr; frequent CTDs after years of early access...

Bought this game for 15 dollars knowing its an Early access game. The first 1 hours of building your city is fun but when it comes to defending in a city with aprox 50 buildings, it becomes impossible to move your 25 soldiers around the city, they easily get stuck on invisible walls, takes 90 clicks to move them up the the archer walls, they pick the worst paths to reach the designated destinations. The games demo was released in 2020, i expected that the only thing that made this game attractive (the city defending) already perfected or close to being perfected in 3 years, specialy when the game only has 20 differant buildings and when it costs FIFTEEN DOLLARS. What exactly has the developers been doing is a relevant question to be asked. I've seen porn games with no finance develope their games faster than this. Absolutly not worth buying the game in its current state maybe in 5 years sure. Buying the game you can expect 2 hours of gameplay with alot of bugs

I used to go to the beach as a kid with my family, and build sand castles on the shore on purpose to see how long I could make it last against the water. This game brings that kid back out in me. I can play this for hours.
